I always say that everytime I rewatch Black Sails I have a new revelation because the level of detail of this show is so insane you truly need a lifetime to get it all. Well, here's my new revelation.
During this scene I've always been so caught up in Max and Eleanor and the repercusions this moment will have for both of them the rest of the series that I've always failed to notice, to really notice, this concious shot of Flint: he is literally watching Eleanor and Max have the nastiest break up of all time, in a way, because of him. A relationship everyone in the island seem to know about, mind you.
But it's true he just wanted the page back, he didn't know Max was involved at all until they mentioned in front of Eleanor that Silver was working with someone and she connected the dots, but it makes you wonder what he's thinking about. Would he have tried to take another route to get the page to avoid this situation between Eleanor and Max had he known? Would they have had his sympathy, even if only a little bit, even if at the end he needed to get to this point anyway? Or it just doesn't matter at all because his revenge is above all?
This doesn't seem to mean anything in the moment but it means quite something in the context of his own story. And I've always thought this but now I'm truly phantoming to what degree Max and Flint are direct opposites of each other, because she is true to herself in the only way Flint can't be.
To be honest I think Flint and Max never held a true conversation in this show because the world would not have been able to handle those two together. Have they ever been in the same team, have they ever really known each other, they would have been unrivalled.

This is the moment Max started to win me over.
She is my favorite female character of Black Sails (second overall) and of all time (third overall) and I can't wait to talk about her more in future seasons. For now, I can say that I LOVE loyal characters and I love the role that loyalty plays in this particular episode, now with Silver and later with Eleanor.
Oh, that scene with Eleanor at the end of the episode... we'll get to that because I have a lot of things to say.

I should value this scene more considering they are, to me, the funniest Black Sails characters and they barely interact at all.

This part gags me so bad every time because it shows so well what a master manipulator Flint is and how his arrogance doesn't know limits, he trusted Billy would lie for him and he did. I love that little detail of Silver double checking if he still has the page because Flint's theatrics make him hesitate.
This is one of my favorite scenes of the whole series and it just episode one, my god.

I won't say much this time around unless I feel I have something to say I didn't say last year, but I might take the opportunity to highlight some little moments I love. Like this one, god I always miss later on how funny Silver was in seasons 1 and 2.

I'm pleased to inform you that now that summer just begun and I'm suffering the highest temperatures of the year so far in my city (36°C), my Black Sails summer is starting because I need to cope. So let's go!

Fictional characters are so fun to like because I can excuse the most evil deeds imaginable but I draw the line at being boring and/or annoying.

I'm re reading one of my favorite webtoons before watching the kdrama version that just premiered and I'm just realizing several of my favorite protagonists are incredible people for better or worst, good at what they do, almost legends, but more often than not also bullshitting their way through things.
Their greatness is a mix between mostly hability, some shamelessness from time to time and a little bit of luck. I love it.
#this is about gijun from plaza wars#but it applies to flint and john silver too#and sherlock. actually

A couple of weeks ago I decided I'm going to watch every single Eurovision gala and just today I also decided I'm going to rank my country's entries (Spain) because I just watched our debut. I don't think I've watched all our performances actually, this is going to be so fun and embarrassing 🙂↕️

I recently started watching Nine Puzzles and Ena and Hansaem are just this (at least from Hansaem's part).

I love main character duos (when you can't really separate them because both are equally important to whatever bullshit is happening, even if one of them is suppose to be the protagonist) and I'm really, really enjoying this one.

I was reading some old tweets of mine and now I'm thinking about Ragnar and Athelstan again, you wouldn't believe how intense my feelings about this pair in general and Athelstan in particular are.
Everytime I think about them it fucks me up so bad and the last time I rewatched the show until Athelstan's you-know-what because I hate being happy.

I don't know how to explain how surreal it feels that Tony Aguilar of all people making an objective comment about Gaza in one Eurovision semifinal is leading to the spanish public channel making their strongest statement yet in favour of Palestine, which has led to other countries that were already very pro-Palestine to make their own statements and back us up. And all of this is leading to even major critics that finally have reached several goverments.
I was wrong about the whole Conclave thing, it could still be topped.
