A painter in Los Angeles kept missing his exit for the I-5 on the 110 highway, so he did his research, climbed up the overhead sign, and changed it himself without anyone noticing.

This is Richard Ankrom. He couldn’t find his damn exit, cuz it wasn’t properly labelled.  

So he took life by the balls, like any self-respecting Californian would do, and used his sign-painting expertise to fix it himself.

He called it ‘guerilla public service.’ Even got himself an outfit to look official. It worked, obvi.

Caltrans investigated, but the sign was actually up to code. They left it there for 8 years before they made an updated sign.

gender neutral terms

i had a convo about gender neutral terms for kids and parents and whatnot and we came up with zizi for me as an auntie. (from italian, i think, where Zio = uncle, zia = aunt so zizi could be the enby term)

so, what would be a good word for a pet parent?

I've heard nibling for niece and nephew, but some people don't like that one.

are there good words in other languages?

in Hawaiian, apparently makua can be used for “parent / aunt / uncle”, which I kind of like. And Sippe, is a German word for clan or extended family.

I've also heard titi as an enby term for aunt/uncle, coming from the Spanish tia/tio. Maybe dama for an enby mom/dad? Like a combo?

Nipe (nee-peh) for niece/nephew?
