dear hunter is like, the music is more grandious and dramatic than the story feels like. like act 2 being my favorite is basically just 'my mom got murdered, i fell in love with a girl, turned out she was a sex worker, then i was upset :(' which is pretty paltry for the mythological allusions and 1 hr 17 min runtime. moulin rouge ass shit

coheed ends up taking you off guard with how batshit the story is since the music is a lot of catchy bops. will compare with good apollo since its also misogyny the album. the meta layer of ryder being the writer of the amory wars and talking to claudio as the god of his universe and forcing amberlina's death is pretty fucking wacky but on the surface most of the songs are kind of just bitter breakup/relationship songs.

i think volta has a good balance with the lyrics/how the music sounds and the underlying narrative with deloused and frances. it sells the dramatics and the surrealism very well
