Introducing My Hetalia Nyo!Philippines OC: Maria Clara De La Cruz

Yes, I know this is a common name for PH OC's but I headcanon that this isn't her real name. Her real name, given to her by Mama Spain, was revoked when she started to revolt against Spain's colonialism. Maria Clara named herself after the character from Noli Me Tangere because she was a huge fan of Dr. Jose Rizal's work. She looked up to the writings that inspired her to write and tell her own story. More info on her is in my OC headcanons post hehe.

Also I know this drawing stinks but please know I'm a beginner artist and am still learning huhu.

Nyo!AmePhil Fluff HCs

Maria sings to Amelia ALL the time. Amelia finds her voice to be the most beautiful and calming thing ever. Maria sings when brushing Ame's hair, when they're in the car together, and even hums soft melodies when she does small things like tie her shoes. Amelia loves this about her.

HARANA!! Phili definitely went outside Ame's doorstep, guitar in hand and serenaded her (im a creep, im a weirdo)

Since Phili is shorter than Amelia, there's a lot of headpats and resting her chin on Phili's head (even if she has to tiptoe to do that last one)

Amelia cannot handle spice while Maria can dump a cup of tabasco on food and feel nothing (exaggeration). This spice tolerance gap leads to very interesting and goofy moments where Ame's face starts burning after eating Maria's sisig, Bicol Express, or any food that's a little spicy

Amelia has a loud laugh that most people will think is annoying, but Maria seems to be the only one who can tolerate it

They both listen to musicals together (i have OdyPen but its Nyo!AmePhil brainrot)

I HC that Amelia does boxing as a hobby and Maria is always there to watch matches, though she gets really worried about Amelia being in pain after sparring. She's very gentle with nursing Ame after she gets hurt.

I also HC that Maria plays volleyball and gets smacked in the face every now and then. Unlike Maria, Amelia freaks the hell out and causes a scene when she's felt the slightest bit of pain (AAAAA WHAT DID YOU DO TO MY BBG type shit lol)

Amelia can doodle and Maria can write. They want to make smol picture books together :3

There's not exactly a "better one" when it comes to video games. Amelia is great at Valorant, Apex Legends, CS;GO while Maria is better at Leauge of Legends, Overwatch, Fortnite. They're kinda balanced in skill at fighting games so the winner normally depends on the circumstance when they play

Nyo!AmePhil Headcanons

Hi so Philippines' personality is mostly based off my OC (notes found here) and for the sake of simplicity I'll refer to them as Ame and Phili

I went over their history dynamics over in my PH rant so let me summarize by saying that Ame and Phili were childhood friends who wrote to each other while they were still colonies

Ame promised Phili that one day they will both be free together

Now we skip to when Ame made this whole elaborate lie to cover up the whole Treaty of Paris thing and made it look like she single handedly freed Phili herself

Of course Phili was glad that her best friend kept her promise! Now she can be independent and happy

Obviously that didn't happened because Ame stabbed Phili in the back and the imperialism thing happened

Phili being pissed at the lie and betrayal tried to fight her way out of it but failed. Even though Ame said the rule was temporary it still pissed her off.

I like to think that Phili burned all the letters between them (NOT A HAMILTON REFERENCE) as a sign of her trust in Ame disappearing.

She'd snub Ame's advances and attempts to "win her back"

And then Japan invaded in WWII and Ame promised that "She shall return" to Phili

And Phili put up a good fight but was no match for Japan. She hated not being strong enough and secretly dreamt of Ame fulfilling her promise to free her.

Eventually Ame did come back and shooed away the Japanese forces.

I like to think that this is where Phili first caught feelings for Ame but just repressed it

Anyways Ame asked if Phili wanted to still be a colony of hers or be free and Phili (tired of not being independent) chose freedom. Even if it meant she and Ame won't be that close anymore.

So here's where I headcanon that they kiss each other goodbye LMAO and Phili hopes that Ame will keep in touch

Ame did in fact NOT keep in touch

Ame was so busy with the cold war and race to space stuff that it seemed like she neglected Phili and that upset Phili again

So she buried whatever romantic feelings she had for Ame, and moved on with her life

But Ame never forgot about Phili. She lived rent free in her mind. But the sad thing is that she was too caught up with her being a growing nation that she wasn't able to be as close as she wanted to be.

The first time they saw each other was in ASEAN's first world meeting and Phili still held a grudge while repressing her feelings

Ame tried to catch up and get her crush friend to talk to her again but she was given the cold shoulder

So yeah happy ending? We'll see where this goes, I'll just and make content for them eventually but I adore the idea of them not being in good terms and learning to fall in love with each other again slowly

EDIT: I FORGOT that my angst headcanon is that since philippines is normally liked by her peers and america is disliked for being (yk america), there's this sort of envy that clashes with the on/off crush thing that makes this yuri complicated~

NOBODY ASKED but im gonna vomit all my thoughts about my OC nyo!philippines okay LETS GOOOOO

Okay to start things off let me just say that I will draw her (after my NA bros doodle) but my first headcanon is that she has long hair that she rebonds (like straightens?? idk if thats the correct term) her hair every now and then because she's naturally wavy. Not sure which bangs I like for yet but its probably gonna be side bangs for miss girl. I like imagining her hair to be a bit darker, nearing black, with brown skin, and shes also short.

Forgot to say that my OC's name is Maria Clara (MC) de la Cruz because that was the name I gave her when I was 9 years old and I'm sticking with it. I know that in 2016 that was everyone's name for her but idc its cute.

You already know that she's a good singer (boss asks that she performs during events sometimes while people eat) but what if I also HC that Maria's a great writer as well. Inspired by the works of Dr Jose Rizal, she tried to get her story told to the world in the late 1800s but was shunned because 1) she's a woman 2) she's a minority 3) she was colonized by Spain. She got into major trouble with Spain for attempting to publish her works. In her freetime, she writes poems and songs

She plays the ukelele and acoustic guitar

Okay hear me out but I like writing my lesbians with spice so lets just say that she and nyo!America have the worst on again of again cycle ever

The nyo!amephil post is coming right after this so I'll stick to writing about MC's feelings in this post

Maria HATED Amelia with a passion. She was so pissed when Amelia lied to her face and promised to save her. Amelia and Maria met when they were kids, when their mommas brought them both to a diplomatic meeting (Spain and England? Didn't end well) and they bonded over the will to be free. Amelia promised to free Maria someday.

Eventually American Revolution bla bla bla, and then Amelia made a big show of having to free the Philippines from the Spanish rule, including staging a big fake battle and everything (Battle of Manila 1898) and Maria thought that someone who she considered to be a good friend kept her promise

Also btw when MC was still colonized by Spain, she wrote letters to Amelia, some of conversation but mostly her writings and drabble and stuff

And man MC was pissed when she found out that Amelia was going to colonized her. Betrayed and hurt, she could barely believe when Amelia tried to calm her down saying it was temporary. Maria didn't care. She was LIED TO.

Even when Japan invaded and Amelia had to retreat that promise that she would return to help, Maria was still hurt and betrayed that she barely believed it

Sakura (pretty sure thats her name) was a lot more cruel to the Philippines than Spain and Amelia ever were. So strict to the point that Maria got banned from singing just because it was her outlet for her emotions.

She was so tortured and hurt in those years that she couldn't help but dream of Amelia coming to save her, but that was ridiculous. Amelia was a liar wasn't she?

Apparently not because not even a decade under Japanese rule, the Philippines was assisted in revolting and getting freed from Japan by America once again

Admittedly, Maria was happy but a part of her loathes the fact that she couldn't do it by herself. She wanted to be capable of her own independence.

Amelia saw this and although it meant they were no longer going to be united, she told Maria that she could be let go

A part of this made Maria feel upset because she couldn't fight and earn her freedom but she's also glad that the fighting was over if that makes sense?? Centuries without independence is tough so being handed it for free seemed like a dream

Well, Amelia did ask if Maria wanted to still be a colony of hers (so they could stay together forever) but Maria declined because she wanted to be free herself

Anyways boring history dynamics over, I think that Maria is someone who wants to prove herself with her talent and capabilities but is also constantly looked down upon by others

She's social, kind (see: that one time Filipinos welcomed Vietnamese refugees) and stunning but always feels like she has to prove herself

She cares about her public appearance a lot because being liked by the ASEAN, her cousins in LatAm, and by other nations because of her voice means a lot to her because centuries of being a colony made her feel worthless

I was around 15 when I posted my first TonTon fic on AO3. Now I'm turning 20 in a couple months.

I wrote this as sort of a way to express my emotions. I am not at all caught up with how TonTon functions right now, like if they're still essentially the same characters or not (i know there's an annoying amount of new lore added) so this is definitely OOC.
