In our new module we’ve been looking at and experimenting with still life photography in the studio, this is my first ever still life photo that I’ve taken, as an example.

This photograph was taken using a soft box light at 45 degrees, there is more shadows on one side of the models face as the light is pointing at him from the right side. It gives the portrait a darker atmosphere and brings out features in the models face.

This photograph was taken using 45 degree angle lighting using a soft box light. As you can see here there are many soft shadows on the side of the subjects face, as the light was not infront of the models face but instead placed at the right side of the model.

This photograph was taken using frontal lighting, using a soft box light, and a reflector under the models face, as seen she does not have dark shadows under her chin, as the reflector has reflected from the soft box light to give lighting under neath the model.

This photograph was taken using frontal lighting, using a soft box light, which gives it a full on view of the models face without soft shadows on her face, there was no reflector used in this image, as the subject still has a shadow under her chin.

This is a modelling light, it is used for hard light effects, as seen it has a also has a removable protective cap over where the modelling bulb is.

As shown here, you can see the controls of the lighting units, a power cable connected into the light, the green switch if the off/on button, a flash synch, a control for the modelling light, and a photoeletric cell control. These are used to control different lighting and effects the lights give off.
