every day I have to resist the urge to go on a rant about the characterization of Mike Hanlon in It 2017/It 2019 and how mad I am that they gave his stuff to Ben. Give me the It 1990/book Mike Hanlon with the normal parents. Give me a Mike who would *never* lie to his friends about the killer clown. Yes I do love It 2017/It 2019 but I also am aware they have issues.

Look, you don't have to come in with me, but what happens when another Georgie goes missing, or another Betty, or another Ed Corcoran, or... one of us?

Drabble :
Mike is in the library, putting books away. He doesn't see him at first. But Bill sees him. Mike doesn't see the way Bill's face lights up. Bill takes him in. He hasn't thought about Mike in years but now Mike is here. The same gentle face, the smile. The eyes. Bill feels a blush rising on his cheeks. He wishes he hadn't forgotten. He heads for the desk and looks at him closer. Yes. It's him. Mike Hanlon. Mike finally looks at him. A look of relief at first, then a grin. Mike sees Bill again. Remembers riding Silver, the way they would zoom around. The way that Bill always let him hold on tight. And how Mike treasured those moments, when it was him and Bill against the world. Oh Mike wishes, that it were under better circumstances. He wishes he hadn't had to call Bill or the others. They stare at each other, taking in each other, not saying a word at first. "I know how old I look," Mike says. "Just...I remember you as a kid," Bill answers. "Welcome home, Bill, " Mike says. He wraps Bill in his arms. Holding him tight. He remembers, that night they kissed in secret. The many nights spent studying, thinking of ways to defeat It. And how it felt when Bill wasn't there anymore. Bill is here. Bill is home. "I only wish it were under..." Mike trails off, "come on let's go." Bill feels it too. The strength of the two of them together. He wants to take Mike's hand and wrap it in his. He wants to run away, with Mike and go far away from here, where the two of them can read and write their books and hold hands, and burrow into caverns on the sofa. Mike grins as they near the shed. "I got something for you," he says. He opens the bike shed. Bill's mouth drops open. Because inside is a familiar sight. The bike is full of memories. Memories of running away, the losers on the back carrier, as they speed away in fear. But there is also joy, and there is also another memory. A more secret one, buried away. He can see it, as Mike's face breaks into a big grin. Bill looks into those eyes, and he can feel it too. Their grins match as they look at the bike. They remember. And they ride the bike again. Up and down the seesaw, speeding along. The look of pure joy on Mike's face, and Bill's face. And they remember --the two of them riding that bike, Mike on the back his arms wrapped around Bill. They remember when they stopped the bike in the barrens and found that tree. Mike remembers being nervous, as he takes in Bill's features, and then he presses his mouth to Bill's, expecting rejection. Bill grins and kisses back. They stay like that for a moment, before they pull apart. But neither of them forgets that moment. The bike has brought them together again.
