I LOVE IT I NEED MORE

The wind tore at the landing platform, pouring rain threatening to swallow Tobruk whole; She stood steadfast nonetheless — trembling in every bone, but strong, determined, unmovable like a rock in the face of the storm. All of her life she’d been taught to choose right from wrong — the univeral law in the galaxy, necessary to maintain peace and order… but what if the moral had been poisoned from the very start? What if the ‘good’ had been injustice all along?

The Empire was her home and had given her purpose, but the mask that blinded her had slowly been slipping off her face until she could no longer deny its crimes in the eyes of truth. The Empire was a monster and it had almost suceeded in devouring her.

Waking up came at a price. First her people. Ghorman. Gone, just another mark of annihilation left in the wake of an ever hungry monster’s path — but this one… yes, this one... somehow, it was worse.

“Not another step,” Tobruk’s voice fought to rise over the raging tempest, the electric blue glow of her baton competing with the lightning stretching over the nightsky. “I’m warning you.”

Behind her, Lyra and Galen cowered defensively, perhaps regretting trusting her. Deep down, Tobruk herself felt regret borne of her own doubt, but she could no longer stand by and watch. She had to do the right thing — no matter how small — even if it killed her. Even if it meant losing all she had left. “I mean it, Orson.” She grit her teeth. “I told you before. You can’t stop me.”

She swallowed as she gazed upon her lover — for the first time not as equals, but as adversaries. She’d made her choice. But would he? Would he abandon it all for her?

She could only foolishly hope.
