What if, through an odd turn of events in the season 3 finale, Adrien ended up being the guardian of the miraculous? Here is season four of Miraculous with that one change, retold to be something worth reading.
CHAPTER 00
Pilot Chapter
The loud thud of the senti-monster crashing it’s tail end into Master Fu’s shelter repeats at a constant rate, each bash sending a wave of anxiety over Ladybug and Chat Noir as he watches her desperately try to figure out what she could do with the Lucky Charm. How was something like a key ring supposed to stop Hawkmoth, Mayura, a senti-monster, and Queen Bee?
Hawkmoth's hollow laugh echoes through the practically empty streets of that corner of Paris, drawing the hero's attention to the rooftop that he’s perched on. “Nothing! There is nothing you can do! My plan was perfect, you’ve lost this time, Ladybug!”
Chat Noir glares up at Hawkmoth, drawing his staff, ready to simply hop up there and punch the old man himself. However, it’s Ladybug's soft whisper that stops him.
“I can’t figure it out, he’s right…” She laments, turning to Chat with sorrow and guilt in her eyes. The sound of the senti-monster bashing against the Shelter seems to get louder all of a sudden, causing Ladybug to bury her face in her hands, as though she were trying to drown out the sound or something. “I’m so useless! I forgot to detransform when I went to see Master Fu, if I hadn’t- if I’d just- stopped to think for once in my life- we wouldn’t be here right now- Hawkmoth wouldn’t have gotten ahold of the Miracle Box, Chloe wouldn’t have the Miraculous of the Bee-- this is all my fault!”
Chat Noir hates to see her upset like this. He turns his attention fully to her, gripping her shoulders in his hands to ensure she was listening. “Ladybug, no. You had no way of knowing this would have happened.” He reassures her, crouching down to try to be eye level to her, but she doesn’t pull her face out of her hands, only stands there shaking under hands.
“Ladybug, you are the best Miraculous holder I’ve ever met.” Master Fu’s voice is strong, as though he were standing beside them and not several stories above them behind a magical barrier, causing both heroes to look up towards him. The senti-monster hits the shield again, sounding even louder than before, Ladybug and Chat Noir both flinching at the sound. They could only see the back of Master Fu as Jade Turtle from where they stood, but they could both tell he was tiring from holding the Shelter up so long. “You’ve made a mistake but who hasn’t? What matters is to fix them.”
“But what if I don’t know how to fix this one, Master?” She calls up to him, her voice shaking.
Master Fu looks over his shoulder down at the duo, a soft smile on his face, but sorrow in his eyes. “You hold all the keys, Ladybug. You always have. And you will make a magnificent Guardian.”
“What?!” Chat Noir and Ladybug cry out in unison, both drawing their weapons on reflex.
“NO!” Hawkmoth calls out, turning from the edge of the roof to the Shelter, pointing his staff at it in a very theatrical way. “Break it, now!” He commands the senti-monster, who collides with the Shelter with so much force it shakes slightly, but doesn’t break.
Master Fu steps away from the edge of his Shelter, holding his arms up in a ceremonious way. As he speaks, a bright light begins to emanate from him, and from the Miracle Box in Queen Bee’s hands on the ground. “I, Wang Fu, hereby relinquish the title of Guardian of the Miracle Box, and name Ladyb-”
Everything that happened next all happened at once. Chat Noir doesn’t recall exactly what order it happened in, all he knows is that there were four major things going on at the same time.
1. The senti-monster had broken through the Shelter, the sound of the magical green shield shattering filled the air around them, followed immediately by the agonizing cry of Master Fu as the monster’s tail rams into his chest, knocking him off the roof.
2. The Miracle Box in Queen Bee’s hands has risen at least 30 feet above the ground, glowing brightly and seeming to be changing shape willy nilly.
3. Ladybug had yelled something over the noise, Chat isn’t sure what, and launched herself up to the roof, presumably to take care of Fu or Hawkmoth and Mayura.
4. Mayura is running under the senti-monster, sliding on the roof to reach out and grab Master Fu by his wrist, holding onto the Miraculous of the turtle and letting the old man detransform and fall to the ground.
Ladybug disappears over the edge of the roof, probably chasing after Hawkmoth and Mayura in a final attempt to capture them and the Miraculous. Chat didn’t stop to wonder, using his stick to propel himself up to catch the falling Master Fu, landing safely on the sidewalk, setting him down gently. Fu was unconscious, but look relatively unharmed.
Chat doesn’t have time to properly check on him, distracted by Queen Bee a dozen yards away, jumping up to try and reach the Miracle box that is still glowing unbelievably bright and changing form freely. He wasn’t sure why, but something came over him. A desperate need to get a hold of the box before Queen Bee. Chloe could not touch that box.
Queen Bee unhitched the yoyo from her waist, winding it up and using it to hook around the box, beginning to pull it out of the air and towards herself. Chat Noir uses his staff, extending it at an angle to launch himself through the air, grabbing the glowing box under one arm and crashing into the ground roughly a few yards from a livid looking Queen Bee. “What are you doing, you stray! Give that back! I’m the Queen! It’s my property!” She shrieks, winding her yoyo again and launching it at Chat, probably aiming to hurt him.
He simply side steps the yellow and black projectile, frowning at her. Chat Noir knew Chloe had problems with control and stubbornness, but this was borderline villainy. He feels anger rise as he watches his childhood best friend seethe with rage, a power hungry look devouring her as she runs at him, calling out her power, fist raised to strike. Chat Noir ducks away last second, sweeping his leg out under Queen Bee’s feet to trip her, turning swiftly and stepping on her back with enough force to keep her down without hurting her.
“Get off of me! Do you know who I am?! I can ruin you, you mangy feline!!” She shrieks, writhing under his weight as she tries to maneuver her fist with the Venom on it towards him.
Chat sighs, reaching down and plucking the Miraculous out of her hair, stepping off and looking down at Chloe, who turns to face him. His only friend as a kid, sitting on the dirty ground, tears of frustration brimming her eyes, staring at him with so much hatred he was surprised she could even carry that much. And she asked if he knew who she was? “Yeah, I know who you are. You’re Chloe Bourgeois, and you are a villain.”
The hurt in her eyes bothers him, but Chat doesn’t show it as he turns around. Chloe’s footsteps tell him she’d run off, but he doesn’t care. He’s looking at something else now.
Ladybug, crouching beside Fu, who is slowly sitting up, looking confused.
“Did you get Master Fu’s Miraculous back?” Chat asks, hurrying over to his partner and crouching down beside Master Fu to help him sit up as well.
Ladybug doesn’t reply for a second, looking shocked. She blinks, pointing towards what Chat held under his arm. The Box. When Chat looks down, he realizes what has happened.
The box, usually a wooden hexagon, was now a black chest, medium sized, with neon green details all over it, a golden latch similar to a bell keeping it shut, and two small drawers on the front side, one with a ladybug encryption and the other drawing with a cat paw encryption.
“What now?”
