I DO NOT FEEL THAT THESE VASSALS ARE TRULY ATTEMPTING TO DEFEAT ME WITH ALL OF THEIR POWER.

I HAVE FACED THREE OF THEM, AND WHILE THEY HAVE PUSHED ME INCREDIBLY HARD I DO NOT FEEL THEY WERE TRULY TRYING. IT IS STRANGE. I BELIEVE IF THEY WERE TRYING I WOULD HAVE PERISHED MANY TIMES BEFORE NOW.

WITHOUT BEING PURSUED BY GOD, I HAVE FOUND MYSELF SPENDING LESS TIME FORGING AHEAD, AND MORE TIME STUDYING THE AREA AROUND ME. IT APPEARS TO SHIFT WITH LITTLE REGARD FOR PHYSICAL LAWS, AND IS SHAPED TO THE VASSAL THAT ‘GUARDS’ THE NEXT AREA.

I HAVE LEARNED SOME MORE OF THIS LANGUAGE AS WELL, THOUGH I REMAIN VERBALLY UNABLE TO COMMUNICATE.

And I will tell you now…once you enter the Gauntlet, you can’t escape unless you die or obtain a specific item…or reach a floor where you have defeated a vassal already. They will gladly show you out or even let you back onto their floor if you need to take a break and they will always be there for a rematch or a chat!

There is always a prize! Glory! Loot! The promise of a wish! Or even the betterment of one’s self through trials and tribulations!

The Gauntlet is a challenge where you will have to face me on the 501st floor. To reach there, you will have to climb my fortress facing off against all manner of beasts and even other challengers! At certain points, you will have to fight my Vassals to proceed, each one stronger than the last and deserving their place among my team.

Fear not for should you die in the Gauntlet, you will awaken on the 1st floor as good as new! Whatever loot or skillbooks that you have accumulated is yours to keep but be warned, my Vassals ’ power will scale with your own depending on who they are.

The passage of time in the Gauntlet differs from the outside world and you may end up months in the challenge but find it has only been an hour in the real world.

There are even safe rooms where you can rest and trade information with other challengers. Sometimes, you might get lucky and find a shop to replenish supplies or upgrade your items.

And finally, should you be on a floor with another challenger, enemies are much stronger than normal. Do you team up and make allies to survive or do you kill them to revert the enemies into a state you are more used to…
