I don't tend to see Anosmia being brought up with sensory disabilities (even though it is one), as someone with it I love to see it
... Also tempted to write a convo where either Twilight contrary to expectations does not have a sense of smell, or he attempts explaining smells to someone else who is as confused as I am every single day
Sensory Impairment or loss describes a wide variety of conditions in which a person loses the ability to perceive Sensory information either partially or completely, most common being hearing and sight loss.
Some people are born with Sensory Impairment, while others may have progressive or sudden onset. The degree of Impairment widely varies as well. Many blind people still have some light perception or limited vision. Similarly, hearing loss is often incomplete. There are few people with total loss of taste or Ageusia, instead having partial loss (hypogeusia) or alteration of taste (Dysgeusia)
Smell - Anosmia
Taste - Ageusia, Hypogeusia, Dysgeusia

Hearing - Sensorineural Hearing Loss, Auditory Neuropathy Spectrum Disorder, Meniere’s disease
Sight - Glaucoma, Cataracts, Diabetic Retinopathy, Keratoconus, Nyctalopia, Color Blindness
How might the chain overcome any communication barriers that come with sensory loss?
How might a Link’s sensory loss effect their fighting?
How might their sensory loss effect their preferences?

Communication is a function of interpretation, and some people will convey more or less of what they mean with how they hold themselves and behave without the use of words. This may be part-time or full-time non-verbal, and the cause may be physical (unable to talk or hear, unable to make their mouth/throat make the correct sounds) or mental (unable to parse the language in that format, or too anxious to make a noise)
Someone who is deaf may choose not to speak for their own comfort, and someone who is unable to speak for mental reasons may be unable to form sentences even in a non-verbal communication format.
Whether the non-verbal communication is a full-language or not will vary based on the tools at hand. Signed languages are full-languages but do require the other person to be capable of interpretation or have a translator if not, whereas simpler communication may be more accessible if someone is willing to put in the work to make sense of it
Sign language -- a formal language of hand movements and gesture (typically)
Informal signs -- an individualistic group of gestures that a person consistently uses to communicate. It’s not a formal language but helps the person communicate with friends and family
Body language -- gestures and face expression that may range from full-body to sing fingers or eye moments, depending on the physical control and strength of meaning intended to be conveyed. These may range from signaling yes or no to attempting to convey words, movement, direction or specific concepts, May be called “pantomime” or “miming”
Written board -- some people may choice to write out what they wish to say, can be very helpful in a society where literacy is high. This could be white boards, notebooks, slate and chalk, parchment and graphite, ect. In modern settings, people often use phones to type out ideas In a modern setting, people may use a phone to write it out
AAC devices -- any device or tool that can be used to help a person communicate. They can be more advanced like a tablet that has text to speech capabilities or very simple like drawings on a sheet of paper
Pictograms -- a small board or booklet with pictures that a person can point at to aid communication
Other sounds -- while not strictly nonverbal, many people with speaking difficulties may use clapping, whistling, tongue click, grunts and other sounds to communicate
Is Link always non-verbal? If not, what might cause them to lose the ability to speak?
Does Link have a preferred form of non-verbal communication? What does they do if that form of communication is not working?
Does the magic that lets them understand each other's spoken languages permit understanding sign language? What about written language?
How effective is written communication in that time period or, in other words, how literate is the common person? Would they understand a written note?
How open are people to other forms of communication? Are people willing to take the time to understand?

I think one would need an entire comic to fit all the jokes, but Lenn, you did such an amazing job fitting so much into the one image and it has resulted in something beautiful
I am in fact getting emotional about our bingo being included, because wdym our silly little project is part of this
And then you've got all the sillies!
Four about to slap that massive star on Hyrule, the same way we all do that to Luna every time they open their mouth, and to so many other people!
Wild eating the soap, like the Soap Club we still have many regrets about! Like the seasonal soap soup enjoyers!
Lawn nails Spirit suffering and touching grass (the ground)!
Sprinto!
The divorce in the background, omg the divorce! They're both so happy to get divorced it's almost like watching Ash and Luna in Chaos Chat all over again!
And their superlatives!
Wind's "unexpectedly got words" while holding up the laptop with a single fancy "The" is hilarious! Time the fluff addict! Sky the permanently exhausted pigeon!
You did an amazing job with this, love it so so so much omg
I have a gift for @lu-community-write-a-thon that I definitely didn't spoil during the event itself....
HAPPY ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY, LUWAT !
You probably heard it before, but I'm so thankful for this event. It allowed me to meet many friends, motivated me to finish projects that I seriously doubt would have ever been done without it, and all in all just makes the 1st of the month a fun day that I look forward to.
I tried to put as many references as I could in this banner, I definitely missed joked but it is starting to get a little crowded haha !
I hope my silly banner is at least amusing to you, and that it properly conveys my love and gratitude to the mods and admins of the event.
And to the fellow WAT-ers, I can't wait to write with you all again next month !
#lu write a thon#linked universe#love you so so much too Lenn#this event means so much to us as well#this is our new desktop wallpaper (with permission) I want you all to know
