I feel like tumblr should be bigger fans of The Blues Brothers. It's a movie that has everything we value as a community. Attention and respect to pioneering black musicians, open hostility to nazis, open defiance to police, Carrie Fisher with a rocket launcher and flamethrower, a soundtrack that goes hard as hell, John Belushi so blasted on cocaine that he continues to do somersaults despite having a broken ankle. It's got it all!

2/27 Supertopic Admins Court Verdict Announced

The verdict has been announced for the court case of those who hosted the 2/27 supertopic, which was the central hub through which some of the most extreme cyberbullying was perpetuated against Xiao Zhan.
The verdict was handed down on 11 July 2025, but was only made public today. Both defendants were found guilty, fined a total of about 11k Yuan and ordered to post apology letters.
I think most will agree, this is a paltry, deeply inadequate punishment for the suffering these people caused. It's infuriating, and an insult to any meaningful sense of justice.
At the same time, it's important to finally have a court decide in Xiao Zhan's favor and put official backing behind the fact that he was mistreated in outrageous, immoral ways. It only further establishes his innocence in what happened. He was the victim, here.
There's not much more to be said. I'm glad there is acknowledgement and that he won his case. Hopefully this gives further closure on the whole nightmare.
Translations of the verdict and apology letters below:
