Removing his trench coat is like peeling off his skin, leaving his bones all too bare. Akechi’s arms lay too small in his sleeves. His shoulders are too narrow, his fingers too thin. He feels his bones heavy against the cold wooden desk and doesn’t know whether to run or to cry or to scream.
He settles for running his thumb over the fingers of his right hand, hoping the repetitive, grounding motion saves him at least a thread of comfort…
It is 85 degrees and Akechi is cold.
