Titivillus was a demon said to introduce error into the work of scribes. Here he is as depicted in a detail from "Virgin of Mercy" by Diego de la Cruz, 1485. Why he's wearing biker shorts is a mystery.

Inktober Day 16: ANGEL

Modern American Christian angel depictions are, I’m sorry to say, boring. Basically a clean-cut wholesome-looking person in a white robe with wings. No color, no personality. On the other hand, medieval angels, orthodox angels, Islamic angels… THEY are much more interesting to draw. 

I decided to go in a bit of a different direction and settled on the Biblical description of the order of angels known as “Thrones” (sometimes translated as “Wheels”). They are wonderfully bizarre, almost terrifying beings. Like the old joke says, there is a reason why whenever an angel appears to someone in the Bible the first thing they have to say is, “be not afraid.”

Inktober Day 5: MAP

Decided to map Costa Rica since I will be visiting there in a few weeks. Being a D&D aficionado I'm a sucker for a good fantasy map, and this country with its vast forests, exotic wildlife, interesting coastlines, and numerous volcanoes, lends itself well to the genre.
