you know, I kind of knew when I started writing this fic that it'd be the perfect storm of pleases-no-one in terms of content warnings, and also satisfies few in terms of tropes. The way the story is structured is also weird, with everything going to hell a little under halfway through, and slowly everything re-coalescing by the end. But this is exactly the story that I wanted to tell, in the end.
I do wonder if the fandom will ever find it, but it seems like right now there's a lot of angst being posted and maybe people are tired of that?
Thinking about posting my next work around Halloween, I wonder if it would get any more readership. It's just a oneshot, though.
In the end, I am not sure if I will ever finish another longfic like this, as much as I would like to finish my kuusuke series, if only for the sake of practice and completionism (and because I really love saiki k.)
I've been so busy lately I just don't know what to do with myself. (Which of course means I should make long, rambling posts on tumblr.)
As this fandom continues to thin out, I'll probably worry even less about what I'm posting and whatnot. It's all for fun, anyways. And as I transition into working more on original work, I suppose I'll be less involved in fandom. But I doubt I would ever fully abandon it. Just because I really love it. It's nice to have something consistent in your life, and basically, that's what fandom is for me.
Somewhere nice, somewhere fictional to just hang out, and work out tough concepts in my miniature stage in my head, or just have fun with it.

Chapter 9 is up! Now things began to fall apart.

not to be controversial bc I know this is like…not in line with shifting opinions on fanfic comment culture but if there’s a glaring typo in my work I will NOT be offended by pointing it out. if ao3 fucks up the formatting…I will also not be offended by having this pointed out…
‘looking forward to the next update’ and ‘I hope you update soon!’ are different vibes than a demand, and should be read in good faith because a reader is finding their way to tell you how much they love it. I will not be mad at this.
‘I don’t usually like this ship but this fic made me feel something’ is also incredibly high praise. I’m not going to get mad at this.
even ‘I love this fic but I’m curious about why you made [x] choice’ is just another way a reader is engaging in and putting thought into your work.
I just feel like a lot of authors take any comment that’s not perfectly articulated glowing praise in the exact manner they’re hoping to receive it in bad faith.
fic engagement has been dropping across the board over the last several years, and yes it’s frustrating but it isn’t as though I can’t see how it happens. comment anxiety can be a real thing. the last thing anyone wants to do is offend an author they love, and that means sometimes people default to silence.
idk where I’m going with this I guess aside from saying unless a comment is outright attacking me I’m never going to get mad at it, and I think a lot of authors should feel the same way. ESPECIALLY TYPOS PLZ GOD POINT OUT MY TYPOS.

I think it’s a wolfdog, albeit not a high content one.
I’m fine with that
my dog-or-wolf problem: ship tags (/) versus platonic (&) tags
I’m torn, because on one hand. I want people to be adequately warned of what they are getting into. On the other hand, calling my fic Kuusuke/Kusuo is a little bit like calling a pit bull a wolf, to emphasize the potential danger of the animal. Like… yes. Technically, a dog is a wolf. (They can interbreed and produce fertile offspring.) In practicality? They couldn’t be more different animals, and treating a pit bull as if it was a wolf is a little bit absurd.
At the same time… you don’t want to take an animal suspected of having been in a fight or having maimed its owner the same way you would treat any other animal in the shelter. It would be reckless and irresponsible not to emphasize the potential danger of working with such an animal. On the other hand, if the dog had a portion of wolf blood, the problem is, again, complicated. It’s no longer a ‘safe’ or rather, predictable animal like a dog. But a wolfdog isn’t nearly as unpredictable as a wolf, and might even be more manageable. But at the end of the day, you can’t treat it like a dog, even though it isn’t a pureblooded wolf.
So… what is the right tag? Hell if I know. On the other other hand… basically no one is reading it, so what does it matter? It’s kind of a ridiculous thing to worry about when there’s like, maybe six people who are actively reading this, if even. Ah well.

Do not write fanfiction. One second you're normal and the next you're downloading a calendar from 2004 and tearing your hair out over what specific date every event in your fic happens

outlines really cramp my style when I try to use someone else's template, but it turns out you can just fuck around and write whatever the hell you want in an outline. Can and should. I don't believe in the template approach or 3 act story structure or anything similar because it activates my Perfectionism mechanism which by definition limits my creativity. There's probably a good way to use it, but I haven't found it yet. I'll try if I need new ideas or get stuck on the story.
