Les mis sketches
Jean Valjean during the last chapters because this part of the book (and the whole brick in general tbh. So as the finale of the musical) absolutely breaks my heart

Time for the next portion of translating Ukrainian shitpost that I think should do numbers on Tumblr.
So there was this interaction on Ukrainian twitter in 2023:

As per usual, the best attempt at translation by yours truly, spelling and punctuation preserved where possible:
A: No use. Females like this traded their clits for ambition.
B: Babe you just never managed to find a clit
A: Cease your aggression , lezbian. Before you stands a white heterosexual male . Handsome , self-reliant. A bit of an aesthete . Of noble breeding .
And when I tell you that there are about a million males on the internet I want to attribute this to but can't because they speak nothing but English.

After three weeks of back-and-forth and a bit of confusion at the local print shop, I'm pleased to announce that June postcards for Postcard of the Month Club over on Patreon have gone out!
If you aren't a member of the PotMC tier, but would like to get this lovely group of well-dressed late-18th-century dancers anachronistically celebrating Pride, sign up before the end of the month, and they will be mailed to your home (or any address you provide me with) along with a brief handwritten note.

u kno this site is full of nerds because even people’s sexual fantasies are like ok i’m a 19th century surgeon and you’re my patient. i start to repair your hernia but that’s not the only thing i get my tools on…(since this is before the popularization of handwashing as a surgical practice, you contract an infection and die)

I've made a thing :D
I've been wanting a crown after listening to Epic non stop for three months now. I wanted a brass crown, but didn't wanted the metal to sit directly against my skin (I've done that before for another crown project, and it felt like the contact point between metal and skin was draining all the heat of my body, aweful). I looked up what fabric ancient Greeks were using, and they used mostly linen and wool. I would use a linen ribbon to line my crown then!
But
I couldn't find linen fabric in my little town, and online shipping cost tripled the cost of the material.
However, I found linen yarn. So: weaving time it is!
I learned tablet-weaving with this guide, this other guide, and how to read a pattern with this guide. It was super fun, and not too time-consuming. From cutting the cards to having the finished ribbon around my head, it took me roughly 4h30 (and I have never weaved anything in my life so far). I used only one colour of yarn, as the ribbon was intended to be hidden between my head and the metal.
First I cut ten 6×6cm² cardboard squares, out of a cereal packaging.

Then I punched holes at each corner, and rounded the edges. I only had scissors so the holes are not super consistant.

I cut 4 lengths of yarn for each tablet, 1.17m long, for a 56cm finished ribbon in the end. I still had yarn left and could have weaved a longer ribbon, but that's the length I needed.

I threaded the cards forwards or backwards, following a pattern (said pattern would have been visible had I used different colours).

The loom is ready! The loom is actually my table's legs and it worked just fine in the beginning.

It's working :D !!

I used the back of a knife to press the weft thread into place

It's really working!!

Had to change anchor points midway, the ribbon had become too long

And done ✨️!

Now I need to find a metal saw to cut my brass strip to the right length. And a way to bend it into shape :D
