ok so demon seed 1977 (yes the WORST title possible) is a sci-fi horror about this super-intelligent computer system who craves being human so much that it forcibly impregnates this woman so that she can give birth to a super-intelligent child who can actually live through like a human. the woman is the ex-wife of the man who invented the computer, and her home automation system is connected to it. so the computer essentially abuses her after taking control of it, and terrorizing her until she agrees to be impregnated.

the film clearly deals with anxieties surrounding machines we build who are more intelligent than us, and how they are an inherent enemy to the humans who built them & rely on them. the child born in the end looks monstrous at first, and is presented as a menace. the computer called them an "evolution": smarter than it was itself, but also with the power of humanity. we're supposed to be scared.

and like titane takes the opposite stance from the beginning: not only can humans be cold and untrustworthy, but machines can provide even more comfort than humans. the sex here is also entirely consensual. like machines are beautiful because we built them, and they can teach us to love & become even more human ourselves.
