igneel's death is genuinely the most brutal thing that fairy tail has ever done. like. you give a character a goal from the beginning of the series; you make it the only thing he wants for 200+ episodes straight, and that thing he wants is. just to see his father again. and then he gets what he wants! for the blink of an eye, because he immediately loses it, in the most devastating and violent way possible. the worst part is that, one way or the other, natsu was always gonna lose igneel. he was lost to him before the series even started.
