I am a FIRM believer in Game Archiving and Preservation. So in the spirit as such, I will be uploading as much of the original 1957 edition of the Nancy Drew Board Game as I can, so others can print out and use it to play. This edition of the game has been out of print for years.

This is what I was practicing for when I posted those HAU sketches a while back. :)

I’m a printmaker, so you can imagine how stoked I was that there was a Nancy Drew game with printmaking in it!

This past semester for my printmaking class, I decided to make a series of prints illustrating books I’ve read.  Near the end of the semester, I thought it might be fun to make an illustration of a Nancy Drew game rather than a Nancy Drew book, and of course I thought the best game to illustrate for this would be The Haunting of Castle Malloy.  :D

I also thought it would be fun to kind of play with the fact that Carolyn Keene is actually a bunch of different authors. So I wrote a little description of the scene as if it actually came from a novelization of the game and credited it to Carolyn Keene instead of myself.

Unfortunately I wasn’t paying attention and messed up on the ‘a’ in ‘Banshee’ in the first print and tried to make it look a bit better in the second one.

Day 12:

I’m fond of any second chances that come about from Nancy doing something dumb rather than possibly doing a puzzle wrong and giving Nancy food poisoning by making her eat a nasty ass sandwich is peak dumbassness and I love it.

Day 11:

SAW’s story is a beautiful tale of family tragedy and grief and what built up miscommunication between loved ones can do and it’s perfect. The clues we find as to what happened to Kasumi that imply certain things but leave the answer up to interpretation. The subtle clues to the culprit that you might only pick up on in a second play through. Some great poignant dialogue on the nature of ghosts and guilt. It’s all just *chef’s kiss* perfect. One of the best examples of a Nancy Drew game doing a darker storyline.

Day 10:

CAP is not my favorite game but darn do I love me some Raid and Monster. Mix in a little Nancy, Ned, and Frank drama to sweeten the mix and I could drink from this koolaid awhile before it kills me.
