Star Trek episodes - The Cage
The point is that this isn’t the only life available. There’s a whole galaxy of things to choose from.

This part of TOS “The Ultimate Computer” drives me absolutely crazy.
First, Commodore Wesley insists Jim let the M-5 completely run the Enterprise for testing and then calls Kirk “Captain Dunsel.”
THEN, as bloody soon as the M-5 starts attacking the four war game starships and causing horrible damage and death, Wesley somehow totally forgets he himself demanded M-5 be put in control of the Enterprise, and ACCUSES KIRK of attacking them.
WESLEY: Full phasers. What the devil is Kirk doing?… WESLEY [on viewscreen]: Enterprise. Jim. Have you gone mad? What are you trying to prove? Break off the attack! Jim, we have fifty three dead here, twelve on the Excalibur. If you can hear us, stop the attack!
Wesley is a complete A** in this. What in the universe would make Wesley ASSUME Kirk had suddenly lost his mind, taken control from the M-5, and started attacking his fellow starfleet ships and crews……rather than KNOWING the M-5, which he ordered to be in control, was the thing that had gone berserk and was attacking?

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, a spin-off with Anson Mount, Ethan Peck and Rebecca Romijn reprising their Star Trek: Discovery roles as Captain Pike, Spock and Number One, is coming to CBS All Access as reported from official sources on May 15 2020.
The series will follow the trio “in the decade before Captain Kirk boarded the U.S.S. Enterprise, as they explore new worlds around the galaxy.”
Alex Kurtzman: “When we said we heard the fans’ outpouring of love for Pike, Number One and Spock when they boarded Star Trek: Discovery last season, we meant it. These iconic characters have a deep history in Star Trek canon, yet so much of their stories have yet to be told. With Akiva [Goldsman] and Henry [Alonso Myers] at the helm, the Enterprise, its crew, and its fans are in for an extraordinary journey to new frontiers in the Star Trek universe.“
The title and timeline suggest the series could be episodic, rather than serialized. The series premiere was written by Akiva Goldsman with the story by Akiva Goldsman, Alex Kurtzman, and Jenny Lumet. There’s no premiere date yet set.
