Podcast

Over the last years, the podcast audience grow constant at a rate of 10 to 20 percent the year. This is a trend, which is seen to continue in the future.
Stories are important to shape the understanding. Like Jonathan Haidt, a psychologist, observed, the human mind is a not a logic processor, itās a story processor. The human brain remembers 22 more information, if these are covered as part of a story, instead of deserved as facts only.
Moreover, with the time, the audience knows the creator of a podcast better. The communication style, her or his perspective to things and overall views become familiar. These days, where truth is often shrouded behind misinformation, fake news and more, people are looking to turn somewhere trustworthy, to help to understand the reality behind topics. Podcasts of good authors can fulfil this role. With podcasts, humans can stimulate the imagination, while we learn about new topics easily. Additionally, podcasts are so easy to use. In a combination to driving the car, sitting in the train, taking the airplane, podcast can always be with us at any journey. Furthermore, during cooking or generally said preparing things at home or elsewhere, we can easily follow podcasts instead of music. With that, the consume is easy for the audience, which makes the use of learning handy and time efficient. With the on-demand technology, the use nowadays is perfectly matched to the need for the audience.

CSS stylesheets and theirĀ advantages

As we learned in the last lecture in college, to think about a real website, owners have more often plenty of webpages related to that.
After the brainstorming, where should which content be, the easiest way to design the web content is using a CSS stylesheet.
The advantages are easily shown, due to the fact that you can save money and time by changing one style in the CSS stylesheet, which enrols to all related webpages immediately. Moreover, the style of the webpages is consistent.
Additionally, by using CSS stylesheets to separate your websites content, the file transfer size will be reduced enormously, which leads to the customer satisfaction during the visited time of the pages.
Using CSS stylesheets is considering a clean coding, which means search engines will not have any struggle to read the content.
Moreover, nowadays internet users have a huge range of browsers to use the web with. CSS stylesheets increase the webpages adaptability, which ensure more visitors will be able to visit the pages.
As we learn, CSS stylesheets are a huge advantage for offering websites in general.

Lite application for the phone?

In European cities a strange trend to use, for the developing world a helpful idea.
In 2018 the photo application (app) Instagram, based on a own social network and now part of Facebook, launched a smaller app for the developing markets of the world.
In the USA or Europa, it is common to surf with your smartphone with a huge capacity of mobile data and a 4G connection.
In developing countries, that looks different where less than the majority owns a smartphone and the mobile data connection is more expensive in relation to the income. Therefore, companies like Instagram and Spotify launched already a lite vision of their mobile apps with less functionality, but as well less capacity for the internal phone storage. Other companies like Google are working on their lite apps.
I support this idea and think that apps donāt always need be more colourful and with huge functionality, sometimes less is more. I like the idea to support each part of the world, as well the āless good connected oneā. Especially the big companies like Facebook and Google can easily handle the support of lite apps for developing countries and as well for users in Europa or the USA.
At the end it is a win-win situation.

Are tablets appropriate for children?

Regarding to children of an age from 4 -6 years, the common awareness of adults believes that children like more to read on a digital advice. However, in a study of children from 4 to 6 years, the majority of those who had regular access to digital devices, tend not to use their devices for reading, even when there existed daily book readers on the device (Merga and Roni, 2017). Moreover, it was found that children read less in general, the more digital devices a child had access to.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā The Guardian showed 2014 another point of view in their article āAre iPads and tablets bad for young children?ā, where they interview the director of the BabyLab Swinburne University at Melbourne, Jordy Kaufmann. In this interview Jordy Kaufmann mentioned, that when most of the scientists and peadiatricians have talked about the danger of screen time for kids, they do not distinguish between the type of digital media screens. Generally said, most of the research is based on the relation between children and the television. For Jordy Kaufmann it seemed misguided to assume, that tablet apps are going to have the same impact as the program of the television has. He added in his interview āit all depends what you are using it forā (Cocozza, 2014).
There is no real right or wrong. Out of my point of view adults should find their own way how to deal with digital advices and their children. But especially in the first years of life, where the child isnāt able to distinguish between real-life object and digital objects, I wouldnāt advice any parents to buy their children their own tablets. Neither, if they are crying less afterwardsā¦

Spotify earns the first win
In the third quartal in 2018, Spotify earned the first time a win.
It took the music streaming giant, located in Stockholm (Sweden), 12 years from foundation to the first win. Unfortunately for Spotify, the win is not based to their original work.
The win is the result of the reassessment of the share of the Chinese company Tencent Music. Spotify works in cooperation with the competitive and got a tax credit over 125 million euro.
Effectively, that brings a win of 43 million euro in the third quartal 2018.
Nevertheless, Spotify expect to earn a minus in the last quartal of 2018.
Although, Spotify is expending over the last period of time. The number of customers went up to 87 million, which is an increased of 4 million customers in the last three months, meanwhile 109 million customers are using the unpaid version, a plus of 8 million customers compared with the second quartal.
Itās amazing, how much money in the music sector is. It is such a big industry and nowadays there are more and more streaming companies. Next to Spotify, Apple, Deezer, Amazon started their streaming and Google is with YouTube developing a mix between a streaming for music and videos, like a mix between Spotify and Netflix.
Iām expectant where this will lead to.

Common mistakes in HTML programming
Due to the last class, I needed to post about common mistakes in HTML programming.
https://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/10-common-html-mistakes-to-avoid-1980
Directly the mistake one in the list was a long issue for me the last class. I placed my block element h2 within the inline elements, which was a link to another website. Due to the fact, that the inline element started with an "a" I set a paragraph <p> around it.
In my HTML code nothing changed and I was fine with my programming. Moreover, as I created my CSS document to my HTML document, I couldn't find the mistake, why there was a huge gap from my header to my first heading in the text.
After an hour, thanks Ruairi, we found the misplaced paragraph, which was a blank paragraph and the reason for the big gap between my elements.
So guys, never do such an easy mistake, it can take you hours.

Industrial services
Before I started my master program, I thought to create an account at monday.comĀ to increase my production for every activity at the college.
So where did these thoughts come from?
Over my undergrad studies I figured it out, that I donāt like to work only with papers. Making some notes and reminding is a perfect additional plan to work with for me. It happened often, that notes were lost and I needed to go after them again. So, I started to use the reminding apps like Wunderlist, which worked out definitely better, because I couldnāt lose my reminding anymore. Beside I was now better organized, I missed the real work flow, to check the current status for specific topics. Especially for longer processes like assignments, it is useful to have an overview to the processes themselves.
The websiteĀ monday.comĀ tries exactly to portray that. Customers find an easy overview to their tasks and moreover they can work on different tasks as a team ā very helpful, or not?
Especially monday.com is a good organized application with smartphone access and a good organized way to work with more clients at the same topic. Although, the industrial service is very expensive, so one needs to pay 25⬠per month for five basic users.
According to more research I was able to find cheaper competitive programs like factro.de, but nothing which fulfill my exact needs. Finally, that brought me to the idea to create a working sheet like that for myself and due to the help of Numbers and Google sheets, my work can be easily shared with my classmates. I think tools which create a higher value for a team is always good to use to reach a higher performance, if there are economic. At the end for a team with 10 or more members a payed working process application is very useful, not to lose the overview as the team lead or project manager, but with less clients for such a program, I recommend to do it yourself.

Self-employed with the web
In the modern world there are many opportunities to work in the web. Nowadays, it is recognized that online jobs are established in our community. Like web- or graphic designer, they can work from home or from every place they like to work. Equally, as second job the possibilities developed these days, which is not only interesting for students.
With good formulating skills as writer, you can easily offer your skills online. Moreover, especially as freelancer in this job, some money can be made easily.
A job as affiliate marketing person is already established in the online business. More and more companies are interested in publishing their products due to affiliate marketing, because with that their products become more popular to customers without any additional advertisement costs. The easiest way to work in the business of affiliate marketing is to set some advertisement, suitable to your own blog.
Very close to the business of affiliate marketing is the online marketing themselves. In this sector workers nearly have no limits in selling, neither what they want to sell or where they sell it, limits are rarely. Often used are websites, blogs or social media channels, only to mention a few.
One of the easiest ways to earn money in the web is to offer e-books as an author. Negatively is, that the e-book industry is highly disputed, nevertheless who has an e-book with a higher value should be able to gain some extra coins for the budget account.
But be careful with the opportunities you get. Especially if it is mentioned to pay in advanced for a perfect clue to your business, it is often a dubious offer behind it.Ā In the online business it is important to focus to your customers group and to use your knowledge and your abilities appropriately, only then it is a great opportunity to earn money with a low starting capital.

Where is the popularity of GIFs coming from?
In the current world, GIFs are common to use, especially in the social media and it seems, that their popularity will increase further over the time.
But why do we like GIFs so much?
GIFs are already relatively old in relation to the age of the internet and they can only show a palette of 256 colours, which means we cannot explore much details from them. In comparison JPGs, often used as pictures on webpages or design backgrounds, use to have a palette of over 16 million colours.
The main reason why GIFs are so popular is, that they are animated.Ā With that GIFs can easily demonstrate expressions, illustrate a short overview or deal as a quick summary for a topic.
Even though I never used GIFs often to communicate in my life, my friends seem to like them since eternity. Since a long period of time my friends react to comments by sending only a GIF, like the motto āone picture is worth ten thousand words.ā
It seemed that GIFs and social media platforms belong together, but nowadays it was never easier to link them with your social media account. For example, as a Twitter user you have integrated a GIF search function, which makes it easier than ever before to react with a GIF to a discussion.
With the possibility to create GIFs easily by yourself by using only a short part of six seconds in a video, I changed my mind and use them now very often for my own expressions.
Iām expectant when will be the time where GIFs are common to use to communicate at work.

In January Koum told his audience that his team is missing Acton, the co-founder of WhatsApp. At the same time he said further, that working at Facebook is like to win the lottery.
At the end of April, two months since Brian Acton told his Twitter followers to delete Facebook, Jan Koum left Facebook due to privacy issues at Facebook and WhatsApp.Ā Koum always stood for high privacy due to his experience growing up in the USSR.
What does that tell the customers of Facebook and WhatsApp?
In critical times of Facebook with manipulation in elections, data leaks and fake news and other problematic, Facebook lost the CEO of their subsidiary WhatsApp and leave their customers inquiring back.
Iām asking myself if this really happened. How much is the value of my data? Can all of that have a negative impact on my person? Do I need the account at Facebook, do I need to communicate by WhatsApp? How can I fight for my own privacy?
A professor of mine told me, itās good to have different accounts, which are offered from different companies, but what happens if the first company buys the second one?Ā In case of Facebook and WhatsApp that happened in 2014 and all data of all customers of WhatsApp went to Facebook.
How can we solve our own privacy in the fast-moving world?
Therefore, next to other reasons too, I chose my master and I hope I can learn to deal with that problems not only to help me in this situation, to help as well all people in my environment.
