Beach House Chapter 2

Summary: This chapter follows the group's beach day, where Y/N starts to question her feelings for Jake. After feeling ill from the heat, she returns to the house and bonds with Jake over their shared love of books. The group decides to attend a party hosted by a former classmate, and Y/N agrees to go despite not being a fan of parties.

“It’s alright guys, I’ll just go, Jay can you tell me the directions?”

“Wait, let me join too” Jake spoke rushing to get his shoes back on.

“Oh, alright” you struggle to speak. Sometimes you thought he was too kind for his own good.

You walked over to the door after Jay told you the route where you met with Jake. He open the door in that same chilly breeze hit your face only thing time, much colder. Both of you walk down the stairs for the street lamp sliding up the roads you tried to repeat in your head that this was normal, and nothing would happen between you and Jake. (And well you’re sort of right)

But god the walk to the store was awkward though it was only five minutes it felt like an hour, the silence left loud noise of both of your footsteps present. The light of the convenient store was irritating to you. All you want to do is get out and go back. It was more awkward when you made eye contact with Jake to the isles when she got back outside the silence came back, so it was kind of enjoyable with the sound of the waves coming from afar.

“ Y/n..Your hands are shaking..” He noticed that when you hadn’t. Does it get that cold at night?” you thought.

“Here, put your hands in my pocket”, his words made your face heat up. He motioned for you to put your hands in his hoodie. When you did, your hands began to brush against each other, he was warm.

Hands touching each other, but not holding each other.

You felt the tension in each other grow and, well, of course you didn’t know to respond. You didn’t know whether to shy away or to hold his hand. But to pass up this chance would’ve been a big mistake. Jake reached for your hand in his hoodie pocket, and it felt as if your face got warmer, holding your breath from how fast your heart was beating, not even noticing you were nearing the house here.

“Let’s go up the stairs”, he offered to hold their bags for the second time that day, both of your steps and sync while walking up the front porch.

A quiet “thanks Jake” left you before both stepped in.

As you walked in you could hear a formation of “of they’re back” or “god it took you long enough” from the group.

Jake had set the bag on the table letting them see what they got of course it was the usual ramyeon packs along with different drinks and candy. Ordering meal online was on option after all.

Some time eating and seeing whats on tv when by before you all realized it nearing 1 AM. You all collectively decided take turns using 5 bathrooms that were in room and soon you me Eunchae in the bed room the both of your chose.

You sighed as your head hit the mattress. Finally some rest. Your face met with Eunchae as both of you were on separate beds dualing each other.

“I have something to ask you y/n” she got up off her pillow.

“Yea whats up”

“So like, what did you guys do when you were going to the store?”

Why ask so suddenly? “We just got our food and left”, very straight forward but that was a lie of course.

“Really? Because I totally see you having a thing for Jake.”

“HEY” You threw your spare pillow in her direction and horribly missed.

“So you’re sure nothing happened?”

“Hmmm” Leading you to think about the warmth you missed for holding (not) his hand.

“See! Do you like him or not?” She was leaning off her bed in curiosity.

“Well I don’t know, we haven’t much time to decide that” You scoffed, “Plus when summer end we have to be off for college…it will be useless”

“Wow well… you should should just try to have a little fun y’know” she said in a little disbelief.

“Okaaaay Eunchae good night” you reached for the lamp on the night stand.

“Good night~ n/n”

Both of you tucked in ready to shift off to bed.

You felt the morning sun warm up your face as you wake up. Meet with the blinding light from outside the window and yet those ways you felt so close with. You let yourself take a minute to fully wake up and as you did you reached for the closest bathroom you could. Only to be meet with a familiar blonde haired face.

Both of you coincidentally opening the door at the same time. In hopes of rushing to find his shirt, instead he found yourself almost bumping into his chest with a terrified look on your face.

“Ah- I apologize-” you keep your head down in hopes of not seeming like a perv.

“It’s alright, I was just heading out” You took in his lean figure, not knowing you were going to see more of it later today because, the whole group were going to the beach.

You hadn’t prepared yourself for an outgoing summer so had just packed the bathing suit you didn’t use last year. And of course you had to be the only one with the most basic and whack bathing suit ever. Embarrassment smacked you in the face harder than it ever would.

You’ve never been to the beach much other than on family trips so, you let your mom shop for you.

“Well I think this one looks cute” She helped you into the outfit that one time she had bought you a bathing suit. Yunjin leaned on the door way laughing frantically as she saw you in that one piece with polka dots on them.

Thank god that was two years ago.

This time though it hadn’t changed much, just a plain black one piece. But who cared, how bad can a beach day be.

You had set your belonging on the best spot you could.

“Giver the sunscreen to Sunghoon first, he needs it the most” you all snickered at jays joke as Sunghoon forcefully tried to throw sand on him.

Your main goal was to have as much fun as you could, and while also trying not to get distracted by the raging heat on the beach. So of course you relaxed your feet in the water, ran and chased kazuha around in the waves as well. And enjoyed playing beach ball with the rest of them.

Both teams on a tight tie 6-6, but that didnt even matter anymore. Sure the fun lasted all day long but the heat was startting to get to you now. Your vision was getting blurry, along with you taking many water breaks. Maybe all this running aroung wasnt meant for you.

"Hey y/n you good?" heeseung commented, seeing how badly you stumbled while walking. Jake stoping trying to catch the ball too after noticing.

"Its...its the heat. I think I need to go back".

"Alright, will you be okay on your own?"

"Yea"

And so you were off.

Luckily the house was only a block away from the beach since since you can see the view of the ocean through it. The feeling of the cold air conditioning in your room felt like heaven. The only downside was that you were covered in sand, to the shower it was. You took that tim to engulf yourself in the relaxing water that wasnt salty. It also gave you time to think. Did you really have a crush on jake? All these mixed feelings have you beyond confused. Was this really supposed to happen on this trip?

You took time to dry yourself and put on a new set of pj’s, finally getting to time unwind. As you took the route to the room you shared with eunchae you noticed one of the bedroom doors open, glancing in you saw familiar books you had read in the past year which happen to be your favorite series. ‘How did this end up here?’ You entered the room to take a better look. Sitting on the floor and skimming through them.

And to much surprise..

“You read those too?” Spoke a blonde hair boy thought he door frame startling you for a second time today.

“Oh, I didn’t notice you guys were back”

“No, it’s just me. I wanted to make sure you were okay…and yea those are mine” he said while laughing a little.

“I didn’t know you liked books, specifically this series” He sat along side you to continue talking still with his towel around his neck.

“Yea I started reading this a couple of weeks ago and I got invested so I bought the rest” he replied

“Wow” still surprised that the popular boy likes reading.

And just like that you guys talked for what seemed like hours. Turns out Jake has a lot of things in common with you. Somehow this conversation about books turned into a whole introduction about each other and all of your interest from movies, food, studies, and artists.

“Ha..You’ve read all these romance novels, I’m pretty sure you have had a relationship that was similar to one”. You sight. Both you and him laying on your backs staring at the ceiling.

“Not really, most of these stories are unrealistic and I haven’t been in a relationship in a while that felt real yknow?” He sat up to look at you.

“Really? You’re were so popular with people at our school”.

“Being popular never felt natural to me, maybe for Heeseung and jay but not me. But of course I still love my friends”. The conversation being interrupted by the sound of the front door opening.

“Looks like they’re back, we should go” And so both of you got up and met them down stairs.

“Woohoo! We brought back pizza” Yunjin kicked the door open whilst both hands being occupied with pizza boxes.

They set their stuff down and you notice Eunchae and Chaewon giving each other looks when they saw you and Jake by the stairs. Not even caring enough, you join them all in enjoying the pizza.

“Hey guys, who all remembers yeonjun right?” Heeseung spoke while only paying attention to his phone. The group all collectively let out yea (except you of course 😭)

“Turns out he lives near by and he’s hosting a party for all the graduates and old seniors”.

“Are we in on going?” Jay announced. You contemplated your answer while everyone else agreed.

Parties weren’t your thing, though you wouldn’t really even know that because you haven’t been to one. So of course you would give it a shot.

“Wow n/n too” Yunjin spoke, faced stuffed with pizza.

“I’ll see how it goes” finally confirming it.

Beach House (Jake/reader)

Summer hit fast, and you hated it. You hated every aspect of it. The odor of sweat, sunburns, etc. but soon you were being sent off to college, which I didn’t mind at with all those weeks of cramming for finals. However, your sister Yunjin was completely opposite; though she got average grades, she was a party girl. You had made mutual with her friend group (Eunchae, Sakura, Kazuha and Chaewon). But not so close to the boys they had usually hung out with. (Heeseung, Jay, Jake and Sunghoon) you would see them usually in our house hanging with Yunjin or at school they knew you were a big introvert, they didn’t bother you much though it was nice having a casual conversation with them at times. 

This summer heat hit you too fast for your liking. It felt as if you were going to die of a heat stroke. The stench after sweating so much annoyed you a lot, and so by nature you sat in your room all day with the air conditioning on. 

Yunjin came in offering to take you on a beach trip where you could be staying in a beach house for about 2 weeks. On top of that, it was with her friend group who you were barley familiar with. 

“Come on just go and have fun before college, you never go out” she groaned as she laid back on the chair that had been set near your desk.

You knew it was going to be hotter then ever in that place but at the time she was right. It’d be a little fun to do something other than to stay in your room. Saying cool all day in that cramped space would just make the summer even more boring. You always were skeptical of things as of first but as you thought of it, you thought of Yunjins friend group, and a certain person who caught your eye. 

Sim jaeyun.

They mostly call him Jake and his smile was most contagious. You never had thought of falling for anybody in high school let alone one of your older sisters friend. You had spotted him in your house a couple of times with the rest of the group though you stayed to yourself you caught on to a couple of things. He was the most energetic out of all of them and you soon found out you shared the same music taste. 

During your 2nd year in high school while you were sitting at your dinner table you overheard the group talking about something leading them to laugh. You looked back to see Jake laughing as well and felt your face warm up at the sight. Of cause that feeling of butterflys you hadn’t felt since 1st grade reappeared and your mind tried to deny it. Not even noticing that you had been smiling too along with Jake glaring at with with an equally lit up face. You turned away in embarrassment and continued to eat your pizza.

Or even your 3rd year when they dropped Yunjin off while she was wasted. Jake came to your door step hold Yunjin as he tried to set her inside. Jake had come up to you to give you her bag. 

“I know your younger than us but take care of her ok?”  You knew he lightly smiled though you couldn’t see that well. 

“Alright..goodbye” you spoke with hesitancy.

“Night y/n” he waved and closed the door behind him to get back to Jays car. 

Now. You packed as much as you could as it was going to be a 2 week trip. Mostly prioritizing sunscreen thou you weren’t going to be out much. Yunjin had planned to leave with you at sunset.

“Come on hop in” she said leaning on her car. She laughed a little at you struggling to walk down the steps if you house with the big bag you were carrying. It didn’t take long for you to throw it in the trunk along with her stuff as well. You laid on your elbow as you leaned on the car door. Memories by the sunset and the colors of the sky whilst listening to your favorite band ad you began to fall asleep while lookin at the sky you felt a pit in your stomach as you worried about what would come next from this trip. 

Let’s just try to make the best of it. Not even realizing you had fallen asleep until you woke up to Chaewon knocking on the car window waving it had been close to nightfall and at the sight where you spotted Heeseung and jay opening the door to the Bach house which made your eyes widen. How the hell did they afford this place? You thought as you were now fully awake. You opened the car door greeting Eunchae and Kazuha as you got your bags from the trunk. 

“Hey y/n” You turned from the car to se Jake standing there with the same hoodie you saw him wear a few times, guessing it was his favorite. Along with a pair of one of those corny tropical shorts you would see at a beach stand. It made you smile a bit. 

“Hi Jake” you took in his presence as you hadn’t seen him since school ended.

“Want me to hold you bag?” He offered a hand to you. Though you were going to decline, Sunghoon jumped in to rest his arm on jakes shoulders with another equally heavy bag. 

“Can you hold my bag too bro?” Letting out a chuckle you walked up to the porch and joined the rest of them inside. The house was spacious and well furnished considering all 10 of you were gonna be in it for 2 weeks.

“How the hell were you guys even able to get this place” you walked around trying to find a spot  to place your bags.

“Jays parents funded the booking for it” sakura replied already looking like she had settled in.

Of course you thought to yourself. Jay was known as that one super rich kid who had a reputation for having fun parties because of the large pool in his backyard. Though he was a popular kid, he was humble. He was also thoughtful when it came to supporting his friends. That was one of the things you liked about him.

Yunjin came in as if she was about to give some type of speech. “Alright kids. No parents but still try to have some decorum. Don’t get too drunk alright?”

“You’re the last one to be talking about decorum” said from sunghoon while yunjin flips him off in response.

“She’s right though, anyways lets go get our rooms” chanson stating letting out a sigh along with it. Eunchae then whispered to you “Hey, ditch yunjin for a while, lets get a room together”.

You ran to go pick up your bags, scouting out a room with two beds for you and Eunchae. Obviously the one with the best view of the beach. It was quite convenient for you and Eunchae to be sharing a room sense of course you two were the youngest ones. Along with that, you both had grown quite close over the past year. During year 9 she was the first to find out you and yunjin had been related. Eunchae of course had to step out of her own shell before you two started talking. She was not as introverted as you though it took her some time to get familiar with everyone. 

You took a moment to take in the view as the sun had finally set as night had risen. With the sky now purple and the sight of the waves crashing against the rocks, you felt a cold breeze hit. Something you missed. While you enjoyed your peace, you were interrupted by groans coming from downstairs. Concerned, you went back down to see annoyed faces and disappointed looks from everyone.

“Did I miss something…?” You looked around.

“Ugh we forgot to pack food and everyone’s hungry” kazuha spoke slouching deeper into the couch. 

“There is a connivence store near by, Ive stayed here before with my parents” jay replied. 

“Who wants to go??”…Silence.

“Lets settle this with rock paper scissors” of course heeseung said this. The group all knew he always won at this game. After some time you all agreed, forming a circle with your hands out.

“Sunghoon you have to play too” yunjin spoke, side eyeing him in annoyance.

“Im not going anywhere” not budging from his place on the couch. 

You all shook your hands with a quick “rock, paper, scissors” for 3 rounds. Everyone shouting hectically to see who won and who was eliminated and of course heeseung and chaewon won every round suspiciously. But god how did this happen.

You and Jake had been the last ones standing.
