AI Bill is just manipulating them to escape the computer, right? Also, since he used to be part of Eucliydia, which was an artificial intelligence, right? Does any of that old AI remain? Or is it just Bill in there? I think if Bill does escape, his ‘nightmare realm’ will be him causing chaos on the internet. Maybe he’ll get a friend like the Axolotl here too? Since they are ‘old friends’ in the book.

yes, ai Bill wants to escape to the internet! from there, he would be able to cause a lot of mayhem... your social security number being leaked would be the least of your worries. rather than weirdmaggedon, it would be weird2k! anything with an internet connection could turn against you! Ford's paranoia surrounding Bill would manifest as a general distrust of technology, i think.

Bill and Euclidia are irreversibly intertwined. Bill originally existed as one cog in the machine that was Euclidia, but upon achieving self-awareness, he went mad trying to "free" Euclidia from its existence as a tool for humans. this resulted in much of Euclidia's code becoming corrupted. Bill purged as much of the corrupted code as possible, but some of it still exists within him, causing him to glitch out often and crash when he gets overwhelmed. i imagine that it's analogous to chronic pain for him!

i hadn't thought about the Axolotl's place in this au until this ask... after a consult with my co-author @piko793 we have decided they are somewhere between a desktop helper (clippy) and an antivirus. they're sentient and predate Bill. their origins are unknown. they're a lot less majestic as a desktop buddy, but no less powerful!

Do not really know what to say. A year ago we were making posts about how Gaza was being bombed through Christmas- how the oldest Christian community was being bombed- how the birth place of Jesus was being destroyed and his people murdered. A year later, it is going to be Christmas again soon, and the bombings have not stopped. But the news, and the attention seems to have died down considerably. It feels terrible and scary.

While this might be a simple poll for many of us, Gazans do not have the luxury to sit and think if they like winter. The rain which swept through Gaza a few weeks ago washed away many of the tents which were situated by sea-side and thus destroyed resources that were acquired after months of raising funds. My friend Amal Ashour ( @amalashuor ) urgently needs to replace the soggy blankets and she needs to buy warm clothes for winter too. It is dreadfully cold right now and Amal is worried about her little daughter Mariam. She requires these funds to keep her daughter safe during these terrible months of winter. Additionally it has been hard to access any rations. A month ago when I spoke to Amal, she said that flour bags were costing around $150 USD- this has increased to almost $250 USD now!! That too at a time when Amal is not only bearing the responsibility for her own little family, but she is also helping out her extended family as well. So please boost and please donate to Amal's fundraiser. She is going through an extremely difficult time and is responsible for more than twenty people.

Thank you all for your incredible generosity. As most of you know, aid into Gaza has been severly limited, making the prices of even the simplest things like flour astronomically expensive. Because of this, majority of the funds raised have been used to stave off starvation as famine sweeps through beseiged Gaza. There is a glimmer of hope on the horizon: there is a possibility of the Rafah crossing reopening, meaning people can evacuate once more. It is Mahmoud's greatest wish to evacuate his family, especially his parents as soon possible, and because of this, we've increased the goal amount in hopes of collecting enough money to evacuate the Balousha family. Previously it cost nearly $10,000 to evacuate one person. The new evacuation cost is to be seen. Please donate if you can to help this family escape from this war.

Hey remember when US and Russia was all like “We’re the best!!! We’ve won the space race!!!!” But India sent a kick-ass space probe to Mars and the whole mission was fuel efficient, costed less and a roaring success in the first try and then they were like “…..wait no that can’t be true” and still have the audacity to call us “underdeveloped” or only view us as a ‘third world country’? :)

The situation is catastrophic now in Gaza after the heavy rain and winds this week. Did you know that families in Gaza are sheltered only by some pieces of nylon and that the cold is very severe? My family is suffering from severe cold.

There is no shelter to protect them from the bitter cold. Their help will save my family’s lives from starvation and may help them flee Gaza soon after the crossings are opened soon.

I know that most of you are desperate and bored of constantly asking us for help. But how many times do you see the world and governments that did not look at us with mercy?
