Fourth Sunday in Lent: Saturday: Evening Prayer: Second Lesson: 1 Peter 4:12-19
12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:      13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings;      that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.      14 If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the      spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.      15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters.      16 Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.      17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?      18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?      19 Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

Fourth Sunday in Lent: Saturday: Evening Prayer: First Lesson: Jeremiah 17:5-14
5 Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.      6 For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited.      7 Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.      8 For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.      9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?      10 I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.      11 As the partridge sitteth on eggs, and hatcheth them not; so he that getteth riches, and not by right, shall leave them in the midst of his days, and at his end shall be a fool.      12 A glorious high throne from the beginning is the place of our sanctuary.      13 O LORD, the hope of Israel, all that forsake thee shall be ashamed, and they that depart from me shall be written in the earth, because they have forsaken the LORD, the fountain of living waters.      14 Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise.

Fourth Sunday in Lent: Saturday: Evening Prayer: Psalm 118
O GIVE thanks unto the LORD, for he is gracious; * because his mercy endureth for ever.        2 Let Israel now confess that he is gracious, * and that his mercy endureth for ever.        3 Let the house of Aaron now confess, * that his mercy endureth for ever.        4 Yea, let them now that fear the LORD confess, * that        his mercy endureth for ever.        5 I called upon the LORD in trouble; * and the LORD heard me at large.        6 The LORD is on my side; * I will not fear what man doeth unto me.        7 The LORD taketh my part with them that help me; * therefore shall I see my desire upon mine enemies.        8 It is better to trust in the LORD, * than to put any confidence in man.        9 It is better to trust in the LORD, * than to put any confidence in princes.        10 All nations compassed me round about; * but in the Name of the LORD will I destroy them.        11 They kept me in on every side, they kept me in, I say, on every side; * but in the Name of the LORD will I destroy them.        12 They came about me like bees, and are extinct even as the fire among the thorns; * for in the Name of the LORD I will destroy them.        13 Thou hast thrust sore at me, that I might fall; * but the LORD was my help.        14 The LORD is my strength, and my song; * and is become my salvation.        15 The voice of joy and health is in the dwellings of the righteous; * the right hand of the LORD bringeth mighty things to pass.        16 The right hand of the LORD hath the preeminence; * the right hand of the LORD bringeth mighty things to pass.        17 I shall not die, but live, * and declare the works of the LORD.        18 The LORD hath chastened and corrected me; * but he hath not given me over unto death.        19 Open me the gates of righteousness, * that I may go into them, and give thanks unto the LORD.        20 This is the gate of the LORD, * the righteous shall enter into it.        21 I will thank thee; for thou hast heard me, * and art become my salvation.        22 The same stone which the builders refused, * is become the head-stone in the corner.        23 This is the LORD’S doing, * and it is marvellous in our eyes.        24 This is the day which the LORD hath made; * we will rejoice and be glad in it.        25 Help me now, O LORD: * O LORD, send us now prosperity.        26 Blessed be he that cometh in the Name of the LORD: * we have wished you good luck, we that are of the house of the LORD.        27 God is the LORD, who hath showed us light: * bind  the sacrifice with cords, yea, even unto the horns of the altar.        28 Thou art my God, and I will thank thee; * thou art my God, and I will praise thee.        29 O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is gracious, * and his mercy endureth for ever.

Fourth Sunday in Lent: Saturday: Morning Prayer: Second Lesson: 1 Corinthians 15:1-11
1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached      unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;      2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached      unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.      3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;      4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:      5 And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve:      6 After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.      7 After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles.      8 And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.      9 For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.      10 But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.      11 Therefore whether it were I or they, so we preach, and so ye believed.

Fourth Sunday in Lent: Saturday: Morning Prayer: First Lesson: Exodus 2:1-22
1 And there went a man of the house of Levi, and took to wife a daughter of Levi.      2 And the woman conceived, and bare a son: and when she saw him that he was a goodly child, she hid him three months.      3 And when she could not longer hide him, she took for him an ark of bulrushes, and daubed it with slime and with pitch, and put the child therein; and she laid it in the flags by the river's brink.      4 And his sister stood afar off, to wit what would be done to him.      5 And the daughter of Pharaoh came down to wash herself at the river; and her maidens walked along by the river's side; and when she saw the ark among the flags, she sent her maid to fetch it.      6 And when she had opened it, she saw the child: and, behold, the babe wept. And she had compassion on him, and said, This is one of the Hebrews' children.      7 Then said his sister to Pharaoh's daughter, Shall I go and call to thee a nurse of the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for thee?      8 And Pharaoh's daughter said to her, Go. And the maid went and called the child's mother.      9 And Pharaoh's daughter said unto her, Take this child away, and nurse it for me, and I will give thee thy wages. And the woman took the child, and nursed it.      10 And the child grew, and she brought him unto Pharaoh's daughter, and he became her son. And she called his name Moses: and she said, Because I drew him out of the water.      11 And it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown, that he went out unto his brethren, and looked on their burdens: and he spied an Egyptian smiting an Hebrew, one of his brethren.      12 And he looked this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no man, he slew the Egyptian, and hid him in the sand.      13 And when he went out the second day, behold, two men of the      Hebrews strove together: and he said to him that did the wrong, Wherefore smitest thou thy fellow?      14 And he said, Who made thee a prince and a judge over us? intendest      thou to kill me, as thou killedst the Egyptian? And Moses feared, and said, Surely this thing is known.      15 Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to slay Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh, and dwelt in the land of Midian: and he sat down by a well.      16 Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters: and they came and drew water, and filled the troughs to water their father's flock.      17 And the shepherds came and drove them away: but Moses stood up and helped them, and watered their flock.      18 And when they came to Reuel their father, he said, How is it that ye are come so soon today?      19 And they said, An Egyptian delivered us out of the hand of the shepherds, and also drew water enough for us, and watered the flock.      20 And he said unto his daughters, And where is he? why is it that ye have left the man? call him, that he may eat bread.      21 And Moses was content to dwell with the man: and he gave Moses      Zipporah his daughter.      22 And she bare him a son, and he called his name Gershom: for he said, I have been a stranger in a strange land.

Fourth Sunday in Lent: Saturday: Morning Prayer: Second Psalm: Psalm 112
BLESSED is the man that feareth the LORD; * he hath great delight in his commandments.            2 His seed shall be mighty upon earth; * the generation of the faithful shall be blessed.            3 Riches and plenteousness shall be in his house; *  and his righteousness endureth for ever.            4 Unto the godly there ariseth up light in the darkness; * he is merciful, loving, and righteous.            5 A good man is merciful, and lendeth; * and will guide his words with discretion.            6 For he shall never be moved: * and the righteous shall be had in everlasting remembrance.            7 He will not be afraid of any evil tidings; * for his heart standeth fast, and believeth in the LORD.            8 His heart is stablished, and will not shrink, * until he see his desire upon his enemies.            9 He hath dispersed abroad, and given to the poor, * and his righteousness remaineth for ever; his horn shall be exalted with honour.            10 The ungodly shall see it, and it shall grieve him; * he shall gnash with his teeth, and consume away; the desire of the ungodly shall perish.

O GOD, my heart is ready, my heart is ready; * I will sing, and give praise with the best member that I have.       2 Awake, thou lute and harp; * I myself will awake right early.       3 I will give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the peoples; * I will sing praises unto thee among the nations.       4 For thy mercy is greater than the heavens, * and thy truth reacheth unto the clouds.       5 Set up thyself, O God, above the heavens, * and thy glory above all the earth;       6 That thy beloved may be delivered: * let thy right hand save them, and hear thou me.

Fourth Sunday in Lent: Friday: Evening Prayer: Second Lesson: St. Mark 13:14-23
14 But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains:      15 And let him that is on the housetop not go down into the house, neither enter therein, to take any thing out of his house:      16 And let him that is in the field not turn back again for to take up his garment.      17 But woe to them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!      18 And pray ye that your flight be not in the winter.      19 For in those days shall be affliction, such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God created unto this time, neither shall be.      20 And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect's sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days.      21 And then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ; or, lo, he is there; believe him not:      22 For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall show signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.      23 But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things.

Fourth Sunday in Lent: Friday: Evening Prayer: First Lesson: Jeremiah 16:5-13
5 For thus saith the LORD, Enter not into the house of mourning, neither go to lament nor bemoan them: for I have taken away my peace from this people, saith the LORD, even lovingkindness and mercies.      6 Both the great and the small shall die in this land: they shall  not be buried, neither shall men lament for them, nor cut themselves, nor make themselves bald for them:      7 Neither shall men tear themselves for them in mourning, to comfort them for the dead; neither shall men give them the cup of consolation to drink for their father or for their mother.      8 Thou shalt not also go into the house of feasting, to sit with them to eat and to drink.      9 For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will cause to cease out of this place in your eyes, and in your days, the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride.      10 And it shall come to pass, when thou shalt show this people all these      words, and they shall say unto thee, Wherefore hath the LORD pronounced all this great evil against us? or what is our iniquity? or what is our sin that we have committed against the LORD our God?      11 Then shalt thou say unto them, Because your fathers have forsaken      me, saith the LORD, and have walked after other gods, and have served them, and have worshipped them, and have forsaken me, and have not kept my law;      12 And ye have done worse than your fathers; for, behold, ye walk every one after the imagination of his evil heart, that they may not hearken unto me:      13 Therefore will I cast you out of this land into a land that  ye know not, neither ye nor your fathers; and there shall ye serve other gods day and night; where I will not show you favour.

Fourth Sunday in Lent: Friday: Evening Prayer: Psalm 107
O GIVE thanks unto the LORD, for he is gracious, * and his mercy endureth for ever.            2 Let them give thanks whom the LORD hath redeemed, * and delivered from the hand of the enemy;            3 And gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from the west; * from the north, and from the south.            4 They went astray in the wilderness out of the way, * and found no city to dwell in.            5 Hungry and thirsty, * their soul fainted in them.            6 So they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, * and he delivered them from their distress.            7 He led them forth by the right way, * that they might go to the city where they dwelt.            8 O that men would therefore praise the LORD for his goodness; * and declare the wonders that he doeth for the children of men!            9 For he satisfieth the empty soul, * and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.              10 Such as sit in darkness, and in the shadow of death, * being fast bound in misery and iron;            11 Because they rebelled against the words of the Lord, * and lightly regarded the counsel of the Most Highest;            12 He also brought down their heart through heaviness: * they fell down, and there was none to help them.            13 So when they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, * he delivered them out of their distress.            14 For he brought them out of darkness, and out of the shadow of death, * and brake their bonds in sunder.            15 O that men would therefore praise the LORD for his goodness; * and declare the wonders that he doeth for the children of men!            16 For he hath broken the gates of brass, * and smitten the bars of iron in sunder.              17 Foolish men are plagued for their offence, * and because of their wickedness.            18 Their soul abhorred all manner of meat, * and they were even hard at death's door.            19 So when they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, * he delivered them out of their distress.            20 He sent his word, and healed them; * and they were saved from their destruction.            21 O that men would therefore praise the LORD for his goodness; * and declare the wonders that he doeth for the children of men !            22 That they would offer unto him the sacrifice of thanksgiving, * and tell out his works with gladness!            23 They that go down to the sea in ships, * and occupy their business in great waters;          24 These men see the works of the LORD, * and his wonders in the deep.          25 For at his word the stormy wind ariseth, * which  lifteth up the waves thereof.            26 They are carried up to the heaven, and down again to the deep; * their soul melteth away because of the trouble.            27 They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, * and are at        their wit's1 end.            28 So when they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, * he delivereth them out of their distress.            29 For he maketh the storm to cease, * so that the waves thereof are still.            30 Then are they glad, because they are at rest; * and so he bringeth them unto the haven where they would be.            31 O that men would therefore praise the LORD for his goodness; * and declare the wonders that he doeth for the children of men!            32 That they would exalt him also in the congregation of the people, * and praise him in the seat of the elders!           33  He turneth the floods into a wilderness, * and drieth up the water-springs.            34 A fruitful land maketh he barren, * for the wickedness of them that dwell therein.            35 Again, he maketh the wilderness a standing water, * and water-springs of a dry ground.            36 And there he setteth the hungry, * that they may build them a city to dwell in;            37 That they may sow their land, and plant vineyards, * to yield them fruits of increase.            38 He blesseth them, so that they multiply exceedingly; * and suffereth not their cattle to decrease.            39 And again, when they are minished and brought low * through oppression, through any plague or trouble;            40 Though he suffer them to be evil entreated through tyrants, * and let them wander out of the way in the wilderness;            41 Yet helpeth he the poor out of misery, * and maketh him households like a flock of sheep.            42 The righteous will consider this, and rejoice; * and the mouth of all wickedness shall be stopped.            43 Whoso is wise, will ponder these things; * and they shall understand the loving-kindness of the LORD.

Fourth Sunday in Lent: Friday: Morning Prayer: Second Lesson: 1 Corinthians 14:26-40
26 How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.      27 If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret.      28 But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God.      29 Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.      30 If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace.      31 For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.      32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.      33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.      34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.      35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.      36 What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only?      37 If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.      38 But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant.      39 Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.      40 Let all things be done decently and in order.

Fourth Sunday in Lent: Friday: Morning Prayer: First Lesson: Exodus 1:8-14, 22
8 Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph.      9 And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we:      10 Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land.      11 Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses.      12 But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew.      And they were grieved because of the children of Israel.      13 And the Egyptians made the children of Israel to serve with rigour:      14 And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage, in mortar, and in brick, and in all manner of service in the field: all their service, wherein they made them serve, was with rigour.      22 And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, Every son that is born ye shall cast into the river, and every daughter ye shall save alive.

Fourth Sunday in Lent: Friday: Morning Prayer: Second Psalm: Psalm 102
HEAR my prayer, O LORD, * and let my crying come unto thee.            2 Hide not thy face from me in the time of my trouble; * incline thine ear unto me when I call; O hear me, and that right soon.            3 For my days are consumed away like smoke, * and my bones are burnt up as it were a firebrand.            4 My heart is smitten down, and withered like grass; * so that I forget to eat my bread.            5 For the voice of my groaning, * my bones will scarce cleave to my flesh.            6 I am become like a pelican in the wilderness, * and like an owl that is in the desert.            7 I have watched, and am even as it were a sparrow, * that sitteth alone upon the housetop.            8 Mine enemies revile me all the day long; * and they that are mad upon me are sworn together against me.            9 For I have eaten ashes as it were bread, * and mingled my drink with weeping;            10 And that, because of thine indignation and wrath; * for thou hast taken me up, and cast me down.            11 My days are gone like a shadow, * and I am withered like grass.            12 But thou, O LORD, shalt endure for ever, * and thy remembrance throughout all generations.            13 Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Sion; * for it is time that thou have mercy upon her, yea, the time is come.            14 And why? thy servants think upon her stones, * and it pitieth them to see her in the dust.            15 The nations shall fear thy Name, O LORD; * and all the kings of the earth thy majesty;          16 When the LORD shall build up Sion, * and when his glory shall appear;          17 When he turneth him unto the prayer of the poor destitute, * and despiseth not their desire.          18 This shall be written for those that come after, * and the people which shall be born shall praise the LORD.          19 For he hath looked down from his sanctuary; * out of the heaven did the LORD behold the earth;               20 That he might hear the mournings of such as are in captivity, * and deliver them that are appointed unto death;          21 That they may declare the Name of the LORD in Sion, * and his worship at Jerusalem;         22 When the peoples are gathered together, * and the kingdoms also, to serve the LORD.        23 He brought down my strength in my journey, * and shortened my days.            24 But I said, O my God, take me not away in the midst of mine age; * as for thy years, they endure throughout all generations.            25 Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth, * and the heavens are the work of thy hands.            26 They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: * they all shall wax old as doth a garment;            27 And as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed; * but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail.                    28 The children of thy servants shall continue, * and their seed shall stand fast in thy sight.

Fourth Sunday in Lent: Friday: Morning Prayer: First Psalm: Psalm 95
O COME, let us sing unto the LORD; * let us heartily rejoice in the strength of our salvation.     2 Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving; * and show ourselves glad in him with psalms.     3 For the LORD is a great God; * and a great King aboveall gods.     4 In his hand are all the corners of the earth; * and the strength of the hills is his also.     5 The sea is his, and he made it; * and his hands prepared the dry land.     6 O come, let us worship and fall down, * and kneel before the LORD our Maker.     7 For he is the Lord our God; * and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand.     8 To-day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts * as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness;     9 When your fathers tempted me, * proved me, and saw my works.     10 Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, * It is a people that do err in their hearts, for they have not known my ways:     11 Unto whom I sware in my wrath, * that they should not enter into my rest.

Fourth Sunday in Lent: Thursday: Evening Prayer: Second Lesson: St. Mark 13:1-13
1 And as he went out of the temple, one of his disciples saith unto him, Master, see what manner of stones and what buildings are here!      2 And Jesus answering said unto him, Seest thou these great buildings?      there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.      3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives over against the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him privately,      4 Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign when all these things shall be fulfilled?      5 And Jesus answering them began to say, Take heed lest any man      deceive you:      6 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.      7 And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not      troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end shall notbe yet.      8 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows.      9 But take heed to yourselves: for they shall deliver you up to councils; and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten: and ye shall be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them.      10 And the gospel must first be published among all nations.      11 But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost.      12 Now the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the son; and children shall rise up against their parents, and shall cause them to be put to death.      13 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

I have neither lent on usury, nor men have lent to me on usury; yet every one of them doth curse me.      11 The LORD said, Verily it shall be well with thy remnant; verily I will cause the enemy to entreat thee well in the time of evil and in the time of affliction.      12 Shall iron break the northern iron and the steel?      13 Thy substance and thy treasures will I give to the spoil without price, and that for all thy sins, even in all thy borders.      14 And I will make thee to pass with thine enemies into a land which thou knowest not: for a fire is kindled in mine anger, which shall burn upon you.      15 O LORD, thou knowest: remember me, and visit me, and revenge me of my persecutors; take me not away in thy longsuffering: know that for thy sake I have suffered rebuke.      16 Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called      by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.      17 I sat not in the assembly of the mockers, nor rejoiced; I sat alone because of thy hand: for thou hast filled me with indignation.      18 Why is my pain perpetual, and my wound incurable, which refuseth to be healed? wilt thou be altogether unto me as a liar, and as waters that fail?      19 Therefore thus saith the LORD, If thou return, then will I bring thee again,  and thou shalt stand before me: and if thou take forth the precious from the vile, thou shalt be as my mouth: let them return unto thee; but return not thou unto them.      20 And I will make thee unto this people a fenced brasen wall: and they shall fight against thee, but they shall not prevail against thee: for I am with thee to save thee and to deliver thee, saith the LORD.      21 And I will deliver thee out of the hand of the wicked, and I will redeem thee out of the hand of the terrible.

Fourth Sunday in Lent: Thursday: Evening Prayer: Second Psalm: Psalm 100
O BE joyful in the LORD, all ye lands: * serve the LORD with gladness, and come before his presence with a song.              2 Be ye sure that the LORD he is God; it is he that  hath made us, and not we ourselves; * we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.              3 O go your way into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise; * be thankful unto him, and speak good of his Name.              4 For the LORD is gracious, his mercy is everlasting; * and his truth endureth from generation to generation.
