TMNT Rambles
**Tmnt 2012 spoilers ahead**
2012 Mikey's development of intuition is interesting to me. He is someone who is kind to a fault, can and will be friends with everyone, and his nature at the start of the series is being trusting of everyone, which his brothers are not. But he learns pretty early on in the series that his kindness and trusting nature can be taken advantage of by bad people, like Chris Bradford in S1ep4. This episode shows him that while he can still be kind and trusting of people, he can't trust everyone and realizes he needs to learn how to read people. (I think Raph cheering Mikey up at the end helped with his new perspective.)
We kind of see Mikey utilize this new knowledge in S1ep12 with Leatherhead when he goes with his gut and remembers Splinters teachings when deciding to befriend the precious gator. But I think this character development is best seen in S3ep3 with April's "mom". He is the only one who realizes something is off while his brothers and Casey and April don't question anything. The viewers don't see anything immediately that would tip us off to suspect "mom", but Mikey does, implying that he has honed his intuition since he was betrayed by Bradford whether consciously or not. And since Mikey has been established as the kind to everyone trusting turtle, him not trusting "mom" honestly feels pretty unsettling and alerts the viewers in such an awesome way that something isn't right.
In S4ep24 Splinter states that Mikey and Leo have the strongest ability to sharpen their intuition, and I wish they had explored that more with Mikey. We got a glimpse of it in S3, but I would have loved to see more of Mikey grappling with developing his intuition. I feel like there is a lot of potential for character exploration with him as he explored it because it feels like he would end up grappling with his natural instinct to be kind and trust everyone when his intuition is telling him not to. Also would be cool to see his brothers grow to respect Mikey's perception of people and relying on him for whether or not they can trust someone. Bonus if he and Leo get some brothely bonding time, I so desperately need that for these two in this series, as they work on developing their spirituality together. Maybe I'll write a fic about it someday hehe! 🐢

People's fear of eating is intense. I work with an older woman who is constantly dieting "for her health", and at least once a day if not more, she bemoans wanting to eat things.
"I can't make corned beef for St. Patrick's day, or I'll eat all of it."
"I can't have chocolates in the house, because I'll eat them."
I am so sick of hearing this from multiple coworkers and friends every day or every week. This fear of food, and fear of eating. Fear of hunger that is a perfectly natural and unavoidable and enjoyable part of being human. Fearing your body's natural hunger is a sad thing. I used to live under that fear all day. I am so very glad I'm not afraid of eating things I want to eat any longer.

captain afab is honestly a very relatable character because whomst among us does not have some great beast that has eluded us all our lives. mine, for instance, is a decent night's sleep.
