Basically just Sidon being a teasing little shit towards Link. Casual stuff.

Night has fallen upon Zora’s Domain and Link stands alone in the Sleeping Chamber, watching the waterfalls silently, pondering about his quest to find Princess Zelda. He hasn’t really taken a break, yet – though he feels as though he shouldn’t get this luxury. Zelda is potentially in grave danger.

But she would agree that taking a moment to stop and reflect is probably a good idea.

“I must say, you are wearing this ensemble amazingly.”

Link turns around and sees Sidon. His chest flutters. Sidon makes his way to him and places his hand on his shoulder – which is covered by the Frostbite Armor.

“You look stunning,” he continues. “I like this, right here, a lot.”

Sidon’s trails down the bare skin of Link’s back, his fingers brushing lightly along the hero’s spine.

He hums at first, but then awkwardly squirms, emitting a sudden, strange shriek. Sidon’s quickly moves his hand away.

“Oh, Link!” he says. “I apologize if I’ve made you uncomfortable.”

“No, no!” Link anxiously stammers in response. “You tickled me, that’s all. Don’t worry about it.”

“You’re ticklish?”

Link freezes and instantly blushes. This is why I don’t fucking talk, he thinks to himself. He hesitates.

“No,” he stutters. “That’s not… what I meant.”

Sidon smirks, raising an eyebrow at the puddle of a flustered Hylian standing next to him.

“It is, however, what you said, dear.”

“It’s a Hylian expression.”

“Oh, I’m sure it is. Maybe I’ll trust you on that statement…”

Sidon stares at Link for a moment, his smirk unmoving. Link stares back at him and squints playfully.

“Or,” Sidon continues, “I could tickle you and see for myself.”

“You wouldn’t.”

“I thought you knew me better than that, my dear.”

“People are sleeping!”

“They’re underwater.”

“Sidon – Ahah, wait! Stay back!”

Link backs away, almost stepping into a pool, before Sidon wraps his arms around his waist and traps him in an embrace.

Link is already sputtering out giggles. It makes Sidon’s heart sing. Link rarely every laughs this much, so these occasions need to be cherished… and encouraged.

“My, oh my! I have yet to lay a finger on you and you are already losing your composure,” Sidon teases, placing his hands on Link’s sides. “This is positively hilarious.”

“Because I know what you’re about to do, don’t you da – AHAH!”

Link’s words turn into a loud guffaw as Sidon’s fingers trail along his back once again. Link arches his back and covers his mouth. Sidon laughs.

“Oh, apologies, dear Link,” he jokes, “but I’m afraid I can’t understand what you’re trying to vocalise. Your laughter is making it difficult.”

“Nohohonsense!”

“See, you’re going to need to articulate.”

Sidon’s hand moves to Link’s tummy, causing him to further laugh his little Hylian heart out, his hands weakly pushing at Sidon’s wrists. Sidon knows Link could push him away. If he wanted to, that is. The thought makes him chuckle.

“Are you even really trying to stop me?” he says, his hands showing no sings of stopping their ambush as Link roars with boyish laughter. “Have I actually brought down the kingdom’s most legendary hero with a simple tickle to the belly?”

Link writhes around in Sidon’s grip, his arms moving to loosely cover his stomach, but Sidon’s hands do not stop. The teasing either.

“Maybe, all across Hyrule, we will now hear tales of Prince Sidon, Sage of the Water, vanquishing the knight who wields the sword that seals the darkness.”

“Lies!” protests Link, in between his frantic giggling.

Sidon stops his playful attack and Link hiccups through his laughter, catching his breath for a moment.

“Not ticklish at all, you were saying?”

Link shakes his head. Sidon immediately begins to tickle him again. Link’s knees buckle from under his body and he falls in the taller man’s embrace, in stitches.

“Fihihine! Okahahay, okay, I’m ticklish, I give! You win –”

Sidon stops, and Link melts against his chest, panting a bit.

“Now was that so hard?” Sidon teases.

“I’m so embarrassed,” Link chuckles, blushing. “It’s just so stupid. I’m supposed to be this brave, strong person, and I fall apart if you touch me a little funny.”

He looks up at Sidon, who looks back at him with a gently smile.

“Isn’t it odd?” Link continues. “I shouldn’t be like this.”

“I, for one, am very glad that you are.”

Sidon kneels in front of Link to match his height a little more. Link stares into his eyes.

“I am glad you are the way that you are. The way that you are is the reason I’ve come to admire you so, and continue to grow increasingly fond of you, every day I spend with you.”

Link’s eyes tingle as his lips show a thankful smile. Sidon holds his hands and takes a deep breath, pausing for a few seconds, before speaking again.

“I… never tire of the feelings I hold for you.”

“Oh, good grief.”

Sidon and Link turn to the side to find a fairly annoyed Muzu, who they hadn’t heard walk in. Link hides his blushing face in his hands. Sidon stammers and gets back up.

“Oh – Muzu, what a surprise, you’ve made your entrance so quiet –”

“Spare me the details,” Muzu says, turning around. “I’d rather not hear them. I haven’t heard a thing. Go on with your courting. I’ll give you your privacy.”

Sidon instantly reddens. Link looks up at him.

“O-Okay, Sorry,” Sidon responds. “Good night, Muzu.”

“Good night to you. You too, Sir Link.”

Link nods. Muzu steps into a pool and disappears under the water.

Link and Sidon exchange a look and immediately break into laughter.

“See?” Sidon says, pulling Link into a hug. “Now that was embarrassing.”

Link is smart, Sidon thinks to himself, but that doesn’t mean he’s not an idiot.

It’s not as if he expects Link to be invincible, immune to all kinds of danger. He knows that’s not the case; it never has been, it never will be. It’s just that there’s a difference between brave and reckless, and Link more often than not falls into the latter end of things. This is, of course, one of those cases.

He trails a claw down Link’s spine, near the now bandaged scrape. It’s not too bad, but still, it’s deeper than it looks. He wishes he had his sister’s healing powers. Nursing isn’t his strong suit.

“Honestly,” he murmurs, and Link shifts guiltily in his seat.

“I’m alright,” he signs, smiling sheepishly. 

Only because I noticed your injuries, Sidon muses in his head. You certainly wouldn’t have taken care of them yourself.

Despite his scolding, Sidon really doesn’t mind. It’s always a pleasure to see Link, even if it means having to bandage him up all the time. He’s taken to keeping some extra supplies around just for when Link drops by. He playfully pokes at a spot on the boy’s lower back that he knows is sensitive, just to show that he’s not really upset. Link jolts, his back straightening as he tries arching away with a huff of laughter.

“Ticklish, are we?” Sidon teases, and Link turns to glare at him before his eyes are widening as he focuses on trying not to laugh. Sidon’s claw trails in circles around Link’s back, dangerously venturing towards his sides but never quite going there. Link manages to sign the first letters of Sidon’s name in protest before he’s wrapping his arms around himself protectively, ears reddening as he squirms.

Truth be told, Sidon had no idea Link was ticklish beyond the one spot. He’d only found that one out on accident, anyway; he tends to care for the injuries on Link’s back, since Link himself can’t reach there, and it had simply come up. So, now, you can’t really blame him for wanting to investigate a little, alright?

“My, this can’t be good,” he hums, gently scratching around the sides of Link’s back and making him arch forward with a gasp. “The hero of Hyrule surely shouldn’t have such a weakness like this.”

Link shakes his head, blushing. “Stop,” he tries to sign shakily, his hand curling into a fist halfway through.

“Consider this a punishment for not telling me you were hurt,” Sidon continues, trying to hide the fond smile showing in his voice. Without warning, he jabs both of Link’s sides at once, and Link yelps before finally beginning to laugh.

His laugh has always been quiet, for as long as Sidon has known him. It’s breathy, and he can barely hear it if there are other noises around, but Sidon thinks he’s absolutely in love with it.

There’s nothing else now, though. Just them, not even the waterfalls of Lanayru loud enough to cover Link’s giggles. Sidon is eternally grateful for that.

Sidon curls around to Link’s stomach, sending him into a new fit of giggling as he doubles over. His hands bat weakly at Sidon’s, and if Sidon didn’t know better he’d think that Link was trying to make him stop. Link is much stronger than this, though, Sidon knows firsthand. 

He’s tempted to dig in a little harder, make Link laugh even harder, but he decides against it in the end. Small, soft giggles are enough for now, and besides, Link is injured. Sidon doesn’t want to be too rough on him while the wound is still fresh. Link’s laughter is a bit raspy, likely due to his voice never being used. Sidon thinks it adds charm.

“You really are ticklish, then,” he hums. “I didn’t think it was possible to be so ticklish.” Link turns a pretty shade of pink, darkening every time Sidon says that word. Sidon won’t abuse that information—not yet, at least. He’ll make no promises regarding the future. He stores it away instead, only lengthening the list in his head of what makes Link so special. The items on the list are odd and mismatched, ranging from “saved the kingdom” to “will eat rocks without a second thought”, and maybe they don’t all make sense but that’s besides the point—the point being that Link is cute, and he’s pretty, and Sidon is absolutely enamoured by him.

Link raises his hands weakly, shaking with soft laughter, and Sidon stops tickling him just long enough to let him sign without interruption.

“Stop,” he manages, before he wraps his arms back around himself and continues to giggle. Sidon thinks he means it this time. He does look rather tired, and it’s nearly dark out. Sidon pulls away and waits for Link to regain his composure. Link turns and reaches out in an attempt to poke him, and Sidon doesn’t even know if Zora can be ticklish but he’s holding Link in his arms before either of them can find out. Link sighs quietly in defeat, resigning himself to getting his revenge some other day.

And get his revenge he does, days later when he’s fully healed and more energetic than ever, but it ends quickly because that also means that Sidon’s not scared of hurting him anymore.

“Please!” he frantically gestures the best he can, considering he’s on his stomach and Sidon’s got him pinned while he’s tracing Link’s back again—just to make sure it’s really healed. Nothing more, of course.

Sidon tilts his head as if genuinely considering the request. “Oh dear, is someone a bit too ticklish?” As intended, Link blushes brightly, quickly turning to hide his face but not before Sidon gets a good look at the red spreading across his freckled cheeks. It’s adorable, and Sidon thinks his heart is going to burst with adoration and affection.

It really is a shame that Mipha beat him to the Zora armour a hundred years ago.

Summary: Link and Zelda are heading to Rito Village so that Zelda can perform maintenance on the Divine Beast. But when Revali tries to fly Link up to the Divine Beast, things get a bit… feathery.

Link stood on the outskirts of Rito Village, watching Zelda. She was observing the salmon swimming in a small pond, pointing out their characteristics.

“See the scales on that one? It looks really big too, I bet it would make a rather hearty meal and – Link, are you listening?”

Link was broken out of his trance. He had been spacing out. He cursed himself silently; he shouldn’t be spacing out on the job, especially not with Zelda right there. It was bad for him, especially as her knight.
