Reflection:
Ella -
Overall I am really happy with our project and had so much fun creating it. I think Rachel and I worked really well together, utilising our strengths. We met up often to discuss progress and split the work between ourselves so that we were working on things we enjoyed and were good at. We were both honest with each other and gave good feedback and critique of our work. In the super crit (week 10) we were told to change our visual style and both felt upset and stressed about this as we had put so much work into the project leading up to this. In the end we are glad we changed to a more collage, illustrative style as it put more attitude into the designs and created something very different to a typical AR project. The clip art collage look suited our strengths more and was much quicker to create the world and video. I think our enjoyment and passion for the project showed in the amount of work we put into it and in our presentation.

We initially were just going to have the logo show up when people walk away from the poster but decided to have it there the whole time. The poster still didn’t seem as exciting as it could be so we added little illustrations that would give more of an insight to how the exhibition will look.

We walked around town to take photos and visualise where best to place the posters in relation to where families, parents and kids would be most likely to see them and be willing to stop for a look.

For the titles, we took photos and adjusted in photoshop then image traced in illustrator to create clear words.

We walked down to Te Papa on a nice sunny day to take these photos for the banners. The banners are displayed outside Te Papa to draw people into the exhibition and clarify for those who have seen a poster that they’re in the right place.

Sticker Chart
Sticker chart mock up
We have decided to do a sticker chart poster instead of a book. It will be hung on the wall in the kitchen/living room or the kids room. The poster forces kids to engage and interact whereas the book could be just put in a corner and forgotten about. Even though the poster could be more disposable I think Kid’s love stickers and big colourful things on the wall so will be more inclined to use it and get sustained learning/habits.

Exchange Moment 4: Show
It was really interesting to see how the industrial and spacial projects have evolved since seeing the initial concepts and ideas. Rachel and I were able to help and give feedback on their projects from a VCD perspective.
Some feedback we got was to change the pink to a more grapefruit red colour as its more vibrant and still goes with the yellow and blue.
