Jo Grant is incredibly hilarious to me as a character because she's the Doctor's government assigned best friend, and she's so good at her job that not only does she crack that grumpy motherfucker like an egg within a day of meeting him, but she also befriends his evil asshole situationship who he's divorced at least 20 times AND within a span of less than five minutes befriends his other weird dubious situationship who he picked up after she left who is so allergic to personal relationships of any kind that she had to be forcefully reverse adopted by 3 children to get her to be even a little normal, the latter of which occurred at the Doctor's funeral.

languages that don't distinguish between formal and informal you are missing out on so much petty drama. my grandparents have two neighbours who once got into a huge fight over something honestly pretty trivial, so neighbour A said he was going to revoke neighbour B's du (informal you) privileges. neighbour B was like "okay but can i use du one last time?" and neighbour A was like "yeah go ahead", and neighbour B said "du arschloch" (you asshole). incredible.

i love how the naming of the Silurians and Sea Devils makes absolutely no sense

in The Silurians, the Doctor seems to invent the term "Silurian" himself and everyone just starts using it.

in The Sea Devils, he claims that it is actually a misnomer and the correct term would be "Eocene". this term is then never really used again. meanwhile, "Sea Devil" is coined by some random guy and everyone just starts using it.

in Warriors of the Deep, even the Silurians and the Sea Devils themselves call each other "Silurians" and "Sea Devils". this is portrayed as completely normal.

in The Hungry Earth, the Doctor once again states that "Silurian" is an outdated term. despite this, everyone keeps using it throughout the new series.

in Legend of the Sea Devils, the term "Sea Devil" is acknowledged to be an actual slur. once again, everyone keeps using it.

i can't wait for The War Between the Land and the Sea. i hope it gets even more complicated.

Classic Who is amazing. You watch for twenty-three minutes as Doctor and companion wander around a quarry in Wales before someone walks up and points a gun at them. Blast theme tune. Next episode, turns out the person was holding it out to them because they thought it was the Doctor and companion's gun and that they'd lost it. No, it's someone else's gun. Whose gun? The FUCKING MASTER'S. AGAIN.
