My running theory of why Megapolis is such a “Take-Over-The-World-Here” spot is because it’s either cursed or there is some sort of god with a really big reverse hit list. A reverse hit list meaning that they’re the one on a shit ton of peoples hit lists. Leaning more towards the cursed theory though, just sounds more realistic to me honestly

hey have you seen that shadow play i've been seeing flyers for?
I actually just went to see it! It felt a bit like venting tbh not that that’s a bad thing it’s great to express yourself though art. That guy is seriously talented with shadow puppets though, he’s definitely using magic but it’s still crazy impressive. Some of it gave me 🌈 vibes so I think it would be a great show to see for pride month!
9/10 stars would see again

Hyacinthoides non-scripta (common bluebell)
When I was a kid growing up in England, bluebells were a common sight. At this time of year any vacant field or railway embankment would be festooned with thousands of them. Although nearly all bluebells are blue, rare mutations produce pink and white bluebells and these are now sold in garden shops too. We have all three colors growing in our garden although an English gardener probably wouldn’t do the same. Bluebells do have a habit of spreading around the flower beds.
Britain is now having a big problem with the Spanish bluebell, Hyacinthoides hispanica. It’s easy to tell the difference: Spanish bluebells have blue anthers and common bluebells have cream colored anthers. When Spanish bluebells were introduced into English gardens decades ago, they started to hybridize with the native bluebells, producing the highly invasive Hyacinthoides × massartiana. This hybrid has now become the dominant form in Britain and Belgium and the traditional bluebell, Hyacinthoides non-scripta, is now considered a threatened species.
Getting back to our area of the world, I frequently see bluebells growing in drainage ditches and vacant building sites, so they’ve become a local wildflower in Vancouver too. I remember we planted ours in a single bed and now they’ve shown up in all our flower beds, and under the hedge, and behind the shed… I have a feeling that bluebells are in Vancouver to stay. Incidentally, I checked the ones growing in our garden and they all have white anthers so they’re (probably) Hyacinthoides non-scripta.

Azalea (Exbury hybrid, var. “Gibraltar”)
First Bloom
When I was a rookie gardener, I thought I knew the difference between an azalea and a rhododendron. Rhodos had big leaves that they kept all year round and azaleas dropped their small leaves in the fall. To some extent that’s true but at that time rhodos and azaleas were considered two separate genera and now their both classified as Rhododendron. Azaleas are native to Europe, Asia and North America and human ingenuity has created over 10,000 different varieties. “Gibraltar” is a deciduous azalea cultivar, first introduced in 1947.
The title of this post. ‘First Bloom’, captures a moment in time and a sunny, spring morning in our back yard. Now isn’t this is what the joy of gardening is all about? Strolling around sipping that first cup of coffee and checking out this beautiful, first bloom. Hey wait a minute, where’s my camera?

Here I am, doing the one thing I said I wouldn't do.
Me thinking about it doesn't count as doing it.
