Terfs can show up, espouse the exact specific views that the word “terf” was coined after, recommend a bunch of historic terfs’ works about why trans women are infiltrating the womanhood, and then get called “trans allies” because they said we deserve somewhere to piss.

It’s crazy how normalised transmisogyny is that all you need to do is see somebody say something vaguely positive about trans women once or twice to wipe away their decades-long history of praising, sharing & upholding terfs’ works & defending the exclusion of trans women from feminist events (hmmm, I wonder if there’s a word for that?). people really are just allergic to considering us full humans worth listening to.

as a person who lost a loved one to addiction, i would rather have them be able to use safely in a sterile environment with safe equipment, where they can 100% know the drug is not laced with something deadly, and live- than them dying because they didn’t know what the drug contained, or because no one was there to make sure they weren’t ODing, or because they used dirty equipment in a dirty environment.

again more simply put, i would rather have my dead loved one continue using drugs in a safe manner and stay alive, than die the way they did because the stigma around substance use is not only dangerous, but lethal.

harm reduction saves lives.

i wanna go ahead and talk about this post real fast because I saw it, and I'm inclined to agree that parents should be teaching their child to be respectful of other people's spaces in public.

however i find many problems with this post, the biggest being that when you are in public, and someone is not making a direct threat to your safety and wellbeing or interacting with you directly, whatever someone is doing, however annoying or uncomfortable they may be to you, is not their fucking problem. i know you may be thinking, "but misophonia is a disability and the noise is a threat to their wellbeing," and i'm sorry, because i know you have their best interest in mind, but that does not make this an appropriate response to this situation. i'm sympathetic to those with misophonia! i have it, it came free with my autism, but this doesn't really excuse the actions as much as it explains them. here's why!

something important to consider when it comes to the public space is the fact that you are not the main character of the public space. you may find that you have a low tolerance for annoyance or discomfort for various reasons, but at the end of the day, that is absolutely YOUR problem. YOU need to find a way to help yourself circumvent this.

this kind of logic in the post is backhanded to the parent in question about the child's safety and regressive to the politics of who we allow to exist publicly and how they exist in the same public spaces as you or me.

the supposed anonymity of the noise-maker tries to paint the aggressor in a sympathetic light, but to be honest, it makes the situation worse no matter how you look at it. because by that logic, you could be yelling at someone with tourette syndrome, autism, any other disability that causes tics. someone could be doing that for comfort reasons, maybe that person is on drugs, maybe they're in the middle of a psychotic episode, or, in this case, maybe it's a child. and, maybe it is very possible that the person who is making the noise is just doing it to be annoying. it might feel really good to see people like street influencers getting their shit rocked for being little assholes, but this vindication is reactionary at its core and has led to the incarceration and abuse of minorities.

laws have been formed around "keeping the peace" in public spaces for decades and these laws very often target minority demographics and allow for the harassment, abuse and killing of these minorities simply on the basis of making people "uncomfortable." think loitering laws or "gay panic" laws. it happens to the homeless, to black, indigenous and other people of color, it happens to trans and LGBT+ people, disabled and mad people, and it gets them killed and/or jailed.

its pretty clear that the individual who made this post has a vitriol towards children and this influenced the feelings around it, but again, this really isn't the take people might think it is and this is some of the kind of shit where discrimination flourishes.
