i think at the end of the day, a big part of the reason my inquisitor feels so close to sera and bull in particular is that neither of them put the inquisitor on a pedestal - more than that, they actively reject it.

sera frequently wants reassurance that you're still a Person, that you're still You. especially in a romance. "i didn't want to go up, i wanted you to go down / i didn't bed my way to power, power bed its way to me. big beautiful difference / i just need you to stay you / an inquisitor of the people, still remembering you're one of them"

bull recognizes that the inquisitor title is a mantle you wear, one that's exhausting. he offers respite from that both as a lover (in the "here in this room you can let go of being in charge" way) and as a friend. he's not andrastian like josie, dorian, cass, etc. who all either express that they believe or want to believe you're andraste's chosen.

i have a great deal of love for the aforementioned characters (and many others - blackwall does a lot of pedestaling too, and it's wrapped up in his longing for absolution)..... but when i'm playing around in my inky's brain, i imagine her beelining for the tavern because bull and sera are there. like she knows she can put her feet up with those two. like they wouldn't have it any other way.

Man is just out in the hinterlands cosplaying. Like replaying the game knowing Solas is the Dread Wolf adds all this cool intrigue and double meaning but replaying it knowing about Blackwall is fucking wild. He looks you in the face and lies directly out of his ass. Solas is all doublespeak and careful omission and Blackwall just fully makes shit up. What a madlad. I'm obsessed with him. he's so fake it til you make it. He would kill it on TikTok just like "oh yeah grey wardens can't get COVID it's right here in the treaties" and no one calls him on it because the treaties are old as fuck and boring. Alistair (who is supposed to be able to sense the Blight) is like oh hey blackwall haha we've definitely met I totally remember you. No you Haven't, Alistair. You've never seen this jackass ever in your life. He looks Solas, god of betrayal, in the eyes and says with full confidence "Yes, I am a Grey Warden." And Solas is like Sure. Iron Bull? Buys his bullshit completely. Leliana? Thinks he's cool.
