The entire airport - hell, the rest of the world - melted away as they kissed. Matt hadn’t realized just how big of a hole Sofia had filled in his life until he’d left for New Mexico, and it wasn’t until now that he managed to remember what it felt like to have that filled. Nothing mattered in that moment but the fact that he loved her, and she was here. “I love you, Sofia.” He mumbles against her lips. “I never stopped.”
Since the second Matt left, Sofia felt a whole in her chest. There was something missing, someone. She had tried to fill that void, but nothing worked. The second his lips touched hers, that whole was once again filled. Sofia pulled away from the kiss, leaning her forehead against his and smiling brightly. “I love you too. So much.” She sighed happily, leaning back as she remembered where they were. “But maybe we should get out of the airport.” She said, but Sofia leaned closer to kiss him one more time. “I really missed you.”

“I can imagine.” Matt wasn’t sure what kind of answer he was going to get from Sofia after telling her how he felt, and he couldn’t help but sigh in relief when she admitted that she had missed him just as much as he’d missed her. “Then I guess it’s a good thing you came out here, huh?” He asks, his hands finding hers and pulling her closer. Here, with Sofia in his line of sight and her hands in his, things feel more right then they have in months. She was the missing piece, the one part of his past he couldn’t move on from, and now she was here. He leans down, pressing his lips against hers without a care for anyone who might be watching.
“I guess it is.” Sofia smiled brightly as Matt pulled her close. It had been naive of her to think that she would easily move on, that she could do it. One look at Matt and whatever thought of moving on disappeared. Sofia didn’t forget that she thought once he would be safer without her, but that was the last thing in her mind as Matt leaned down, pressing his lips to her. All she could do in that moment, all she wanted to do, was kiss him back.

“Will? Dating a vampire?” Matt can’t help but be a little incredulous, considering Will had never seemed like someone who wavered in his beliefs. He thought he would have a tough time convincing Will not to murder his friends just for being vampires, so the fact that he was now seeing one was difficult to wrap his head around. “I’m glad you’re all so happy.” He smiles, trying not to think too hard about the fact that she didn’t mention anything about her seeing anyone. “It’s great here, honestly. A little drier than I’m used to, but everything’s great.” He stops, realizing that it’s stupid to try and keep this in. Sofia’s going to figure it out soon enough, anyway. “Everything’s great, except you weren’t here. I tried, I really did, but… everyone here isn’t you. Turns out, that’s kind of a really big problem for me.”
“Yes, a vampire. Believe me, I was surprised too.” She chuckled. It had been weird for her too. Hell, it still was. But if Will was happy, so was she. Sofia nearly corrected Matt when he said they were all happy. Her siblings were happy, of course, but she wasn’t. There was someone missing. She smiled slightly when he said things were great, half expecting him to say he had moved on. But what he said next caught her off guard. Her heart was beating faster than before after his words and she couldn’t help but be honest with him as well. There was no point in hiding it anyway. “Well...” She took a deep breath. “My siblings are happy... But I’m not. Not since you left. You not being around is kind of a really big problem for me too.”

Matt doesn’t balk when she approaches him, opening his arms and wrapping her in a tight hug. The amount that he’d missed her felt like a physical ache, one that he felt in every part of his body and so often that it might as well have been constant. It eased when he finally got her back in his arms, though not completely - she was here, but as a friend. For all he knew, she’d been able to do what he couldn’t and had found someone new. It wouldn’t be right of him to grab her and kiss her here in the middle of the airport, no matter how badly he wanted to. It took him a moment to tamp that down, but he was perfectly content to stand there in silence with her in his arms. “So, how are you? How’s everyone back home? Anything new I should know about?”
It felt good, really good, to be in Matt’s arms again. It wasn’t enough to make all of her months of missing his disappear, but she wasn’t going to complain. Even though she was happy having his arms wrapped around her, Sofia pulled away to answer his questions, before it could become awkward. “I’m doing okay. Everyone is fine. Will has definitely changed his thoughts about vampires. I think he’s dating one. Maddie is doing well too, she’s happy. Other than that I don’t think there’s anything new. Not with me anyway.” She replied. “What about you? How is college life treating you? Going to many college parties?” Sofia asked, but what she really wanted to know was if he had moved on like she asked him to.

Matt had done his best to try and move on, per Sofia’s request. He’d made friends in New Mexico, plenty of whom had tried to set him up more than once, but it had never felt right. Despite putting everything he had into starting this new life, something felt like it was missing. Or it had, until he finally saw that familiar face striding towards baggage claim, where he had positioned himself the second they had updated the flight information. In that moment, it was like the last piece finally clicked into place. “You can say that again.” he says, not bothering to stop the grin that feels permanently plastered to his face. “It’s good to see you, Sofia.”
Oh, how Sofia had missed those beautiful blue eyes. She tried to forget them, she tried to find in other eyes a distraction from the memory of Matt’s, but nothing had worked. No one had ever looked at her again like Matt did. No one had been enough to help her forget Matt. “It’s good to see you too.” She said, hesitating for a second, before moving forward and pulling him into a hug. They weren’t dating anymore, but they were friends, right? It shouldn’t be weird if they hugged. Except Sofia was still in love with him and her heart was beating loudly against her chest.

Sofia lasted a good amount of time without seeing or talking to Matt. Months of constantly missing him. She didn’t want to be that girl that couldn’t live without a guy, but she missed him and it was pointless to deny that. So she swallowed her pride and called him, telling to herself that she just wanted to make sure she was safe. Hours of conversations, a plan and one plane ticket later, and Sofia was walking with her bag in hand at the airport, looking for the pair of blue eyes she still loved. When her eyes finally met his, a huge smile formed on her lips and she couldn’t walk fast enough towards him, finally stopping only a few steps away from him. “Matt Donovan... Long time no see.” @donovanmatt

Verses
Verse 1: Post IOTD
Picks up where IOTD left off. Sofia is still a vampire and her humanity is still off. She still doesn't know who forced her to turn it off and she doesn't care.
Verse 2: Huntress
Sofia never turned into a vampire. After Matt left, she continued her hunting life as if nothing had changed. Gave up completely on a normal life and is being more reckless than usual in her hunting.

She didn’t really say too much, not when Sofia started assuming, anyway. It made her go silent, the expressions on her face telling more than she could ever express verbally. Madeline didn’t understand why she was suddenly bringing Aria up as if anything the vampire did, she let slide. Which she was wrong. Her brows even knitted together, why would she not consider her a sister? Because of what? The fact that she was a vampire? Or because she killed someone? Maddie wasn’t quite following. “The only thing I hid from you, was someone else’s problem.” in her mind, she hadn’t once lied to her brother or sister, how could she? She couldn’t lie about something they knew nothing about. She let out an annoyed sigh, she wasn’t even sure what to tell her— or say to her, everything Sofia was saying? Madeline had already explained herself. Multiple times. She didn’t need to go over and over the same thing, again. “No, it’s not.” meaning the conversation, it wasn’t over, Sofia just wanted the easy way out. “You demand answers from me all the time, but when the shoes on the other foot, it’s suddenly a problem? You say about me hiding things, but you’re doing that now so you can’t stand there and judge me for showing concern. You’ve been pushing me away for months, Sofia, why?”
“You’re right. It was someone else’s problems.” Sofia scoffed. “A problem that stopped being someone else’s when you started to risk your life for it.” That was something Sofia really thought, with or without humanity. “I’m the one pushing you away? Maddie, you pushed me away counstless times. You put up a wall at every single chance you get, every time you get hurt or angry, and I gave you as much space as I possibly could. It’s a little ironic of you to say I’m pushing you away for months.” She replied, keeping the act, pretending as if she had her humanity on. “But do you really want to know why I haven’t been able to be around my family after I turned? Because I’m still handling the change. You think this is easy? Turn into a vampire and keep on living my life as I did before? I didn’t want to turn, I didn’t want to be a vampire, I turned because you begged me to. It would be a little nice of you to understand that I need time to be sure that I can, in fact, be around you without wanting to feed on you.” She said. “Besides, it’s a little hard for me to be around my little sister after she saw me losing control and murdering someone. Is that enough or do you have anything else to ask?”

Sofia looked at Levi raising an eyebrow. “Hey, asshole.” She looked him over before scoffing loudly. “You look like shit.” She said, shaking her head.

He’d been avoided Sofia since, well, he tried to kill her. But now that Bellamy was gone, and that he was drunk, and kind of wanted to die anyway, he had no problem approaching her. “Hey, bloodsucker, sorry I tried to kill ya, wasn’t worth it after all,” he shrugged hugely, before slipping against the bar to rest against it for support.

Truthfully, Shawn wasn’t sure what he was suppose to feel in that moment. Upset? Angry? Worried? Well, the last one was one he felt regardless. He also couldn’t deny that it took him a second to actually process what he was stumbling on. He told her he was always going to be on her side and he was, but it still wasn’t normal to find Sofia feeding on someone especially when she had been so adamant about not wanting to. He was use to that kind of tone in a more joking sense, at a more appropriate time as well so her little comment? Didn’t exactly sit well with him. “What’re you doing?” His gaze focused on the male.
Sofia glanced at the man she had been feeding on before looking back at Shawn. There were no emotions in her brown eyes and she wasn’t trying to pretend anymore. “I was feeding, obviously.” Sofia replied with a shrug, as if it was totally normal for someone to find her feeding on a human. “I was hungry and he was helping me out.”

The Sofia other knew and loved was long gone now that her humanity was off. That meant she had no problem feeding on innocent humans or even kill them. She was feeding when she heard someone coming closer. Thinking it could be a hunter, she pulled away from the man she was feeding on to look to her side. The person on the other end of the alley was one of the last people she wanted to have around. “I hate when people sneak up on me.” She sighed heavily.

It was on impulse that Sofia walked into the tattoo shop. She should be avoiding the people close to her, but in the end she didn’t care about what they would think to avoid them completely. She didn’t care about anything. “Heard this place was the best place to get a tattoo around here.” She said, walking into the place with a grin on her lips.

Sofia was doing just fine with her humanity off. It was as if she finally had gotten her life back on tracks and she didn’t want anything to spoil it. And she thought nothing would, until she saw Will at her door. “Hey, stranger.” She sighed. “If you’re here to get into a fight with me too, I’ll pass. I’ve heard enough from Maddie.”
Sofia had her own life now, she was grown up and she knew how to take care of herself, especially after she was turned into a vampire. But she was still his little sister, and no matter how independent she could be, William would always look after her. After his attack, the only thing he knew of what happened was through Madeline. Sofia was the target, and he had to do something, but what? She hadn’t told Maddie, but Will hoped his sister would tell him, after all, they didn’t keep secrets from each other, right? So that afternoon he stopped at her house and waited until she arrived. “Hey stranger, long time no see, hm?”

* “I wouldn’t go that far. I’ve seen girl’s lose it over wearing the same lipstick shade as each other.” She retorted with a roll of her eyes. “Nice to meet ya too.”
“Well, that’s ridiculous. And yet it can be so entertaining.” She shrugged. “I haven’t you seen you around before.”

“No, no, the world has given me a lot, and I’m thankful. I have to be kind to it back, right?” he figured. Not that he really had to try, though. His studio apartment was pretty close by, so he parked in front, before going to the passenger side door to help her out.
“Are you even real?” Sofia laughed. Theo was too kind, too nice. And Sofia promised herself that after that night she stop being around him. Her life was too fucked up and she didn’t want to mess with his. She smiled brightly when he walked to the passenger side to help her out. “You’re such a gentleman.” She smiled as she got out of the car.
