Save me, Nickleback's songs about hot girls, oh, save me... Also, provide me with headcanons for my second favorite xcom twink, please and thank you. Sex mentions under the cut, let's go.
Anton has always been a diva, he knows he's absolutely gorgeous, and he uses this trait of his wherever he needs. Like, full on sleeping his way up to promotions before the war, if he so pleased. Selling his body for favors he wanted or needed, all nine yards.
Don't be mistaken, though, he is very picky. There is no soliciting him into doing something he doesn't want to do, and absolutely no pressuring or trying to force him; the last idiot who tried got his dumb jaw broken - let's not forget, that Anton is quite athletic, after all, even more so after the invasion started. Is he a whore? Sure is, but he is an expensive, luxury whore, thank you very much.
...and hey, who's a better partner for a luxury slut than a broody criminal, huh? Those two were meant to be, aesthetically speaking.

This one was a struggle I brought upon myself lmao
Behold! Moxrider! As inspired by one of those clinch romance novel covers, specifically the one I'll be putting under the cut. I wanted an excuse to draw these two and that was my entire excuse.
You know, I don't draw more realistically-designed characters all that often lol (and I 100% did not want to yassify either of them, they're specifically so attractive because of that realism). Also decided to make my own life easy and run with cell shading instead of a more involved style, because I wanted this done within a human lifetime
I should find more excuses to draw these two honestly
Anyway, inspo under the cut!

🌈 Victor :3
Places! As a young noodle/thin man Victor often dreamed of different times and places: giant forests, vast meadows, old ruins, beautiful architecture, volcanoes, beaches - the list goes on and on. What do all these dreams have in common? He's alone in all of them.
Not in a bad way, mind you! Unlike his nightmares, he doesn't feel alone in these dreams. Instead, the most prominent emotion he feels is curiosity and excitement, anticipation, even. He can go wherever he wants, explore to his heart's content and, well, generally be free! For someone who spent most of his childhood in an incubator, then - in a pod and then on the battlefield (later - in xcom cage) having so much freedom was, perhaps, the most comforting thing about having these dreams.

🛏️ The Commander
Oh, the bittersweet dream... It's a rare occasion nowadays, yet it still leaves her with this... longing feeling.
She dreams of a small house in the middle of nowhere. A garden full of vegetables, flower beds along the house, an apple tree in the corner of the yard with a chair underneath it. She sees herself tending to her crops, or reading a book in the shade of the apple tree, or just sitting on a porch with a cup of tea. She doesn't see anyone else in those dreams, but she certainly hears a lot of things - distant barking, someone chopping wood for the fire... Children laughing, and running around, and playing.
"Mom, look!" is usually the last thing she hears before waking up. No matter how hard she tries, she never gets to go back to that dream.
#xcom 2035#ensoi lesnaya#matriarch speaks#for the eu timeline this is more of a sweet prophecy since she gets to actually live that life after they win the war#but for xcom 2 it's nothing more than a glimpse of a life that was stolen from her

📿 Lucinda
Lucinda often dreams about water. However, there is one particular setting that often leaves her with this uneasy feeling; in these dreams she finds herself on top of a cliff, looking down at a vast ocean.
Sometimes it's calm and she just relaxes watching the small waves. Sometimes the storm is raging down below, and she is soaked, and she can do nothing but stand at the edge and watch enormous waves crush against the cliff again and again. And sometimes - these dreams leave her feeling physically sick to the point of vomiting several times after she wakes up - nothing makes sense. Water rises from the ocean like a reverse waterfall, patches of land are floating around. And there is this... nauseating anxiety crawling beneath her skin, like some sort of living parasite, and this thing wants out.
Not that she knows what exactly these dreams mean, they just feel important. All I can say, Lucinda is lucky she doesn't live to the point said dreams become the reality.
#xcom 2035#lucinda del rosa#matriarch speaks#technically Geist could've told her about the true meaning of the things she saw#but he decided against it and... maybe it was for the best

I'm making a playlist for Victor, and I'm- Not exactly surprised, but...
I memed about him being my silly little danger noodle so much, I genuinely forgot about what exactly I put into his character in the first place - sorrow for the past he couldn't have, alienation, anxiety, yearning from home he has never seen.
Lo and behold, his playlist so far consists either of "russian doomer" music or the most 2010 emo stuff you could find in old creepypasta-themed playlists. I'm strongly considering making "Don't you dare forget the sun" his main theme for the time being.
TW: depression, suicide thoughts under the cut
While he was not actively suicidal, it makes me think about the facade Victor puts up when he's away from the Commander. It got so, so much worse while he was the Speaker.
People think the Speaker is calm and collected, so confident in both himself and the ADVENT troops that he doesn't flinch once if there were assassination attempts on him or general commodities in the area.
Deep down, Victor knows he didn't make a run for it, because getting killed in a random attack sounded infinitely better than living like this.

Projecting more stuff onto my self-insert Commander o'clock!
I'd imagine she'd get as much into reading after her coma, as I am now, reigniting my love for books after a long hiatus in my late teen years. Considering her chaotic surroundings, it would make a nice hobby to unwind. Given, I also imagine she'd have to read them on her tablet - it's not like paper books are as easy to come by after the invasion anyway. But maybe it's for the best?
After all, the last thing she needs is her staff wondering why their Commander loves "housewife-tier-romance-books" so much.
#xcom 2035#ensoi lesnaya#matriarch speaks#they would see her staring at her screen with the most focused face imaginable and go “ah Commander must be studying something”#meanwhile she's in the middle of the steamiest smut scene#or someone would see her suddenly take off and disappear into her quarters#...because god damn it Stephanie just got together with her enemies to lovers bf and this is so cute and she needs to ugly cry asap#and OF COURSE she will ask Tygan to read something aloud to her as she's drifting off to sleep (when they get closer of course)#I mean have you heard the man? He's a perfect reader and I will die on this hill#savior of humanity my ass... my Commander is nothing but a lost woman learning how to live with herself again#and this is exactly why she is so important to me
