"I didn't comment on a fic I liked because I don't think the author would care or remember my comment anyway". fanfic writer here, I still remember comments I got on my fics from seven years ago. I still think about them and they still make me smile. your kind comments are what motivates us and what helps us keep writing.

I personally know writers who take screenshot and print out comments they got from their readers.

TL;DR comments matter to us writers more than you think. if you like a fanfic, never be shy to let the author know ♡

im so sorry 😭😭😭 work and responsibilities have me dead at the moment so even when i've had time to write i've been so exhausted that i just can't make it happen.

chapter three is currently 900 words long (so likely 1/3 of the way done) and because i feel really bad about how long it's taking there's a snippet below the cut

“Are you cramped back there, Em?” Garcia turned to look over her with a wide smirk, like the awkwardness of earlier had been all but forgotten. Samira was more caught on the nickname. She thought calling her anything other than Walsh might end up with the surgeon exploding someone by sheer power of thought, but she simply rolled her eyes at Garcia. More surprisingly, she held her tongue. “Just because your car could double as a tactical weapon doesn’t mean it’s always better suited for the job. But if you’re really uncomfortable, you could sit up front with Trinity.”

THE PITT — 01.13 - "7:00 P.M." (2025)

i like pathetic yearning men so i’m thinking hard about whatever season of the pitt frank being emotionally punched in the face with his feelings for mel because he spent the last 2+ years living in the delusion that he only sees mel as a friend, a good friend, his best friend

the scheduling gods were punishing frank because there was this 3 week period where they barely shared the same shift. when they do line up he’s excited, obviously the two of them spent those three weeks together metaphorically glued at the hip whenever they both had free time, but it’s not the same as working with mel, spending a whole shift with her maybe not always next to him but certainly easy for him to catch a glimpse of as they focus on their respective patients

anyways, he walks into a day shift ready to go—and then, he spots mel and this new resident who started a few weeks ago. the guy is following mel around like a god damn puppy dog, all starry eyed. the guy even touches mel (lightly, like on the shoulder or arm but mel doesn’t flinch away or anything). so yeah, he’s kind of in a raw mood although he does focus that energy into doing his job

it’s not until he goes to find mel for a lunch break that santos tells him that mel and the new guy are at the caf together. at this point, santos and langdon are not best buddies but they do have their weird as hell dynamic where they are rude to each other but ultimately it’s all in good fun. so yup, santos, who had to spend this whole time watching frank and mel dance around each other plays it up. tells him that mel was all blushy and giggly. tells him that apparently the guy worked in the VA with mel so they have a lot of catching up to do. because she’s also a menace she sort of lets it slip that the guy and mel used to date (the VA part was the truth, the parts santos failed to mention was that mel was all smiley because of langdon, and that while she’s comfortable around the guy, she has zero feelings for him, and she even ended up turning him down way back then).

i just think it’ll be neat to watch langdon sweat a little. let him have to deal with watching mel joke and laugh and work on cases with someone else.
