A few days shifted to weeks. And a myriad of weeks nearly into a month – practically a month in a half, no need for the exaggerations for it was nothing but true. The rusty calendar given from your times in the RDA spoke clearly in that, and if it wasn’t enough, then every counting second, minute of every eclipse should’ve been.
A month and a half had passed since you and your three mates had spent proper time with one another, a week added to the last time you all shared a meal together; the four of you bound to be present around the fire the People had created, sharing dinner like every other day. Yet the spots that resided for them went missing; the Olo’eyktan, Toruk Makto, and tskarem or Palulukan Makto.
Coming nightfall, however, they’d return to you. Tsu’tey; the infamous stoned demeanor dropped and revealed the exhaustion etched deep within his angular features, Jake; the furrow of his brow that screamed stress somewhat softening, and Neytiri; the roundness of her eyes becoming much more prudent at the happiness she felt at being with each of her mates, each that complimented her as they did with one another. They lied within the large hammock the four of you usually resided in, the endearing entanglement of long limbs becoming one.
That was, of course, until you stepped out with a huffed giggle at the grumbles they made. You adjusted the woven necklaces gifted by none other than your lovely mates, threading your fingers through your coils, you decided to add a few minor-sized trinkets to them. After adding a final one, you had turned to peer at them, still laying sound asleep, the former marine’s head mushed beneath Tsu’tey’s relaxed jaw, arm thrown over his and Neytiri’s midsection, her cheek nuzzled over Tsu’tey’s chest. The Olo’eyktan’s gold irises came to view, a tenderness setting in them as he grinned adoringly, proudly. A grin he only ever stored for you, for Neytiri, for Jake alone. Unseen it was from others, only ever revealed when in the presence of his mates. “May Eywa grant you a great day, ma tìyawn ( love ). Go and do many wonderful things.”
A vibrant grin of your own illuminated your face before striding over and inclining forward to kiss the warrior you loved deeply. “Irayo, ma Tsu’tey ( thank you ). I will see you three tonight, yes?”
“Srane, tsawksyul ( yes, sun lily ). We will hear about your day.” While he muttered this in your ear, your lips had found their way down to Jake’s cheek, his ear flickering in response, and then to Neytiri’s just for her head to turn until her own lips sweetly met yours, then both your flushed cheeks. “I cannot wait to see you again, ma Y/N.”
And so you left your mates, anticipation sprouting through your being as you made your way outside the Hometree, excited to help the scientist, and your childhood mentor, Dr. Grace Augustine, reopened the school she established during your childhood, joyful to teach such young minds about many things — Na’vi way and the way Sky People lived.
Hours after a long, unchaperoned walk through the Forest later, you returned to the Hometree, just in time for the night’s meal with your People. Exhaustion settled into your bones, but the happiness to see your mates after a rather long day kept you going with a smile on your face. But instead, you were greeted with vacant areas. The peaceful chattering the People created slightly died down at the sight of you — witnesses to the disappointment radiating from you. While your chest ached, you managed to uphold a smile and gripped your bowl, greeting them as they motioned their fingers over their forehead, acknowledging you.
You made your way to your accustomed spot, however, not wanting to ruin the night for them, for the Tsahik had caught your gaze before you could even decide to leave and motioned you over with a single finger. “Oel ngati kameie, ma Tsahik.”
She returned the greeting, a hum following along as she noticed the flitting of your ears, the bright feather adorned behind one of them swaying with the movements. Before the question could even linger your tongue, “Where are my mates?” she cut through. “They decided to fly tonight. To patrol and see there is not any trouble with the other clans after the…damage with the Sky People.” Firmness edged your wise mother-in-law’s voice and you felt her carefully watching your every move, the way you took the smallest of bites to your food before setting it down. “Would you like to send someone for them –”
The heart confined inside your chest accelerated, being more than aware that the three of them had been unconvinced of the possibility that the Sky People would not return, especially with how many lives that were lost under the act of them. You couldn’t find it in yourself to part them from it.
“It is fine, ma sa’nok ( mother ). I do not mind, irayo ( thank you ).” She makes a hum, one made of discontent but respects your choice as you resume eating.
When you retreated to the hammock that night, it was the first night without their warmth, and you were unable to fight the sleep crawling upon you.
When morning came, your vision and your body had been greeted with the sight and feel of your mates sleeping. They’d crept into the hammock at some point during the night and apparently fell deep into night’s slumber for neither one stirred awake when you’d emerged and prepared for another day in Grace’s school.
And that was the start of an irregularity of their absence that had proceeded into a month in a half. And the coming 2 weeks they’d stop apologizing or bringing up excuses for their acts.
“Baby, 'm sorry. Can’t make it – I got too caught up with the young trainees, Tsu’tey had some meeting and now I’m on a small patrol and it’s turn into something else – Shit’s been a little crazy.” You had heard some sort of command come from Jake over the earpiece you — along with your other two mates — wear in case of anything. Now it seems it’s used to remind the skxawng about your little date — something small yet apparently he’s patrolling much more frequently than ever. Jake didn’t have the decency to pause whatever it was he was doing to come and stand you up face to face. Like he said, Tsu’tey had visited another nearby clan, duties as Olo’eyktan are inevitable to ignore and Neytiri had been under training as Tsahik with her Mother.
But even without the two, he found some ways to make whatever it was outside of the Forest far more important than his time with you.
“Not even a small moment, love? I have made lunch for you –” It would be clear and obvious to anyone hearing that you were beseeching him, but he was ignorant to it, too engrossed in whatever was occurring in the air.
“Nah, baby — it’s gonna have to wait till tonight. Bye.”
Tsu’tey had been no better than Jake.
“Ma Tsu’tey, where is it that you are? They are waiting, the kids in the school! They are anticipating the presence of their Olo’eyktan.”
“That is today—? Tsawksyul, is it alright to rearrange today’s event to another day?”
“What do you mean if it is alright to ‘rearrange for another day’? No, we cannot rearrange, Tsu’tey! Instead of attending their lessons, these bright minded children have been waiting for hours to see their beloved leader. You promised, Tsu’tey.”
“My love, I understand but I am caught up in something right now. Jake is assisting me for a few duties, then we must start gathering for a hunt in no less than a week.”
“Tsu’tey–”
“Later, tsawksyul. I will make it up to you.”
With that the line disconnected, a hissing pitch replacing his distant voice and resulting you with the little Na’vi children whose disappointed features were trying to be eased by both Grace and you.
Excuses and empty promises went unsaid now, simply not committing in showing up or explaining themselves.
At least Neytiri put effort in trying to inform you. Neytiri was slightly better in this area, for she’d find a way to make a sliver of time to spend together with you, even join you at night to at least share slumber. But at times, oblivious she was to the distress behind that smiling facade of yours. Your consistency of reassurance that it was alright seemed to have grown as second nature, because she could not tell the difference. That, or she at least tried to convince herself that you understood. That you were fine, that you knew they were trying, she was trying to add up to it all. to be certain of a future that may hold more than the four of you.
It had been precisely 2 weeks since they forgot a celebration that evolved around you — humanly celebrated, yes, but they — Tsu’tey and Neytiri, had always considered it ever since learning it in Grace’s school. Ever since learning you too had a part in this celebration of life and made a decision to always treasure it — treasure you. A celebration — mind you — that Jake, while he had informed that he did not really do this back on Earth, had been informed of and happily agreed to comply in it, and had forged it into a beautiful illusion, something you experienced as a child and refreshing to look forward to ; your birthday. It was not something custom for the Na’vi, to really celebrate things such as that, but both Tsu’tey and Neytiri found it somewhat oddly endearing that you all could participate in it.
“Birthday is … like a festivity of one’s birth … even if life is always celebrated here with Na’vi? But once a year?” Neytiri had questioned, a wonder speckling her gold hues while her ears had flitted up. Tsu’tey, the entire time had stayed silent, but the combined emotions of both awfully perplexion and curiosity twisting his face said enough — perplexed from how it was that humans could come up with such a thing, but curious as to how it would play out. The explanation rather seemed that way, how Neytiri described it, but except for it being presented to the Na’vi, it was something only you four could share and they could celebrate, and that is what led them to firmly agree that this would occur.
“ A special day to give much more thanks to our Great Mother for giving you to us, ma tanhì.”
“Never will I, we forget to bring you such joy the way you have given it to us so naturally, tsawksyul.”
‘We’ll do something nice for ya, babygirl. Celebrate ya, love ya, and I’ll thank every damn lucky star for giving me ya’ll, you.”
It had been a difficult time, you were more than well aware of that, but this day was one that never went unnoticed by Tsu’tey and Neytiri. Jake — while he had been, to put it frankly, ‘new to the party’ knowing how he was with you, you would have thought, hoped he too remembered it. They bathed you with loving acts on a daily basis, but when this day came around, ever since you three were children, when you were a little tawtute with two incredulously tall blue beings despite the similar age, it became a special and changing day, where it demonstrated that they were willing to put aside their differences with Sky People, and only think of and be with you.
The first birthday they’d spent with you, they had handcrafted you two beautifully beaded necklaces — two filled with promise, with love. The heartfelt accessory, which was always worn around your neck, now assisted with another Jake had handmade specifically for you — woven between was an emerald green mic to communicate with either three.
You resentfully spent most of the special day this year, fingers occasionally straying to those exact necklaces as an act of uncertainty. ‘We will do something soon. They will bring it up, I’m sure of it. Perhaps they learned what a surprise is and wanted to make it a bit more grand than what they usually do.’ You told yourself, trying hard to convince your mind and heart. Something a bit more grand they had to spend more than a day away from you so they would not ruin it.
Grace had taught the Na’vi students what a birthday was, and they had wished you a very happy one. Mo’at, ever since she witnessed the first birthday you had, granted you a year full of joy and blessings. Hell, even the Norm and the other science geeks from the human outpost greeted you with a, “Happy Birthday, Y/N” when you’d stop by.
All of them had blessed your damn day before any, any of your mates. Thirteen days later and they still had not spoken of it. You had excused a lot of their actions without question, and accepted their apologies with ease. But this time it was different. It was your birthday and they promised they would do something, anything with you for the day. Your excitement about the night stemmed from their own.
‘Patience is a virtue’, you have heard it said before. And yet, patience is a delicacy as much as peace. Without peace, there was no patience which you tended to carry within far more than the other three. But how was peace to remain when the tying sources of it were not there to participate? And when you awoke the morning of the fourteenth day since your birthday to the only feeling of biting air and sight of emptiness, that restraint of peace disintegrated, and with that, patience snapped, kindness fleeing along with it.
Hurt flared into fury inside of you, and you had every right to feel it.
The stroll down to the main hut became more of a march rather than the leisure of steps. Those who bowed their heads and signed at you went by unacknowledged, the ones who witnessed the scene before them made no effort in getting your way and simply dipped their heads timidly. Great rage preceded you, so when the veils were harshly pushed aside, it permeated the space within, vacuuming all of the focus and peace of the ones in there.
“Oel gnati kameie, ma Y/N.” One called Entu, a clueless at times warrior, spoke, then announcing your presence to the others as if they had not already seen you, with the obliviousness of what was to come next.
“Where are my mates, Entu?” They now stood a decent distance yet stepped away from the clutter of pieces and plans, your eyes sweeping across the room and coming up short of either one of them.
“Toruk is communicating with the humans right over there, preparing to leave. Neytiri is with Tsahìk, and the Olo’eyktan was on a flight to the Tipani Clan, currently returning as we speak.”
Currently returning? Tsu’tey had gone to the Tipani Clan and you had not been made aware of it. You had not been alerted that your own mate would be leaving for Eywa knows how long.
“ ‘m over here, baby—” Jake’s voice was muffled behind the other side of the hut, soon cutting off to speak to whoever it was in those mics, and you without a doubt could not take it anymore.
“Everybody out,” The Na’vi language, it being your second you impeccably spoke it as if it was your natural one, erupted out of you. Jake, however, still needed much time to fully grasp the essence of the language and despite you and him sharing the fluency in English, you did not bother to translate your words for him, and you took command of the unfamiliar space.
Those few who were around, warriors, Tsahìk’s helpers, even one or two dreamwalkers who’d been brought in by Jake, glanced quietly at one another, unsure. “Now!”
That uncertainty was quick to fade away, all bidding you their respects and departure, leaving you and a perplexed looking Jake as he came into your view. His visor was over the crown of his head, forefinger against over the mic around his neck, his hand slowly descending down when you approached him.
“Babygirl, I don’t have any time for a break today. Norm and I have supplies that need to be dropped off by the end of—”
“I do not care about your idiotic supplies, Suli.”
Jake took a subtle step back, ear flitting at your usage of tone. “Ya do know you’re gonna have to translate that for me, baby. I’m not there yet.”
As his retreat, you took a full step forward, refusing to let him back away. “I do not give a shit about your supplies, Sully. I do not have time to deal with this anymore.”
His guard dropped, brows easing and no longer taking your distraction in the room a serious matter. “Y/N, what are you even talking about—”
When he walked towards his equipment — a gun and picked it up, you scoffed. Then he went to the other side of the hut with his fingers once more latching to his throat mic. “Hey, Norm, I’m still here—”
Jake could not even give you a moment to speak, nor have the moral decency to give you the respect you deserved.
You followed behind, watching as he started to adjust whatever he had going on. But you stepped between him and his companion, not giving a care to what he had been doing with his firearm. Jake jolted back and tore his attention away from his conversation. “Hey, don’t do that crap again — You don’t know what I’m doing with this, I could’ve accidentally gotten one of us hurt, y/n! What the hell is wrong with you?”
The flaps of the hut’s entrance ruffled, revealing both the presence of Tsu’tey and Neytiri, hand in hand, sauntering inside. Tsu’tey still has his flying gear on, visor soon disposed of when noticing the empty sight of the place. Neytiri, at first uncertain of the tension, let go of him and walked your way, enveloping you in a tight embrace. “Ma tanhì..”
“Y/N, what are you doing here?” Tsu’tey questioned with a kiss to the side of your head. “Where are the others?” He directed towards Jake as he repeated the action on him, hand resting over his back.
And if looks could kill, you and Jake would be buried 10 feet beneath the ground, neither of you removing your glower from the other.
“What has happened, ma Jake?” Neytiri inquired as she slowly let go to look at him then you.
“Oh I don’t know, why don’t you ask her?” Jake retorted with a click of his tongue. “She came in speaking some bull I couldn’t even understand and practically risked her life with things she doesn’t even have the decency to try and be careful with!” Putting the rifle on safety catch in order for it to prevent an accidental discharge before throwing it on the ground, Jake walked over to you. He was so close to the point where he could pull you into a kiss, yet the fury emitting from him told you he would not. “What the hell is the matter with you, huh?”
Tsu’tey quickly grabbed onto Jake’s upper arm and tugged him away in order to stop him from approaching you any further. Neytiri released a hiss of both surprise and anger at her mate’s antics, Tsu’tey’s brow bone hitching down and spoke up. “Tsyeyk, mawey. Y/N, what is happening?”
A deep chuckle filled with rage emerged from your body. It’s a hideous sound coming from you, one that stunned Neytiri, worry filled her golden gaze as you brimmed with emotions you did not usually possess. “This is the most attention I have gotten from either of you in weeks.”
“Attention?” Jake’s tail lashed now at the bewilderment he felt. “This is about you not getting any attention?” He turned to Tsu’tey. “Baby, we don’t have any time for this!” Swiveling back to face you and shaking his arm free from the Olo’eyktan’s grip, Jake was once again in your face, jaw tightening with every word. “Y/N, you’re not a child. We don’t gotta come running every time you beg and call.”
“That is enough!” Neytiri seethed and became the barrier in front of him to keep him away from you, her palms assisting in giving a hard shove to his chest. “You are acting like a child right now. Do not speak to her that way!”
“Neytiri, listen to her!” His hand gestured at you harshly and looked at her. “She’s over here complaining when we’ve got some important shit going on. You’re busy, I’m busy, Tsu’tey’s busy. We’re not playing games and braiding each other’s hair or playing teacher—”
“Oìsss, Tsyeyk! ( watch it! )” Tsu’tey’s scowl, not entirely as sharp as usual yet more so one of warning, was thrown towards Jake. “Neytiri, it is fine, please, enough — Y/N, yawne, rutxe tslam ( please understand ). This is very important — these duties, our path. You know this.” Tsu’tey was trying to maintain a leveled voice as he spoke to you, Neytiri’s eyes practically stabbing daggers into Jake’s back as he paced back and forth, hands clasped to the twines of his hair.
“For God’s sake, Tsu’tey, we gotta get in the air already. We gotta head back to the Tipani and give this to them, and Neytiri, you’re supposed to be coming with us — we don’t have time for this.”
Neytiri, even in the state of anger, tried to simmer it down as she noticed his state of frustration. She sighed and grabbed him by his forearms. “Ma Jake, you must calm down. Do not fuss. Do not speak this way. Tsu’tey, as much as he is right —”
A lift of Tsu’tey’s hand silenced them both, but then he turned and walked towards the two with a wordless gaze that spoke enough. He settled between them, his hands coming down to rest on their lower backs in order to pull them close. “My love, can we discuss this later?”
That was it. The smallest actions that opened your foolish eyes.
They were a team, those three. Neytiri, Tsu’tey, and Jake. The tsakarem — Palulukan Makto, Olo’eyktan, and Toruk Makto.
And in this moment, that team was rising against you.
The movement nearly caused you doubt, your brain wracking to think of a way you may be in the wrong. Yet vacant was the act of trying.
“One would think that this bond before Eywa was only between the three of you.” You helplessly uttered in Na’vi.
Hurt slashed Neytiri’s features when she looked at you, her lower lip quivering. “That is not true, tanhì. Y-you do not mean that.”
Tsu’tey’s head had dipped, his along with Neytiri’s ears pinning down. His lips so very slightly parted, but all he could feel was an overwhelming wave of sadness that choked him from speaking.
Jake’s already confused eyes were spinning between the three of you. “Hey, what’s she saying?”
Neytiri was either too hesitant to answer or too focused in trying to find a way to reassure you, to comfort you — maybe all of the above.
“She said that it seems it is only us three are bonded under Eywa.”
Tsu’tey’s voice was hollow but even, foreign but familiar after so long of not feeling this way. While he was trying to make an effort to be considerate with your feelings, hoping maybe Neytiri could try and bring some ease to you as she approached you, Jake Sully was not helping.
He instead laughed humorously, “Are you serious? You go just a few days, maybe even a week without attention and you’re out of it?”
“4 weeks and 16 days.”
“—What?” Jake questioned, and all eyes were on you.
“It has been 4 weeks,” you projected your voice clearly, “and 16 days.”
“That’s impossible, Y/N. Stop being—” Yet Jake’s words were silenced when you threw the crumpled calendar along with his ( the other two found them pointless — not necessarily keeping track of whatever months unless it had been for your birthday ). Black markings on his, red on yours — little words and notes you or him — even them had written ; promises that went by broken by the most important people of your life.
“About 4 weeks and 16 days ago was the day I started my duties as ‘playing teacher’ at Grace’s school. You two had missed the opening — Neytiri, however, did make it. You two could not even bother to attend to celebrate, even if it was for the tiniest minute. But, Neytiri, you left with them, and I returned at night to an empty home. I went to sleep alone, and have done so ever since.”
Neytiri’s fingers rose over her mouth, a soft exhale emitting from her while her other hand curled around your arm. Tsu’tey scanned the sheets, taking in exactly what every little note meant — hell, he had been there with you when you wrote most of these. He knew how much this meant for you, what he had vowed to you. “It has been this long …? Since we have shared sleep? Even a meal?”
Their questions went ignored. Your voice finally found you and you refused to let it go. “About 3 weeks ago, Jake, we were supposed to spend a bit of time together. You have been blowing me off ever since. You, ma Olo’eyktan, promised to bless the school house with your presence. You broke your promise, you failed to show up, and I spent 8 hours consoling some very upset children.”
Next came the jab of your finger over a specific date, one circled in your calendar in red, Jake’s even in red ; ‘Tanhì’s birthday!’, ‘Y/N’s birthday!’ Yet on his, other scribbles assisted — black ink tumbling over the red. “3 weeks ago,” Your voice hitched. “Well, this one here is self-explanatory.”
Tsu’tey’s eyes cracked from their hard demeanor, wide and glassy. Neytiri’s tears, however, already broke through the glass wall, streaming from her eyes. “How did we … Ma Y/N, I—”
Jake became truculent, brows furrowing and pushed past Tsu’tey. “Nah, that’s not right. We wouldn’t miss your birthday. We had it all hatched out, look! Today’s only…” His words failed as he checked, as if he did not believe the usage of your words. “Shit.”
“Shit indeed. So tell me again, Neytiri, how is it that I do not mean the words I said before.”
She did not speak at first, as her hand fell over to her stomach, fingers trembling, chin dipping down in shame of herself, of them, of her actions, disappointing you.
Tsu’tey’s face was one full of an apology he could not vocalize. He tried to brush it off, the shock choking him, trying to control the agitating movements his tail created.
But Jake made no effort in backing down, anger riling him up again. “Hang on, you have been sitting on this for 4 weeks and 16 days and now you wanna come in and hold it against us now?”
“Hold it against you? Jake, love, just admit your wrong doing! It was you — all three of you — who forgot you had another mate to care for, not I!”
“Then if you’re so damn forgotten, y/n, why don’t ya just leave?”
The impact of his words closed any passage of air for you, even Neytiri. “W-what?”
The act of speech found Neytiri’s tangled vocals, turning towards him, glaring venomously at him. “Jake, stop it—”
“No, nah, ‘Tiri. She’s the so-called forgotten mate, right?” He was talking to Neytiri, yet his eyes were fixated on you. “Apparently we haven’t shown her how much we care over these past few months. Nearly years. How much she meant to us — how it’s not enough.”
Tsu’tey did not snap nor did he have any ounce of courage to stop Jake — but his hold on Jake tightened. Hoping it would shut him up — hoping to find the strength to say something, anything. All he could do was watch in agonizing silence.
Readdressing you, Jake questioned bitterly, “it wasn’t enough, now was it, Y/N? Huh, babygirl? This, not one but three of us, wasn't enough for you. Then why haven’t you gone? Matter of fact, why don’t you disappear? What’s the word — ‘ìp ( vanish )?”
That snapped something inside of Tsu’tey, a surge of an acrimonious panic rising from him and he gently shoved Jake by his shoulders, a hand soon roughly pressing over the former marine’s chest. “Tìfnu ( silence ), Tsyeyk. You can understand that, no? Compose yourself right now before you say something you are going to regret.”
Jake paid no regard to Tsu’tey’s words, tears pouring down the three’s faces, as well as your own. “Go Y/N. Leave, baby. How ‘bout find some other mate who gives you more than either of us combined could, hell, find yourself more than one! An’ when do, let us know so we could wish them assholes luck!”
“Makto!” Tsu’tey fumed loudly, even Neytiri releasing her fair share of hissing before both their attention was on you. Their golden irises followed you as your hand reached to remove the necklaces decorating your neck.
Neytiri now rushed in front of you, her fingers wrapping trembling around your wrists in order to stop you from taking them off, tightening her hold on you. “Do not listen to him — ma tanhì. No, no, kehe (no). He did not mean it — does not mean it. Ftang ( stop ) Stay.”
You only shook your head and refused to meet her broken face. Shrugging from her touch, you took the first one — the one gifted by her — off anyway and placed them in the flat of Neytiri’s palm. She peered down at it, lips pushing down and looked back up at you with a tearful gaze.
She was about to speak — to try and find a different tactic as you reached to unclasp the other two. That was until Tsu’tey’s presence was felt behind, soon striding in front of her and enveloped your cheeks within his palms and dabbed your tears away. He knew what you were capable of, he knew your seriousness, your joy, your sadness, your breaking point. He should have known. But right now, he knew your capability of acting upon this. You took him in, the downward curve of his browline, the turmoil lodged in his sorrowed eyes. “Oeyä muntxate ( my wife ), oeru txoa livu ( I wish for forgiveness ) I am sorry. Rutxe ( please ), do not leave,” left in whispers from his lips.
When you remove the one he gave you, he now descended to his knees, pleadingly looking up at you. Neytiri could do nothing but cry and reach for your hand, beseeching. Jake had even stopped his pacing to glance at you with broadened eyes, the weight of his idiotic words finally coming down on him.
He watched as you removed the one given by him. He watched as you sniffled, as usual perched ears fluttered down while stroking Tsu’tey’s cheek and gently squeezing Neytiri’s hand before looking at him. And finally, he watched as you walked towards him with your head held up high, grabbed his hand to turn it over and let the soft cluttering sound of the necklace pooling into his palm be the sound assisting the soft cries of Neytiri fill the silence.
You turned around straight after doing so and went over to the other two. A soft, lingering kiss was met to the loving stripes of Neytiri’s forehead while she weakly whispered for you to not leave. You then looked down at Tsu’tey, still on his knees, still hopelessly trying to find a way to get you to not do this. Tilting his chin into one hand, the other still held on Neytiri’s, you brought his face to meet yours. With a small, sad curve of your lips and a swift peer to Jake, who was taking slow steps toward you three, your mouth opened to the three one final time before you retreated.
“Ma Olo’eyktan. Ma Neytiri. Toruk Makto. Eywa gnahu ( may Eywa be with you ).” Your head bowed, fingers hesitant to signal to them, to see them, then exited, leaving the leaders — your mates — in their despair.

Get to Know Your Character
Here are some questions to consider for character development:
What parts of their childhood trigger them?
How do they treat themselves when they're feeling sad?
What parts of themselves do they tend to hide?
How do they punish themselves when they make mistakes?
Who are they loyal to? Why?
Who do they avoid? Why?
What emotions or situations do they try to avoid? Why?
What angers them?
What are their insecurities?
What are their emotional triggers?
How do they feel about love?
What are their fears?
What is their relationship with their family like?
What kind of people do they tend to gravitate towards?
What do they like/dislike about themselves?
Happy writing ❤
