posting just to say i think some people on the internet truly have no media literacy based on some of the takes im seeing about the severance finale like...
#'how could mark choose some girl over his own wife' YOURE MISSING THE POINTTT HAVE YOU WATCHED THE SHOW#like that is not his wife that is mark scout's wife! he is his own person!!!#it is not and never has been about helly or gemma this decision from mark was about his own life or his outie's life#he was choosing to scrape and fight for the last bit of whatever life he has left and because he is mark s not mark scout he wants to spend#that with helly instead of willingly walking into his own permanent nonexistence#he knows that he's never coming back if he walks out this door. why would he willingly die? for his outie?#his outie that made clear he doesn't have any respect for him as his own individual? no!!#this ending was not about mark and helly vs mark and gemma. it was about innie mark vs outie mark. it was about innies reclaiming their life#and the insistence that this is helena at the end also feels like a fundamental misunderstanding of both helly and#the meaning behind this moment.#this is not helly being cruel. this is not her being a pick me and happy that mark is abandoning his wife.#this is core to everything that helly stands for because this moment is about the innies choosing to fight for their lives#rather than just sacrificing themselves at the alter of their outies#ofc helly wants to scrape for the last chance of life with innie mark that she can! she's believes they are their own people with a right to#decide their lives.#and ofc this SUCKS for gemma like omg my poor girl. wtf#she has no idea the context so i just feel SO fucking bad for her. and her reunion with outie mark is#probably the most beautiful romantic moment i've ever seen hooooly shit#but ultimately this ending is incredible because it is the culmination of innie mark's development into caring about his own life#and choosing to put himself first even if it's only for ten more minutes of life.#i needed to get this off my chest
