I’m more scared of them fucking up Buddie than I am of Buddie not happening at all.

Because in my head this is meant to be both Buck‘s and Eddie‘s final relationship. No more problems, no breaking up/getting back together shit. Just pure love and domesticity. A fight here or there, yes, but handled well. With communication. Not by breaking up and sleeping with someone else.

No shutting each other out. No operating on assumptions. This is supposed to be their forever relationship and I need it to be written well more than I need it to be canon.

The gang develops a running joke that when something out of their control happens, it’s Dally and Johnny haunting them.

Steve’s car won’t start and Soda goes, “looks like ol’ Dal’s givin us a sign that we shouldn’t go to work today. We better listen, ya don’t wanna disrespect the dead.”

Darry trips on Pony’s backpack in front of the door. “Goddamn it Pony, I told you not to leave your stuff in the doorway!” “It wasn’t me. That musta been Dally messin with you.”

The next day Darry gets him back when Ponyboy is sitting on the porch writing, and a gust of wind sends all his loose pages flying across the yard. “I think Johnnycake’s tryin to tell you that ain’t your best work.”

Buck goes to visit Eddie and Chris. While he’s gone. There’s a news story about two civilians rescuing someone from some disaster.

Chim: Did you hear about what happened in El Paso?

Bobby: A bit, but I didn’t pay much attention.

Hen: What do you mean?

*Bobby’s phone rings*

Bobby (on phone): Yes, this is Captain Nash. Yes. Oh. Oh no. Oh my god. Thank god. Yes, of course. Right away.

*hangs up phone*

Pony would randomly just jump on his brothers' backs and hug them like a koala while they act like it's not happening cause they're so used to it

Darry walks in

Two-bit: "Hey Darry, I think ya'll are out of bread"

Darry, with a ponyboy on his back: "Really? I'll get some later then." Darry gets out a bowl and starts pouring cereal

Two-bit: "make sure to get the- Woah, you know you got a wild pone sittin there on your back?"

Darry, acting like it's normal: "yup"

Pony: "yup"

And he just keeps eating his cereal and reading the newspaper like there isn't a 14 year old on him

Oh! Nothing! Just Pony after Soda’s breakdown when he’s pushing himself up and immediately curling into himself as he shakes and cries. How he keeps adjusting his fingers because his body feels so heavy but he can’t bear to be still. Then there’s Darrel who is suddenly trying to approach him more softly because this wasn’t what he wanted. He wanted his little brother to feel something again, sure, but he hadn’t meant for Pony’s disassociation to turn into never ending, body wracking sobs. He’s trying gentle reassurances and he’s trying to get Pony to look at him. He tries everything and he feels so completely helpless when nothing seems to work.
