I’m not sure where else to ask this, but I just remembered that I never got this question answered myself

I decided to download a bunch of cc and a couple mods for optimization and after a few hours of editing to my tastes they all worked perfectly. For a couple hours, because EA then uploaded a mini update to the UI and probably other things, and the next time I opened the game all of my cc was removed in-game/had missing textures and none of my mods worked anymore. I was so tired from getting them to work in the first place that I just stopped playing the game because I didn’t want to wait for every single cc I owned to update to the most recent version of the game

Is there a way to make sure this doesn’t happen in the future? I want to be able to play the game again but if this happens every time Steam updates it, I’m not sure what to do. Is there a way to download a copy that isn’t connected to Steam? I haven’t gotten over this hurdle for months now

Honestly the homestuck x Vivziepop thing didn’t take too much of my day. I heard about it, had a laugh, then went on the rest of the first day of my birthday weekend, I’m not even in the fandom but to be clear I think it sounds extremely funny
