Inviting the world of the internet to interact with my videos on another level...
Tear them to pieces! Make awful, horrible gifs and memes and parody videos to your heart's content. Prizes for anyone who can really rip my work apart!
(Positive reaction-content encouraged as well. But let's be real. Where's the fun in that?) (Everywhere. I think it is really fun to be nice. Everyone just needs to love one anther and be friends.)

Falling apart, literally (green screen)
Avant Garde explained and demonstrated (avant garde is a good excuse to make a lower physical quality seem purposeful)
What would you take with you if you could go to the past, and could only take one/a few items?
Collections (And collection obsession)
Is My Face for You to See? (Does being in public give strangers the right to look too closely?)
Magic is Real (instances of telepathy and loose explanations/perception)

How to Advertise Yourself
While your odds of hitting it off with a large number of subscribers immediately after starting up a Youtube channel are rather slim at best, you're definitely not going to get any subs if no one knows you have a channel.
Bringing it up every now and again to your friends and family can be a good initial promotional move. These are people who already have an interest in you, and will look at your content if you ask them to, and will give you encouragement and support during the slow growth phase there at the beginning.
Don't forget about the billions of people out there that you don't already know! These are the ones that are tough to engage. Most people will resist picking up new channels to watch, particularly if they found out about the new channel through an invasive post or ad. That being said, don't lose hope! There are good (or at least better) ways of advertising without being stigmatized as a "spammer" or shameless "self-promoter."
"Don't be a channel with a tumblr account," to paraphrase the Reddit community guidelines. Be a person with a tumblr account who also happens to make Youtube videos. On your other social media accounts, post interesting content and interact positively with other users and their posts. Do reference and post links to your videos, but do so sparingly. Let them blend in with your other quality content, rather than stand out as blatant view-bait. Your videos will still get the added exposure and traffic sources necessary for growth, but will do a much better job of avoiding being dismissed as invasive or low-quality.
The bottom line is, whether you are interacting with strangers on the internet or with friends in real life, remember that they are not as excited about your videos as you are. Take a more reserved approach, and enjoy just interacting with them and appreciating the great expanse of content that is out there in the world, before dropping a hint that you've consolidated a bit of your worldly experience into a new video over on Youtube. Everyone will appreciate the new, more human you.

IF I every make it anywhere, I hope one of the first things I do is apologize to everyone who had to put up with me during the enthusiastic "advertising" phase. I'm so sorry.

Both Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are bad candidates for the presidency. Therefore, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton must be in the same family of things. Hillary Clinton is a democrat.
Conclusion: Donald Trump is a democrat.

"Relatable"
I've seen a lot of Youtube comments lately praising 'tubers for relatable content, or describing their videos as "very relatable." Is this the new standard in Youtube videos? A video is good if the opinions or statements expressed in it are in some way the same as those had by the viewer?
If I were to make a list of things that keep me coming back for more, "has the same thoughts as me" or "lives a similar life to me" probably wouldn't be somewhere near the top. Things that change my mood, things that educate me, and things that introduce me to a new place or new way of living tend to rank well in my internal interest database. I may have nothing against videos that are merely "relatable," but I tend to let those Youtubers slip from my mind, enthused in the meantime by other content creators.
What do you think? Is "very relatable!" the new "nice!"?

How to Youtube: Post Videos Regularly
Hello Fellow Youtubers!
In case this point hasn't been driven home hard enough yet: it is a (very) good idea to post your daily, weekly, monthly videos to Youtube at the same time each day, week, month... and so on.
The program that produces the site we know as Youtube is smart. It can tell when you're being regular with your uploads, and is more persistent about sharing them with your subscribers if it has picked up on an upload pattern.
I am no expert and am only sharing a tip that I myself have been resisting... but the truth is in the code.
Find this and a few other tips in HitFilm's video on the subject...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJGalPXl0-A
Happy videoing!
(of course, it helps to have subscribers... maybe that will be a tip for another day)
