Has the pandemic changed the way you run your business, if you are a business man or woman?
I run a photography business in London and I became increasingly worried when I heard about coronavirus and how it is transferred from one person to another. I run my business alone and occasionally, I get invited to events by customers to take photographs. I always preferred to accept cash in hand, so that I could keep an eye on my profit at the end of the week and deposit the funds into my business account.
I attended a small event after a lockdown in London and I kept all of the money I received after taking photos at the event in an envelope, which I slipped into my handbag. I didn't drive that night, because I knew that I was going to drink a few glasses of wine at the event and would leave the event late. Anyway, I got on a packed train, and I am sure anyone residing in London will know what it feels like to sit on a packed train on a Saturday night. There was so much heat and we all had to wear masks to protect ourselves from coronavirus. I had to stand on the train as there were no seats, but I wasn't too worried, as my house is five train stops away from where the event took place. I got home and decided to count the money I had slipped into my handbag at the event and I realized that my handbag was open and the envelope wasn't there. I then remembered that when I got to a train station on my way to the event, there was a signboard warning people to beware of pickpockets. I know that crimes such as theft and fraud are higher now because most people have lost jobs in the pandemic.
I suddenly realized that the envelope had been stolen on the packed train. I explained my frustration to a friend who runs an off-license store around the corner from my house the following day. He advised me to use a card reader I had never heard of before, to accept payments.
I must say that I have used other card readers in the past, but the fees per transaction were so high and it took days for my money to reach my business account. There were clearly a number of issues with the card readers I used and that was the sole reason I decided to accept cash in hand from my customers.
I decided to purchase the SumUp Card Reader, my friend, at the off-license store told me about and I have used it for three months. I am now able to accept card payments anywhere, and at my place of business via the SumUp Card Reader. I think a lot of small businesses prefer to accept cash, but in the current situation, we all know that accepting cash in hand isn't advisable.
I prefer to use the SumUp Card Redear because there are no fixed costs and it is also hassle-free to use, unlike other card readers I have used in the past. I know that there are a lot of people who own small businesses like me, who are unsure whether card readers are affordable, especially for a small business where the amount you make on a daily basis varies. In my opinion, small businesses too can use card readers, just make sure that you find one where the fees per transaction are cheaper than other card readers and there are no problems transferring the money into your bank account at the end of a hard day’s work.
I wouldn't normally recommend a product, but on this occasion, if there are any small business struggling to manage their finances, or are unsure of the type of card reader to use, I can say without a doubt that the SumUp Card Reader is a good an option to consider. The fee per transaction is also less than what is charged by other card reader companies.
Also, if you are someone who travels around a lot like me, or owns a business that requires that you travel to attend events, you can take the SumUp Card Reader along with you, and have your customer pay you by card instead.
The SumUp Card Reader runs on a battery, but it can take up to 500 transactions on a single battery charge and it only takes a few minutes to recharge the battery when it runs low. It also doesn't take long to get the SumUp Card Reader running and activated after purchase.
Well as the saying goes, sharing is caring, and so I have attached a link below for anyone who is interested in the SumUp Card Reader and would like to purchase one. My friend at the off-license store provided me with the below link, which I also used to purchase my SumUp Card Reader at a discounted price. I encourage you to visit the link below to learn about the variety of SumUp Card Readers available, and to purchase your SumUp Card Reader if you are interested, or simply want to give it a try. https://sumup.co.uk/sumupconsultant/PDNTUVKL
I understand there is a special offer running for a while, and therefore this is the best time to purchase the SumUp Card Reader. However, if you decide not to purchase the SumUp Card Reader, just make sure you don't get another card reader with high fixed fees per transaction, which is also tedious to set up, activate, or use.
