When you are too broke for an actual 6x6, Fuji’s JPEG engine comes in clutch. Actually really hype with how these came out. And of course you have to do a blåhaj themed shoot.

Side note that the one-two-three punch of Blue Beetle, the Good Omens finale, and then saying bye to my childhood best friend before moving was quite devastating. I’m glad a bought a blåhaj. Sometimes the stereotypes have it right.

Blue Beetle didn't simply entertain me, it didn't just make me laugh, it made me HAPPY.

This film nailed the feel of the comic - a crazy family that balances trying to help and being worried about their boy, a hero trapped in a suit that could destroy the world, and Susan Sarandon.

Ted's not IN the movie, but he's all OVER it. And that made me so tickled. It's the first film they've done that addresses the idea of legacy in the super hero world.

I have no idea how well the film is going to do this weekend, but I'm really hoping ws can use the power of word-of-mouth to help it pull an Elemental and actually do BETTER next week, and the week after.

I'll let James Gunn take the credit for this film as the first one under his umbrella, but this is solely due to the work of director Ángel Manuel Soto and writer Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer. They delivered a film that is very much a look at Hispanic family and culture, and still holds its own as a rock solid superhero movie.

blue beetle (2023) has what i can only describe as sharkboy & lavagirl swag if you’re wondering. it knows perfectly well that the sci-fi visual elements are hard to suspend disbelief on, so it embraces that fact with a rainbow of color gels, pearlescent luster finishes and blue lightning. it’s not “believable” by like, mcu standards, and it’s not trying to be, it embraces camp with open arms and looks so much better than if they’d tried to play it off straight.

one thing andor does right (among many) is how terrifyingly accurate it shows true fascism.

after the aldhani robbery, the ISB casually decides in a meeting that now every crime is a class one offense. they just sit together in a meeting and decide to doom millions of people as a sign. the empire doesn't care.

we see the flashbacks of Clem and Cassian, and we see that Clem tried to calm down and stop the protestors. And yet he still got hanged for it, because the empire doesn't care.

we see the shore trooper areesting cassian for nothing, having him choked by a K2 unit just because he can, and then he gets sent to court with no way to defend himself and his sentence just gets randomly pushed up from 6 months to 6 years. because the empire doesn't care.

star wars, for years upon years, has always depicted the empire as the bad guy, sure, but you were rarely terrified of them. stormtroopers can't hit anything, the empire gets defeated by ewoks, atrocities are mentioned but seldom showed directly.

but here? here you see enitre long arm of fascism. you see the banality of it. it's everywhere, it follows you wherever you go, it keeps you on your toes all the time. it's everywhere and it's coming for everyone. even you.

I don't know about y'all but I thought this whole episode was terrifying, bone chilling and ice cold
