Вскрывает неявные стороны жизни страны и особенности принятия решений по развитию, строительству, сохранению культурных ценностей и т. д. Можно было бы сократить описание примеров и привести краткую обобщающую таблицу. Местами переводчик не понимает, что имеет в виду автор (заметил на примерах из спортивной жизни). Очень интересный роман, охватывающий несколько лет из периода зрелости главного героя. Хорошо прописаны персонажи. Захотелось посмотреть альбом работ художника. Почти ничего не пишет о борьбе СССР против Еврорейха. Запомнил выписку из румынских газет от осени 1941 г., что война будет долгой и тяжёлой (привет блицкригу). Мартин ван Кревельд «Американская загадка» https://i.livelib.ru/boocover/1000386520/o/fe1f/Martin_van_Kreveld__Amerikanskaya_zagadka.jpeg Израильский историк описывает США с точки зрения европейца. Очень интересно и познавательно. Отмечены мессианские идеи США, мобильность, отсутствие оплачиваемого отпуска по уходу за детьми. Иногда автор пишет чушь — например, называя Чехию большой страной.

There are too much examples. It has some problems with translation into Russian - with sport terms and asects, for example. Very interesting novel covering several years from maturity period of the main character. Well-described characters and relations between them. Interestin sigressions on Spanish politics. Ivan Bunin - Cursed Days https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/e/e0/Cursed_days_cover.jpg/200px-Cursed_days_cover.jpg Writer's diaries (since 1917 till 1950s): hysterically, depressively, heart-searching. It wasn't pleasant reading absolutely. The author almost didn't write about struggle of the USSR against Nazi Germany and its allies and satellites. I remembered an extract from the Romanian newspapers from fall of 1941 that war will be long and heavy (end of blitzkrieg). Martin van Creveld - The American Riddle https://i.livelib.ru/boocover/1000386520/o/fe1f/Martin_van_Kreveld__Amerikanskaya_zagadka.jpeg The Israeli historian describes the USA from the European point of view. Very interesting and informative. The messianic ideas of the USA, population mobility, lack of the paid holiday on care of children. Sometimes the author writes nonsense — for example, calling the Czech Republic the big country.

Норм. Франц Кафка «Замок» https://knizhka.club/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/01966445.cover_415.jpg откровенный сюрреализм, каждую главу всё меняется. Не понравилось, т. к. не увидел какого-то смысла в этом произведении. Дочитал с трудом. Как и при чтении книги "Игра в бисер" постоянно задавался вопросом "для чего это всё?" Сэмюэль Беккет «Моллой» https://cv0.litres.ru/static/bookimages/27/60/65/27606508.bin.dir/27606508.cover_330.jpg Книга откровенно не зашла: описание событий из уст старика, у которого начинает прогрессировать слабоумие и паралич. Ничего интересного. С трудом прочитал всего треть книги. Джеймс Олдридж «Охотник» https://www.bookvoed.ru/files/1836/25/84/95.jpg Про непростую жизнь канадского охотника-траппера в 1940-50-х гг. Очень интересное описание природы, охоты, ухода от погони, борьбы за жизнь. Банки отбирают фермы за долги. Прогрессивный фермер говорит о необходимости организовать аналоги колхозов и МТС. Хорошо прописаны отношения между героями. Интрига держит до последних страниц. Очень понравилась. Джеймс Олдридж «Последний дюйм» https://ozon-st.cdn.ngenix.net/multimedia/1003307898.jpg Пилот с 10-летним сыном прилетают в уединённую бухту Красного моря для подводной съёмки акул. Что-то пошло не так — израненный акулами пилот не может везти самолёт. Вся надежда на мальчика. Хорошо написано. Добавил Олдриджа в мой список любимых англоязычных авторов.

Interesting to read (but "Airport" is a little bit better). Franz Kafka "The Castle" https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Mj8GbVcCUYc/V3kxA5IsKAI/AAAAAAAACe8/Ig4GAx4GYxwrjprwRm1_LTjcS8viXUZ5QCLcB/s1600/417RWIPrkiL._SX334_BO1%252C204%252C203%252C200_.jpg frank surrealism, everything changes during each chapter. Don't like it, since I did not see any sense in this novel. Read up hardly. As well as when reading "The Glass Bead Game" by H.Hesse constantly asked myself: "what for is all of this?" Samuel Beckett "Molloy" https://ic.pics.livejournal.com/peter_mclachlin/15197557/35890/35890_320.jpg Didn't like the novel at all: the description of events from lips of the old man at whom weak-mindedness and paralysis begins to progress. Nothing interesting. I read hardly only a fourth part of the book. James Aldridge "The Hunter" https://img.fantasticfiction.com/images/n31/n158698.jpg About hard life of the Canadian hunter-trapper in the 1940-50th. Very interesting description of nature, hunting, leaving from a pursuit, fight for life. Banks select farms for debts. The successful progressive farmer speaks about need to organize analogs of collective farms and machine tractor stations. The relations between heroes are well registered. The intrigue holds to the last pages. Very interesting reading. James Aldridge "The Last Inch" https://ozon-st.cdn.ngenix.net/multimedia/1003307898.jpg The pilot with his 10-year-old son arrive in a lonely bay at Red Sea for underwater sharks shooting. Something went wrong — the pilot covered with wounds by sharks cannot carry the plane. All hope for the boy. Well written book. Aldridge entered my "English-speaking writers hall of fame".
