1. what are you most interested in?
Psychological studies interest me the most among many other fields, more on the neural and clinical area. I enjoy studying the patterns of human behavior and psychological activities.
2. what kind of work do you enjoy the most?
The works that not only provide me with economic profits but also fit my interests, although it sounds impractical.
3. What energizes and motivates you when you think about possible career options?
The infinite possibilities of following the path of my future career. Also the possible achievements I might acquire along the way.
4. What are 4 specific steps you could take between now and the end of the semester toward your academic and professional success?
First is to keep track of my tasks as time is approaching the end of the semester. Second is to keep in touch with my major advisor who could provide me with information of course selection for next semester. Also I should continue use my leisure time on subjects that interest me, in order to examine whether it is truly the path I want to choose. Finally and most importantly, keep a regular sleep and wake schedule.

I am most interested in starting my business or just business in general. Because I like thinking about ideas and communicate taking about new ideas with people doing something together.  Money is not everything, but you can not have money in today’s society and I would like to become the person solving the problem. I would like to be my own boss one day and feel like I have done something in society.
2. What kind of work do you enjoy the most?
I most enjoy thinking about how to make money and help others make money.
3. What energizes and motivates you when you think about possible career options?
Right now the motivation for me is getting into Whiteman business of the management school to see my path more clear and I think that is the first step I need to take.
4. What are 4 specific steps you could take between now and the end of the semester toward your academic and professional success?
First-Keep all my grades up so I would have a bigger chance to get into Whitman school.
Second-Talk to Whitman advisers to ask what I can do to be better.
Third-Discuss with my dad, because he is a businessman or goes to some businessman speech to learn what is their story and how did them became successful.
Last-Think about what if I did not get into Whitman what other majors I can do help with my path and how do I minor a Whitman major.

four questions (lin)
1. What I am most interested in is to create, or to show my ideas on the screen, so this is why I chose film professional. 2. Because in the film profession, there are actually many kinds of work, such as director, cameraman, or screenwriter, etc., and I will be more interested in the work of scriptwriters, because I like to create. 3. If you can do something that interests you, it will be the most motivating thing, because I will find fun in the project again and again. 4. I think I will have planning first, then take each lesson seriously and learn the basics. Then every project is taken seriously, you can also actively discuss with the team members in the group project, exchange ideas, make progress together, and then do the final project.

Four Questions Ziling
1. I am interested in social classes since they are related to our daily lifes. I may feel familiar about these knowledge so I will pay more efforts to explore the beauty of the world. Courses such as psychology, sciences, economics are all attractive to me.
2. I would like to remember knowledge instead of looking up because I am kind of lazy. My memory works well nornally so it is easier for me to remember something such as terms, words or questions.
3. I will follow my heart which means that I will do what I loved. I think interests are the best teacher to guide you when you in career. Nobody could keep doing a hated career for a long time even though the rewards are attractive.
4. At first, I would like to list and think about how many tasks I still need to work. Then, I will schedule them to my planner with daily efforts. Third, I will find a motivation to stimulate me doing my work on time. 4. Organize all the things and classfiy them in order to prepare for finals.

Four Questions - Mya Pfeifer
1. What are you most interested in?
I am most interested in classes where I get to be creatively strategic. I like to be able to have a plan in how I’m going to approach assignments, but then get to be creative throughout the plan to make the assignment more interesting. This is what led me to a major in public relations, because it’s a form of strategic communications, where I will have to pay close attention to the tiny details, but then I’ll get to be creative when creating media and content to use in the communications process.
2. What kind of work do you enjoy the most?
l really enjoy work where I can leave it up to my own interpretation. We had to create a basic e-portfolio for my public relations class and it was fun because I got to build a website, use different types of multimedia, and be creative.
3. What energizes and motivates you when you think about possible career options?
What motivates me most is knowing I could really make a difference in my career. Whether I chose to work in the government and politics, in a school, or for a non-profit, public relations is going to give me the opportunity to do what I love and make a positive impact.
4. What are 4 specific steps you could take between now and the end of the semester toward your academic and professional success?
Between now and the end of the semester, I can take similar steps to the public relations process, RACE, which stands for research, analyze, communicate, and evaluate. For research, I can go through my syllabi and assignment sheets to figure out what has to get done between now and the end of the year. For analyze, I can break everything done and come up with plans of what to do when. For communicate, it’ll be less so communicate and more so take action to do everything day by day and remind myself to keep moving along. For evaluate, I can reflect at the end of the semester to determine which behaviors I should continue going into the fall semester.

“Time is what we want the most but use the worst” Ziling
You may find on the fritter Finder that I have regular life each day. I think it is important to keep my life regularly because it is good for health. The yellow grids are my study time and I can use Pomodoro Technique. I used to spend 30 to 45 minutes on study and finished a certain goal that made by myself. Then, I would spend 10 minutes to relax, such as playing with my roommate’s dog or get some food. It helps me focus on study again easily and I feel that it is a new start.
There is only one month left and we all want to go home, so it is hard to calm down to study. I would like to divide a month into 4 weeks. There are some events that make me excited during April. For example, my friends and I want to try a new restaurant next weekend, so I have passion to finish this week’s tasks. Later, April.15th is one of my friend’s birthday, we probably hang out together and have a party with several people. I probably have motivation to finish the tasks that week because I could not wait to join a exciting party! Look at the calendar at that time, there are only 2 weeks left, and the last week our teachers may not create many things for us to do. Dividing time into small pieces and having a exciting point during each pieces of time, I will have power to overcome difficulties in the following days.
If I feel very nervous, I will always sleep because I will be far away from the world when I fall asleep. It shows that I want to avoid the problems instead of solving it. When i wake up, I have already wasted several hours. During that time, I could do some meaningful things instead of sleeping. I would like to drink some coffee and do some sports to change this behavior. Doing sports will let people focus on study better and keep in good health.

Time is what we want the most but use the worst
During study time, I usually study for 30-40mins with 10 mins break comes after, and then continue working for 30-40 mins. This pattern is applied to all courses but I often tend to spend more time on ECN. I change to a different subject to work on every after a cycle is completed to maintain my brain and attention’s efficiency. A rare case is paper assignment, for which I spend one to one and a half hours each time to avoid losing catch on ideas.
The best motivation for me so far is the free time after completing tasks, and it will continue to apply in future. The relaxation comes from the feeling of no responsibility left behind is the best reward for me. I usually spend free time with friends, on exercising, and kinds of entertainment. It also helps to renew attention and efficiency for next coming tasks. And this motivation works well for me so far.
The most obvious avoidance behavior for me is the procrastination of some heavy jobs. It sometimes feels difficult to choose a first step to start with when big tasks fall on my shoulder such as major paper assignment and projects. In order to avoid it, I need to continue applying daily planner and subject outlining to my future assignments.

The picture shows my example of fritter finder. The fritter finder helps me to find a time gap during each day that I can use for other things instead of wasting time. After using the fritter finder, I realized that I have always had time that I wanted, but I could never properly use them or manage them before. I find study is kinda boring and I have a hard time to focus on school work for a long time, so I really need breaks to talk to my friends or to stretch a little bit. By doing this will refresh my brain and keep me going. I feel like we are at this point that we do not have much motivation like the beginning or toward the final. I would talk to myself that what is my goal of this semester and tell myself that giving up or cheating won’t get me there. My avoidance behavior is too easy to get distracted. Nowadays your phone could be the most important thing for you and sometimes I felt the same way. I would get distracted in class or studying. Right now I need to set some limit for myself like turn off the phone until I finish this paper.

time is what we want most and use worst(lin)
I color non-class time for each weekday, and then scheduled preview and review tasks during these times. The fritter finder helps me find out what time I can take advantage of, and then arrange the time reasonably. I would like to have more time to do what I want to do, but I am worried that I can't arrange it well. That would be very bad. Then I completed the vocab assignment of Enl through the Pomodoro Technique method. At this time, my motivation is already coming to the end of the semester, and it is already very fast from the summer vacation, and it will be very positive. For my current avoidance behavior will be fail to show up in some event, I feel that I need to adjust my mindset and have more contact with other.

“Time is what we want the most but use the worst” (Mya)
Tumblr media
This is my example of my fritter finder and I feel like I don’t really use a lot of time as “fritter” time because since I have such a busy schedule, I know I have to keep myself to it. The one thing I struggle most with is finding time to eat and take care of myself physically because I have so many other obligations that I forget to prioritize myself.
Tumblr media
I used the Pomodoro technique while studying for COM 101, but I modified it a little bit. I studied for about 40 minutes and then took a 10 minute break to call my parents and chat, and then went back to work for about 20 more minutes. It was helpful to take that break and finish up in the last 20 minutes because I was able to refocus myself to finish what I need to finish without breaking it up into two medium sized chunks of time.
To keep myself motivated at this point in the semester, I’m trying to remind myself up exciting things coming up and reminding myself of things like “less than two weeks until my dad comes” and then after that it’ll be “less than two weeks left of classes” and then “less than two weeks until my mom comes and I am moving out from my freshman year dorm”. Giving myself these little motivators is helping me break down the time so the end of the semester doesn’t feel quite so long and stressful.
One of my biggest avoidance behaviors has become doing work to justify not partaking in social activities. I’ve started unhealthily isolating myself and leaving social events early and it’s taking a toll on my mental health to never be participating fully in things with other people. I need to remember to be in the moment and enjoy the people around me instead of letting my mind wander to the stressors in my life.

“You can do anything, but not everything” (Sean)
Tumblr media
Stress management strategies of Stress-O-Meter is really helpful for me to track everything I have to finish and mark off. I would write down like the stress of the day and give it a level base on the stress meter. Then I would use stress reducer to help me reduce as much as stress that I can before the end of the day. Just like this week title of our Tumblr group, “you can do anything, but not everything.” I could take anything on my shoulder, but I will get crushed if everything is on my shoulder. That reminds me it is ok to slow down or do one thing at the time because I am a normal people, not Superman. When I am stressed I really like take a hot bath or treat myself to something special (food), but I would do the mediation repeatedly when I got up, focused meditation really gives me the hope of the day and start my day fresh.
For others that also suffer from stress, the way I think works for most people is to sweat off. Going to the gym for two hours or call up a friend and go for a run around a park or the school campus. Putting your earphone on and turn up the music sweat your stress out!

“You can do anything, but not everything” (Mya)
This week the stress management strategies helped me to see where I needed to put all of my time in. I used the stress-o-meter for the back end of the week and it showed me that the higher my stress was, the more things there were that I needed to address. Reminding myself that I can’t do everything reminded me that it’s okay to stop and take a break. Sometimes it’s okay to put responsibilities aside and focus on your own health and your own needs.
Tumblr media
The list of stressors on my computer was nice because it was like I was just taking them out of my head for the night and acknowledging that I would deal with them the next day. I can’t do everything in one day, so acknowledging that there was nothing I could do until the next day was helpful.
The breathing strategy didn’t work as well for me because, to me, deep breathing is just passive action. When I acknowledge my stressors and make a plan for how to fix them I feel better. When I just sit and breathe, it doesn’t feel like I’m less stressed, it feels like I just wasted a minute.
My recommendation for anyone dealing with stress is to try out different techniques and acknowledge that not every technique will be right for you. Experiment and find the one that does, because anything might work, but everything won’t.

After practice, Listing daily stressors and stress level is really helpful for realizing how stressors influence my mood. By listing them down, I found out that most of them won’t take too much time to complete although they may feel like huge rocks. In some way this method works as daily planners to enforce me to take actions. And the relief comes after is already a big reward for me.
Also deep breathing is so helpful for falling asleep. It can easily takes away my thoughts when I try to get some sleep, as long as I keep doing it. However on the other hand, it works not really well for me during daylight, since it can be really hard to focus on the breathing. I strongly recommend this meditation method to those who have trouble sleeping just because there are too many concerns over daily stressors that still lingering around even on bed. And my personal experience tells me summarize stressors and stress level once a week can be more useful since it won’t remind you thinking about them all the time.

“You can do anything ,but not everything.”(Ziling)
The first stress management is “ A day at a time”. I wrote down five reasons that caused stress on a paper before sleep. Then, I focused one of them and tried to solve it in a day at a time. For example, I have had questions about my Fall 2019 class registration, so I made an ppointment with my advisor on Wednesday and talked about her advice. Thus, I could draw a line through it which means that it would not be my stress no longer. I used the same way to slove rest of them, too. In order to connect with the theme, we may not remove all the stress, but we can try our best to minimize instead of avoiding stress, because avoiding is impossible.
Second one is “Stress meter”, which made me evaluate and rate my stress level and create different to solve them. With the “Stress Meter” form, I could easily realize which one should pay more efforts. Therefore, I chose a chunk of time to minimize the stress that caused by this reason. For example, a exam is the strongest one, so I decided to prepare it on Tuesday because I only have one calss on Tuesday, so I can spend more time on it. A quiz is the mildest, so I can solve it during break time on Wednesday though I have 4 classes. Just as the theme’s meaning, we may use our time efficiently to make it more productive since our achievements are limited.
“Focused Meditation” allowed me to calm down and used my imagination to reduce stress. I may stay in a peaceful place and focus on my breath to help me relax. Most of stress are caused bacause we did not calm down to think about problems. Once our heart becomes peaceful, stress will go away naturally.
The best way to redeuce stress is to do whatever you loved. Interests are the best teachers to help you feel happy. If you are happy, the stress will be minimized. For example, when I have too much pressure, I used to play the piano to reduce it. When I am addicted to music world, all of my pressure does away. It also helps me calm down and come up with useful method to solve them. We are not supermen, so we can not do everthing. However, we are powerful huam, who could do anything to make achievements.

“you can do anything ,but not everything.”(Lin)
a day at a time let me write an item that causing me stress before going to bed every night, then I will draw a line once I feel that this will not become my pressure again. Then I wrote a total of five stresses, but with stress reducer used I have all solved these stresses. Then I used a stress meter to measure the level of my daily stress. After all, I wrote the cause and what method I used to solve the stress. And the pressure I have written so far has been alleviated by a variety of methods.Focused meditation help me turn my attention to my chosen target and take in the sensation it provides, every morning i begin with the meditation ,it help me to keeping clam reminding me to be a mindful mind of the day.
I think there are really many ways to relieve stress, such as running, doing some exercise, and then you can also talk to friends, teachers, and family ,and attend activities. My advice is to talk to friends more, treat yourself to something special. And don't ask yourself too much, because too much demand for yourself will lead to cumulative pressure on yourself. You can do anything to pursue perfection, but you also need to know that you can't do the perfection that everything can do. When it is not enough, it may become your pressure ,we have to face and deal with this pressure with the right attitude and way.

Mid-semester Self-Assessment (Sean)
The most helpful skills for me during this semester is goal setting. I do not like or have interesting in being on top of everything, tracking my steps. Trying to finish any work that is due tomorrow at 1 am sounds more like me. Though goal setting helps me to plan things ahead, followed the track. Since I do every work the minute before it is due, I would forget some work that I need to do. Then I will miss the assignment to get a zero and that brings my grade down.
For the rest of this semester, I still need to focus on my GPA to not fall below 3.5, that is the requirement for transferring to Whitman school of management and I am really interested in study business. Another goal would get an A on my PSY class.  PSY 205 is a class which you need to read and memorize a lot of information but I am not good at reading nor memorizing. I would afraid to do the studying or the work and I need to fight that so I can get a good grade.
