JOEY

   Coming all the way from Salisbury, Maryland, 23 year old ,Joey, is bringing mad vibes to our box state home! This Gemini/Cancer cusp has been in Denver for four years and he's making sure we know about it! After checking out Joey’s Youtube channel “Joey” I encountered several different singles from heartfelt melodies, to strong trap beat hitters. “I’m into every kind of music, so I’d say [I’m] diverse.”  

                        The first song that I encountered on Joey’s channel was “Outta Time”. This soulful song says all the words you wish you could say to “the one that got away”. Joey uses a play on words as well as a catchy melody to send his message through song. “Most of the time I start thinking about my ex and that has been fueling this album I’m making”

     What sticks out the most to me about Joey is his creativity. Besides his edgy look, usually including curly blonde hair and diamonds, Joey shows his creative views through his highly entertaining music videos. My favorite music video on his page is the official music video for “Antidope”. This music video uses Joey’s melodies scenic views, great lighting, and yes, dirt bikes, to make it look like a scene straight out of Mad Max!

                 Want more from Joey? Well you’re in luck! He has two new singles out now called “Hey Now” and “You Hate Me”! You can expect Joey’s music to be “centered around a vibe and an escape for people to get an inspiration all the time” Don’t forget to look out for his new album dropping this Halloween!

TONY V

    20 year old  New York fashion designer ,Tony V aka Bashy,  has a unique look that is bringing color and taste to the Denver scene. After viewing his Instagram and Facebook accounts, I realized this guy had a lot of creative energy to share with the world. Each featured outfit seemed to come together with not only colors but stories and themes.

           One of my favorite outfits on Tony V’s Facebook page is an orange and green camo collective. This outfit features Ian Connors “Orange Camo” sneakers from his Revenge x Storm shoe line. The main focus is an orange and camo utility jacket accompanied by warm brown jeans and a silver link chain connecting on two spots at the waistband.

                  Accessories for this collective include a black and white belt from lead Louis Vuitton menswear fashion designer Virgil Abloh’s clothing line Off White. It is topped off with a bright orange beanie, orange oval shades, and an orange digital watch.

               Though each outfit was unique and it’s own, there was something that seemed to always linger. The phrase “GYAL” seemed to be reappearing through Tony V’s posts. First multi colored on a bag, then in white letters on a fashionable blue and turquoise jean jacket. I started to wonder what this could mean.  “GYAL is brand releasing in October”, we can expect the line to include multiple styles of streetwear, which is Tony V’s main focus. I am excited and intrigued to see what Tony V’s Fall Collection has to offer, as well as any other projects he has! Aren’t you?

BitchItsYoungRezz

           21-year-old Denver native BitchItsYoungRezz is breaking the scene with his creative and entertaining toons! The first track I encountered upon receiving his submission was “Out of My System”. This upbeat fun loving track is exactly what you put on in a car full of friends on a night out. Not only does this track make you want to move, but it brings comedy with Rick and Morty sample “Taking things for Granite” from the “Morty Mind Blowers” episode.  

         His creative works remind me of those produced by Mac Miller and Tyler the Creator. You can feel the carefree spirit in his voice, as well as the ambition. This type of music does not have a genre, it simply is. “I’m a creative, so if I’m not working on anything music related, I’m working on a comic I started writing or designing my merch”. After looking further into his music I started to understand what meant by being a “creative”. He brings diversity with his song “PardonMyFlex” featuring Dwoods 2G and Ransteez. This catchy chorused song makes you feel like you’re at the height of your youth!

         Since officially joining the rap game roughly 5 years ago BitchItsYoungRezz has already released several songs as well as a project called Bad Behaviour. This artistic rapper is also included in a collective group of individual artists, designers , and close friends called G’hap Gang.

   “G’hap is an interchangeable acronym that was originally ‘Get High As Possible’ and is now a wide range of phrases including ‘Grind Hard After Peso’ and ‘ Growing Hemp and Push’. Our Fans often compare us ro A$AP Mob.”  

        Don’t overlook this Denver rapper as just a kid, because he fully intends to put in some real work in the mile high music scene. “I’d say I’m an artist of all mediums, I produce and write my own music and do graphic design as well as the stories I write”. Don’t forget to look out for his up and coming project Saturday Morning Cartoons dropping October 6th!

Katie Chapman

   When I asked 20-year-old painter, Katie Chapman, to send me her artwork, I had no idea what I was asking. When the first wave of paintings were submitted: a boat sailing on a sunset ocean, a midnight mountain city, as well as a cool blue guitar accompanied by colorful keys, I was in awe. I temporarily left my small Denver apartment and went to each place. The best part was, they just kept coming!  “I’ve been painting since 2nd grade, but of course I’ve improved since then” Katie tells me during our online chat  “All of the paintings I make art are Modernism, Abstract, Pop Art, and Portraits. All of the paintings I make are used with acrylic paint.”

         The second wave of photos hit me harder than the first: A distant galaxy, elephants strolling near sundown, an abstract women, and a sick boombox. It’s hard not to see the bounty of creative potential here. She does not just paint, she does more, so I asked her what it was.  “....they are just pictures; of course art is a language of its own and when I fail to express myself through words, my paintings help me. When i’m painting i'm in a world of my own, I feel happy.”

           And that’s when it hit me, that’s exacting what I saw in every picture, a story, a place, a time, a feeling. I continued Katie and I’s online interview by digging a little deeper, I wanting to know what sparked such mass creativity. I wasn’t surprised when I heard that most of her creative muse comes from her father, who happens to be an artist himself.

      So what can we expect from this hot new Painter?  "I’d love to dabble in photography as well, I love taking pictures on my iPhone 8 plus, but I would be ecstatic to get a professional camera!”  If the future looks anything like Katies artistic past, then sign me up! I couldn’t have enjoyed doing this story anymore than I did. Not only is she a bombshell, but she has the brains to match. Just from seeing her paintings, and asking her random questions, I got a journey of creativity sent my way. Don’t forget to look out for this girls up and coming character series project!

“Why you so short with an ass like that?”

        20-year-old, Carl Manderin, is an Alternative Indie artist bringing his east coast vibes from New Jersey, all the way to our Box State! After listening to his “Ass Like That” Remix, I was not surprised to hear he’s been making tracks for the past 8 years! With the wavy vibe and catchy lyrics of his music it’s hard not to sing along. Not only is he making hot jams to get your groove on, but he’s writing food for thought as well. Look out for this Libra’s upcoming mixtape Mandyland 2018! I know I will!

LAZY SHOTTA

If you’ve been in tune with The Apple Instagram page @yestheapple then you’ve already heard this guy’s heat! 21-year-old Denver native Lazy Shotta put me on my feet with his new mixtape Rebirth of a Shottah. The first song on this nine-track mixtape is “Why” and it could not have started off any better! The catchy chorus mixed with a bumping trap feel, leaves you wanting to see what else Lazy has to offer. It’s hard to believe he only officially started rapping three months ago! Despite what people think this guy does not mess around! 

           “People always think I’m either scary or soft...” Lazy told me during our online interview, “...I tell stories and I am progressing to make better and better music as I go. Ion rap about cars unless I been in one. Ion like to lie when I rap, [and] I plan on trying to tap in with all kinds of music”

        He goes on to tell me that Reggae, close to that of Bob Marley’s Exodus, or Rock similar to Lil Wayne’s Rebirth, should not be overlooked when dealing with this determined Gemini.        This 20-year-old is breaking the scene with her “diverse visual” modeling! Though she’s been modeling all her life, this loving Aries sun child started to take things seriously at only age 12! Not only does she model but she’s an artist and occasional singer. Look out for her up and coming ceramics and drawn works of art! Something most people get wrong about this natural queen is that she’s rude as hell! But don’t be fooled, she has nothing but love and positivity to share with her fellow Denver natives.
