International Women’s Day for many, and for me, the day I came out to everyone, ironic really… “hey mum… by the way I’m non-binary” but I swear I love women!!

I want to see support and love for all types of women. Especially my mum :P

This piece was created based on my partners love of playing cards and exploring gender identity.

Till death do us part…

…or, as it was originally, “till death us depart”. Found historically in marriage liturgy in the Book of Common Prayer published in 1549, and then changed to the more current version in 1662.

Caralynn Lippo states that Quakers were much more forward with their version of this saying, making their God a part of their union, “promising through divine assistance, to be unto them a loving and faithful partner, until it shall please the Lord by death to separate us.” …. Which YEAH, is a little intense. And to think some people still hold on to stale situationships.

What do I think of the saying? Well, death may be the only thing that can separate two people, an inconvenience really, but also a nice reminder that the person who we love (or once loved) aren’t going to be around forever, Thame that as you want.

Thinking about up-dos and lunatic fringes.

A lunatic fringe, popularised in the 1890’s, is a name given to woman's hair, where they may let the front of their hair hang down over their forehead. This name has two possible source; either the fact that the women looked like they cut their hair in a manic fashion, or that they looked like a lunatic. The up-do is a permanently stylish hairstyle throughout history. This is for many reasons, but primarily it is practical and pretty.
