These three pieces were created with a certain aesthetic in order to elicit different emotions from different viewers. The idea would be that they are displayed in a public space (e.g. a bus stop) and in a postmodern way, people would draw their own emotions and intentions from each poster. For me, they are Sadness, Happiness and Anger from left to right. However, for others, these may elicit different emotions. I tried to keep them all light hearted because it’s difficult to draw sexism, racism, homelessness and other things that make me sad in this kind of aesthetic. And ice-cream cones dropped do often make me sad.
I really like this triptych because it's very consistent in its aesthetic. The circular motif carries through all three of them and the colours really highlight and define each graphic. I'd really like to do something similar to this, albeit in a different style.
The emotions I'm drawn to are fear, happiness, sadness and anger. Initially I had the idea to portray emotions through videos of their impacts and consequences. I've since realised, however, that finding these videos is quite difficult so I might try looking into another approach I was considering—something similar to a triptych of movie posters for each emotion.
The idea behind the animatic was to create a sense of light-heartedness, joy and enthusiasm without too much flash. I wanted to use summer-y, bright colours so that any corporate head or person who is in charge can see exactly how fun the idea might be—and thus approve of such an idea. I used basic shapes transitions to reinforce this message.
The imagery used was found from different sources with creative commons. I used pictures that felt soft, yet emotive and hoping to evoke a sense of wanderlust. The text was kept simple so as not to confuse or overload an individual.
The final animation was made to be easily interpreted in other cities and with other bands, placing heavier focus on the idea rather than the lineup. Altogether open images used from flickr and unsplash were used to create a low-fi animatic promoting the hypothetical event.
