#oh fuck i love that he acknowledged it#how's the bpd going madame#i would assume it's because of difference in writing team- but it's this aspect that I've noticed degraded in recent works#which is a shame since it's by far my favourite aspect about him-- projecting aside#and the issue isn't so much that he healed from it but rather that I'm not entirely convinced by the progression with which they wrote it#it doesn't feel earned. its not gradual and there's no real change in his environment that significantly would allow for it#in Ragnarok he mellows out quite quickly; he's significantly more calm about being mistreated by those around him than he used to be#and as brash as it may seem i do not believe his time being a ruler under a constant guise would be the thing to mellow him out#not only is he forced to essentially not live as himself-- constantly putting up a front like he's done his whole life#meaning he has no room to heal from his identity issues#(besides gassing himself up in the eyes of his people with the statue and the glory of the play-- which is all superficial mind you)#the throne was also something he chased more out of validation#the wonderful line 'i only ever wanted to be your equal' comes to mind#which sure he got to some extent- but the way he earned it and lived through it isn't gratifying#while i do think he'd be the type of person to be able to gain some gratification from coming above those who wronged him#with the scale of his issues I don't believe it would heal him entirely#which is what the film essentially did#as for the tv show it runs along a similar issue; the pace at which it makes him show him adapt feels rushed#hes fresh out of avengers at that point. he wouldn't warm up to someone in a massive position of power above him within 3 days#while i do give the show the credit for wanting to show his vulnerability in his dependence on other's validation and reverence from-#-a different angle#i wish it did it a bit different#especially if you look at it from a bpd reading- meaning some aspect of that rapid mood change would always persist#which is my own bias so it doesnt really count but i digress#I don't think it's as foul to miss a huge significant aspect that made up what made a character interesting as people make it out to be#loki#tom hiddleston#gifs#loki laufeyson#mcu

adam warlocks character in the third movie was a perfect origin story but nobody cared because it wasn't "comic accurate" because all anyone ever cares about is comic accuracy instead of finding the beauty in new stories that the mcu creates for these amazing characters.
dont ever say adam was nerfed in vol. 3 to me again he was simply a child and didnt know how to use his powers
#I'll say this athousand times: people do not understand how adaptation works#when you work under a different medium you have to adapt the thing you're working on to fit said medium#otherwise the story has the chance of being underwhelming compared to the original or falling flat entirely#a good example of this is how with httyd when animating it they had to change so much because the original story and artstyle-#-simply didn't fit the medium#not to mention the point of adaptation isn't to make a perfect faithful copy of the source material#its fanfiction#very often when given the opportunity to retell a story they'll take a familiar scene#and see what new stories they can tell with it#they take the foundations of characters and see what they can do to write an interesting story under the same vein#its not SUPPOSED to be the same. it's supposed to be familiar#nor is it supposed to be an inherent improvement on the source material. it's simply a fun writing exercise#I'm not well educated on warlock in the comics besides the evil alter#but i adore this approach they gave him#he can go god mode later lads. dw. this is simply setting bedrock for the character#and i enjoyed it. it has a lot of solid themes going on that fit the character of adam warlock#theres the neurodivergent coding in having someone who was born into a society they weren't meant for of course#but what really draws me is the themes of overbearing parenthood#he's being kept emotionally immature by having a somewhat overbearing mother#not to mention quite literally born too early- given no time to emotionally mature or adapt before being tossed into life#all the while he's still expected to carry out his duties and life like everyone else and being berated when he doesn't understand#or feels unsafe#he's forced to grow up and figure it all out by himself#when it's the same people who force these burdens upon him that made him lack that development#it reflects especially well in the final scene where he's sitting wrapped in his fuckass blanket#it's a somewhat infantile looking display but that's the point#he's lost his mother before getting the chance to grow up and now he's alone having to figure everything out by himself#having gone through things he doesn't fully understand#and he DOES slowly mature in his arc which is great. love this guy- the delectable stick of butter#adam warlock

maybe it's just me but I'm so tired of seeing autistic headcanons for characters that clearly have a personality disorder instead. we really are invisible aren't we
#people vastly underestimate how much mental disorders overlap#ESPECIALLY on social aspects. theres a bunch of ways to have difficulty in social situations#very complicated and deep cut ones to be precise. to narrow all of it down to autism is shallow#which is fair given peoples general low understanding of how minds work#even people with autism often don't understand the full extent of why and how it works. which aspects come from their youth or which is tism#probably also why pds are so underdiagnosed#that being said: bpd loki laufeyson when i get you bpd loki laufeyson
