MoP,FwR Chapter 2: Weep Not At a Departure, For a Reunion is Sure to Follow — In which we witness Gwyndolin's reaction to Saewynn setting off for her pilgrimage in years long past, and also the anxieties of the Papermoon in the present. Both are worried to see the other, yet it falls upon one or the other to break that initial tension...

As it happened before, and as it would happen again, Dark Sun Gwyndolin was too weak to have anyone stay by their side.  They watched from the gate of Irithyll as she departed, given a sturdy Carthusian horse and all the supplies she would accept. She left as a hero; hailed as the Papermoon of Irithyll, Spellblade Saewynn. Her family (what remained of it at the time) were granted her final goodbye, which suited the Darkmoon just fine. (They did not listen to how she spoke with a nameless weight. They did not catch glimpses of her one good eye as she glanced over her twin’s shoulder at them resting on a bench. They did not hold Yorshka’s hand to hold back the desire to order her to remain. To order and hold against one’s will the way their father would act. Irithyll was a haven, and people could come and go as they pleased.) (No matter how much it hurt to let them fly.) They clutched the delicately folded moon closer to their chest when she turned around and gave a final salute to them. Not one of their Blades, but a solemn bow nonetheless. The Nameless Moon of Irithyll disappeared from public life for a time after that. When asked, they mentioned they had to actively care for their newly arrived sister. More than that, they were attempting to replicate the papercraft in the hopes that doing so would cause her to return. They kept themself as free as they could, hoping that a courier would deliver a letter to them from her. That letter never came, and she never returned. They filled four small lockboxes with their attempts. It was only on the final day of her Pilgrimage that they succeeded in their facsimile of her devotion. Yet she were not to come home.
