They say beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder but I think my beauty was tired of lying and has finally gathered the courage to stand up to body shamers and bullies.

Every once in a while he likes to come alive and share with the world his precious music or at least I should hope so.
So many songs about love, not nearly enough about running away to the woods to lie next to an old willow to let the roots slowly grow over you until you're the tree yourself.

Also I talked about this on my other blogs but it bears repeating.
Dreamcatchers are not witchy. They’re not magical. Their only spiritual meaning is that they were taught to us by an Ojibwe mythological figure to protect our children when they’re out of her reach. They’re essentially glorified and blessed baby mobiles.

Did you know that modern C sections were invented by African women— centuries before they were standard elsewhere?
Midwives and surgeons living around Lake Tanganyika and Lake Victoria perfected the procedure hundreds of years ago. When a baby couldn’t be delivered vaginally, these healers sedated the laboring mother using large amounts of banana wine. They tied the mother to the bed for safety, sterilized a knife using heat, and made the incision, acting quickly as a team to prevent excessive blood loss or the accidental cutting of other organs. The combination of sterile, sharp equipment and sedation made the procedure surprisingly calm and comfortable for the mother.
After the baby was delivered, antiseptic tinctures and salves were used to clean the area and stitches were applied. Women rarely developed infections, shock, or excessive blood loss after a cesarean section and the most common problem reported was that it took longer for the mother’s milk to come in (an issue that was solved with friends and relatives who would nurse the baby instead).
In Uganda, C sections were normally performed by a team of male healers, but in Tanzania and DRC, they were typically done by female midwives.
The majority of women and babies survived this, and when questioned about it by European colonists in the mid-1800s, many people in Uganda and Tanzania indicated that the procedure had been performed routinely since time immemorial.
This was at a time when Europeans had only barely started to figure out that they should wash their hands before performing surgery, when nearly half of European and US women died in childbirth, and when nearly 100% of European women died if a C section was performed.
Detailed explanations of Ugandan C-sections were published globally in scholarly journals by the 1880s and helped the rest of the world learn how to save mothers and babies with minimal complications.
So if you’re one of the people who wouldn’t be alive today without a C-section, you have Ugandan surgeons and Tanzanian and Congolese midwives to thank for their contributions to medical science.

I’m still shook, even now at 5am on a Thursday, over what I witnessed a few days ago in the Barnes & Noble Starbucks. Absolutely shook.
Two grown-ass men, obviously friends but dressed like they were in two different high school cliques, were arguing, passionately about who Gerard Way was. The one wearing a Green Lantern shirt and thick-rimmed hipster glasses said that Gerard Way is the lead singer of My Chemical Romance. The other guy was wearing what I wore during my emo phase in middle school, mostly black with a skinny red tie and a grey vest, was arguing that Gerard Way was a comic book writer.
Then a third person comes up, obviously another friend as she put down a tray of drinks for the three of them, looking like she could’ve been a Kappa Nu with Elle Woods, and asks “What dumb thing are you two arguing about now?”
The two men reply. Elle Woods’ sorority sister says “They’re the same damn person, you idiots. He does both things.”
Absolutely shook. I feel like I witnessed the utopia suggested by the end of High School Musical where everyone from all the different cliques are friends and Wildcats or some shit…

The Tragedy that is Jon Snow
I’m an avid TV Shows fan. As the younger girl among two older siblings, I’ve been watching TV shows since I was five years old and I fell in love with Buffy the vampire Slayer. I turn 26 this year, and in all this time watching shows, I’ve never seen a character being more unjustly destroyed as Jon Snow.
Tumblr media
Jon starts the show as a secondary character, the bastard son of an honorable lord who chooses to isolate himself in the Night’s Watch in order to stop being the personification of his father’s mistake, never threated equally among his other siblings. As the seasons move on we see a change in Jon, we see him embrace who he was, we see him become the honorable man Ned Stark always wanted him to be, we see him chose honor over love in more than one occasion and ultimately, we see him getting stabbed by his brothers because of his compassionate nature.
Tumblr media
From my point of view Jon started going downhill in season 7 after he became another King who lost the North, but still his character was somehow redeemable. However what was done to him this season is the worst crime I’ve ever seen in TV.
Tumblr media
Maybe it was the writers’ lack of creativity or their laziness or perhaps their complete ignorance of what was supposed to be one of the most important characters of the show. In six episodes they managed to reduce him to a spineless man who did nothing but follow around his lover proclaiming her his queen, they denied him the fulfillment of his arc when he was deprived of the fight against the Night King, they made him overlook genocide and try to justify it with pitiless excuses and worst of all they used the “Love is the death of duty” when every single time before, Jon had chosen duty over love because that is the kind of man he was.
Tumblr media
So what? There was no character development for him? Like Jamie, his arc got lost somewhere along the way because D&D were too stupid to understand his character. He ended up as a joke, a pariah, disowned by everyone without any justification? Because, that was the worst part, everything that happened this season regarding his character (and many other things) didn’t make a lick of sense.
Tumblr media
The fact that he was a Targaryen and that we spend the entire show trying to figure out if the R+L theory was right didn’t serve any propose, it was only there to create conflict and somehow justify Dany going all maniac. In the end, Jon could have remained a bastard forever and it wouldn’t have made a difference!
Tumblr media
Yesterday’s episode was a shit storm, every minute of it was filled with bad writing and character destruction and for me, the worst of all was the obliteration of Jon Snow, a character that could have been epic but who ended up a mess, all because D&D can’t wait to start with Star Wars.
