PLOT DROP ONE: THE DISAPPEARANCE OF ANNIE ADLER.

October 5th, 2120. 

The sun falls, as it does, but the crowd doesn’t seem to want to dwindle. After all, once this day is over, everyone knows they will have to return to their normal, everyday routine. The children are still running around, balloons in hand (though many of them have now disappeared into the sky), and the rest of the citizens seem to be crowded around the drinking and eating area. 

Then, a scream. 

The music stops, and everyone turns towards the sound, only to see Mrs. Adler hold a tiny red shoe with two shaking hands. Annie! She shouts into the crowd -- Annie is gone, someone please help - 

The Watchers quickly come to assist her - or perhaps to tell her to be quiet - but she is soon carried away by them, away from the crowd and out of the festival. But the damage has already been done; the crowd stands in awkward silence, barely whispering amongst themselves until the Watchers go up to the stage to talk to the Fleeting Sunsets and they quickly begin to play again.

I’m sure she’s just wandering about, you hear someone say. The others agree, and the crowd continues to dance and sing along, as though nothing ever happened at all.

has it been asked how large metropolis is? if you had to compare it in size to a city today, how large would it be?

Metropolis has about 900 citizens at the moment, and growing rapidly! So by today’s standards, it wouldn’t necessarily be considered a “city,” but it’d be more like a small town. However, because of the war, of course, Metropolis is actually one of the bigger communities surviving, hence it is referred to as a city.

DINAH aka WILLA ELIZABETH LAMENTA ( FC: Nathalie Emmanuel ) written by BEE.

First of all, I can’t emphasize enough how incredible both of the apps were for Dinah. In the end, it was the kindness and the love Willa showed her community that really caught my attention, as I’d originally envisioned Dinah to be. Seeing the little details you threw in your writing, especially in Josephine and Willa’s journals, I loved seeing parts of Metropolis come to life. In particular, I loved all the other people around Willa - Sammy, Harry, Ms. Laurie, even Andy. It made her seem so real and because of the way she spoke about those around her and treat them, it made sense to me that they’d come to help her with her cafe. I’m really looking forward to writing against Willa! 

EVE aka MÜGE AĞÇAY ( FC: Bensu Soral ) written by SARA.

Another extremely difficult choice for me! Eve - they’re a complicated one. Like you said yourself, I feel it’s very difficult to write a character who cares a lot about the people and the place she’s abandoned. But you’ve portrayed that so well here and I was so entranced by the conversation between Müge and the watcher - particularly how short and simple her answers were and how much weight her lies held. You didn’t have to spell it out for me to immediately get that sense of guilt and regret that I really wanted to see. We’ve all been desperately waiting for an Eve so we are all so excited that you are here, Sara!

Yes! Though kind of depends on what holiday. Independence day, probably not. Christmas, definitely!

do the districts have schools? (including 3?) how does that work, esp regarding mutants? thank you!!

I answered a similar question about education before! There is no formal education in D2 and D3, only in District 1. As such, the only academic institutions exist in D1!

EVENT ONE: THE CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION. 

October 5th, 2120. 

The day of the centennial celebration: the sun seems to be shining brighter than ever, and the city is buzzing with excitement. People wake up early to put on their best clothes and shoes, and flock to the gates of District Two, where they are greeted by the large sign that hangs over their heads. The sign reads: THE CHANCELLOR WELCOMES YOU TO THE 100TH ANNIVERSAY CELEBRATION OF METROPOLIS. The numbers 1-0-0 are written big, bold, red letters. But not many are paying attention to the signs, as they are too busy lining up, getting the back of their hands stamped for their entrance into the festival. 

Mrs. Adler and her daughter Annie of the second district greet the guests, handing out colorful balloons to the children and pamphlets with all the fun events and attractions of the day, which include the following:

Watchers, as expected, are at every exit, making sure they take note of everyone coming in and out and of course, making sure that everyone stays in line. 

Two hours into the festival, there’s a distinct sound of people screaming -- no, cheering. The Chancellor makes a rare appearance! And she waves lovingly at the citizens, even shaking a few hands on her way to the stage. She gives the mic a few delicate taps, before speaking: 

“Good morning, citizens of Metropolis,” she begins, “it is my greatest honor to have all of you here in one place. Today is a day of celebration, but even more than that, it is a day of hope.” She turns to her left and reaches out her hand, and little Annie Adler makes her way towards the Chancellor to take it. Annie offers a small wave and the crowd awws. “I am sure all of you have met Annie today and saw in her how bright our future is at Metropolis. Look around you -- look at all the greatness we have, and know that it will only get better.” 

The Chancellor brushes a stray hair out of her face. “So please enjoy what we’ve prepared for you today, and please remember: we can only enjoy this as long as we keep all things in order. Humans, mutants - all of us.”

EVENT ONE (OOC) 

Welcome to our first event, and welcome again to 2120! We are starting off with a fairly open event, so please feel free to have your characters explore it in any way you’d like, and let the characters get to know each other! Your characters may choose to simply enjoy the festival, or get into some shenanigans if they’d like -- it’s all up to you. 

If your character would like to be helping out at any of the booths or areas of the festival, please feel free to station them there! And be sure to get them to enjoy this joyful day -- it may not last for long.

THE EVENT WILL LAST FROM OCTOBER 4th, 2020 TO October 11th, 2020.  NEXT PLOT DROP: October 11th.
