Kim’s secret night smoke
It’s snowing outside. You hadn’t realised - not until you laid eyes on him.
You had yet another f*cked up dream, and managed to pull yourself out on your legs, put your very Sunday best on (since it’s really the only outfit you own) and exit your room at the Whirling, on to the balcony.
You just needed some fresh air. Or did you? It’s not even 5 a.m. yet. Maybe you were trying to cool down, to keep your mind from imagining what would happen if you knocked on his door in the middle of the night. What would you see inside? How would his things be? Tidy, you bet. What would he wear?
Well, that’s accounted for now. White underwear with pink hearts on it says hi. You cannot help but stare, and say hi back.
‘Who are you talking to, officer?’
To them. The little hearts of course. They’re begging for attention.
This man has no ass. None, whatsoever.
Yet, all you can think - and what you eventually say out loud - is:
‘Give me that bony ass of yours.’

So recently I posted about Kim and Harry hook up while he’s on the bender AU? Last night me and @excalibutt got a little inspired and co-wrote a scene set in that AU. Pre-Tribunal but some time after Day 3 or 4.
—————
WHIRLING-IN-RAGS BALCONY: Apparently, the lieutenant has taken you out here before you both retire for bed to tell you something important. KIM KITSURAGI: He laces his fingers and presses hands onto the top of the balcony. He’s struggling mightily with himself.
COMPOSURE: His sense of propriety with…
ESPRIT DE CORPS: … his sense of duty. Guess which one wins.
KIM KITSURAGI: “You’ve been working on one of those mind projects, haven’t you? I think I can save you the time. In fact—I am obliged to. Yes, we did have… relations, the night before you lost your memory. I am so sorry I didn’t know how to tell you.”
DRAMA: The truth.
CONCEPTUALIZATION: Extracted from his mouth like pulling teeth.
EMPATHY: He’s really sorry. It’s rare for him to be the Sorry Cop.
ELECTROCHEMISTRY: You got in his pants and can’t even remember it!?
COMPOSURE: Don’t think about that. This is…
CONCEPTUALIZATION: This could be very bad.
INLAND EMPIRE: This feels bad.
RHETORIC: It’s probably bad.
SUGGESTION: It’s bad.
EMPATHY: Really bad.
VOLITION: Everyone be quiet. This is bad.
ELECTROCHEMISTRY: Ask him how it was! Do it right now!
New task: Ask Kim how it was

Prompt
Growing up, the MC was a huge fan of a popular middle grade book series. They looked up to the heroes of the series and dreamed of being just like them when they grew up. Unfortunately, as time went on, the MC largely abandoned the principles that the books taught them and grew up to be a greedy and selfish person. One day, the MC wakes up as one of the characters in the world of the book series. To their shock, they are not the hero, but the villain of the story. As the plot moves forward and the hero gets closer to defeating them, the MC must figure out how to get back to their own world, and relearn the lessons that the series taught them as a kid.

Writing Prompt #1979
"Have you ever wanted to be king?" The prince asked the knight, his closest friend after all these years. "I do have one way I can make that happen."
The knight paused, trying to make sure he wasn't misinterpreting what he had heard. "Was that...was that a proposal, or just an inquiry?"

fantasy writing prompt #2
a witch kidnaps princesses and locks them in towers, the only thing that nobody knows is that this is a favor that the princesses themselves ask for the witch to give. the price? the heart of the knight that comes to save them. one day, although her efforts, a princess loses her knight, he ends up running away. the witch, enraged, starts hunting down him, what she didn't expect was to found the same knight that went to save her when she herself was a princess locked in a tower.
suggestions of opening lines
One would be surprised if saw the ambition of a princess that wants freedom.
Princesses knew nothing about cooking or cleaning, but they were masters at stealing hearts, sometimes in the literal sense.
All the good fairytales start with an evil witch, a princess in danger and a brave knight; this one starts with a witch worried about her finances, a brave princess and a knight in danger.
Princesses and witches composed a secret society dedicated to delivering favors here and there; it was a surprise to know that nobody hadn't discovered it yet.
Sometimes, the witch thought of taking a vacation and letting all of those princesses deal with the family discussion about freedom and independence alone.
The princess gave to the witch a bloody heart, her hands trembled and the poor knight lay down dead on the tower's floor.
No princess was the same after the Heart Day.
Most princesses started thinking that the witch ate the hearts that was given to her; they were always surprised to discover that it was just the lunch of Izadora, the witch's dragon pet.

Problems of immortals
Being thousands of years old and you're falling out of touch with your native language but it's either entirely unknown or there's only the writing system left so there's no one to practice with so you have to live with the knowledge that you're slowly forgetting who you were when your loved ones were alive.
Or (because my mum said there's always experts which gave me an idea) there's one person who knows enough to have full conversations with because they did their PhD on your civilisation but you absolutely detest them and reluctantly invite them to live with you and it becomes a slow-burn, enemies-to-lovers thing

Ways to find a plot when you have characters and a setting
… but only characters and a setting.
You have a world. A universe. A setting. Good! Describe what happens in it normally - describe your main character(s)’s daily life. Now, what would destabilize this routine completely? If many things could, write them all down. Pick your favourite idea(s). Plots are born from change: everything was going normally… until it wasn’t.
Make a list with all the goals/motivations of your main characters. Can the plot revolve around your characters going after these goals?
Which goals are more important? Focus on those.
Are different characters’ goals in conflict with each other? Conflict is usually what propels a story forward.
What could go wrong in your character’s pursuit of their goal? Make it go wrong.
If you don’t know your characters’ goals, go back to the drawing board; they probably need more development.
If there’s not enough conflict of different motivations, make a new character who creates conflict!
How do you want your main character to have changed by the end of the story? Do you want them to be less selfish? To have come to terms with a part of themself? To have learned something new? Write down ideas that could accomplish this change.
If you can’t think of any way your character could be changed (read: improved) by the end of the story, go back to the drawing board. They might be “too perfect.
Notes:
The change that triggers your plot can be anything. It doesn’t have to be the start of an epic war that will bring forth the apocalypse, it can be your character meeting a new person who shakes things up in their life, or anything you want!
Motivations can be anything. It doesn’t have to be something grand - if your character’s motivation is to just live a quiet life, you can still come up with a plot that will get in the way of that goal!
Character development can be anything, as well - you don’t need a cliché moral to the story; your character doesn’t even need to change in a good way, if that’s not what you want for your story!
This is what I’ve found works for me, but if you try it and it doesn’t, or if it sounds way too sententious and strict for you - that’s okay! Take it with a grain of salt! Maybe you think your characters are just fine and don’t need more developing even in the situations in which I recommended you “go back to the drawing board”, or maybe you have better ways of coming up with a plot. That’s fine, the writing process can be very personal!
